Powers/Abilities: A powerful mechanoid built to be a bigger, stronger version of Death's Head (Freelance Peacekeeping Agent), he was composed of an unidentified metal and was superhumanly strong and durable, lifting perhaps 10-25 tons. His metal frame was vulnerable to Death's Head-FPA's axe.deathshead40-vsdhfpa

His left arm had a chainsaw-like attachment.

He was built to be powerful but not smart, and he had little to no capacity for independent thought. Death's Head-FPA said "his pathetic process was barely enough to keep the guy from drooling electrons on himself."

However, his power cells were described by Death's Head-FPA as having "enough juice to power a warehouse of chainsaws on wheels."

Height: Unrevealed (approximately 7')
Weight: Unrevealed (approximately 800 lbs.)
Eyes: Solid red
Hair: Black/red cables with appearance of hair

History:

deathshead40-inactive(Death's Head IV#2 (fb) - BTS) - Robot war enthusiast and expert android-builder and developer Dr. Evelyn Necker at the Project: PEGASUS facility (then controlled by A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics)) was inspired by the Death's Head freelance peacekeeping agent (FPA) mechanoid.

Necker made new prototypes and began improving on the original's clunky archaic design, including hidden voice-activated commands.

(Death's Head IV#2 (fb) - BTS / Death's Head IV#2 (fb) - BTS) - Dr. Necker developed Death's Head 4.0, "going big" with him before streamlining with 5.0 (see comments).

(Death's Head IV#1 (fb) - BTS / Death's Head IV#2 (fb) - BTS) - After peering into the Multiverse to glimpse means by which he might become an Avenger, Wiccan observed Young Avengers teams with iterations of Death's Head units, particular a unit with which he was not familiar (Death's Head 5.0.1).

Locating that Death's Head unit at Project: PEGASUS, Wiccan teleported it back to the apartment he shared with his partner Hulking and hid him under their bed. Given the name Death's Head 5.0 or V in Roman numerals, Wiccan nicknamed him Vee.

(Death's Head IV#1-2 - BTS) - After encountering and conflicting with Death's Head-FPA after he had returned to Earth, Hulkling, Wiccan, their friend and Young Avengers teammate Hawkeye (Kate Bishop) and the revived Vee resolved to seek out Dr. Necker for answers.

Wiccan teleported them to Project: PEGASUS, where they found the semi-inert android remnants of past experiments. Dr. Necker appeared on the security screen as part of a giant mecha defense system.

(Death's Head IV#3) - After the group was split up somewhat, Death's Head-FPA and the virtually unconscious Wiccan encountered the offline Death's Head 4.0.

After fighting off Necker's Fearmonger androids, DH-FP & Wiccan joined back up with Hulkling and Hawkeye, but Dr. Necker -- who had activated hidden comamnds with Vee to put him under her control -- sent Vee to attack them.

As Vee pursued Hawkeye, Hulkling and Wiccan, Dr. Necker activated Death's Head 4.0 and sent it after Death's Head-FPA.

As DH 4.0 leapt through the air and smashed DH-FPA to the ground, Necker told DH-FPA, "I made <Vee> smart. Adaptive. That's the future. But you're the past. You respect smart, but smart doesn't scare you. But thanks to my Fearmongers, I know what scares you. It's you, only stronger."

(Death's Head IV#4) - Death's Head 4.0 repeated battered Death's Head-FPA, but as the damage caused DH-FPA to reboot his systems and repair his memory, the better-functioning DH-FPA managed to knock down DH-4.0 and then split his head open with his axe. DH-FPA then took his power cells, which he noted had enough juice to power a warehouse of chainsaws on wheels.

(Death's Head IV#4 - BTS) - Necker subsequently activated over a dozen Fearmonger androids, installing them with her most recent software, the same as in Vee, their metamorphic ability changing their appearance to various iterations of Death's Head units; however, this also restored Vee back to factory settings and he was no longer under Necker's control. deathshead40-brain

The heroes devised a plan to liberate the increasingly independent-thinking Fearmonger androids/Death's Heads, after which Death's Head used A.I.M. technology to teleport himself and Necker away.

Vee stored one of the Fearmonger androids they freed in a closet in Hulkling and Wiccan's apartment, wondering if all of the Fearmonger Death's Heads were to be considered family.

Comments: Created by Tini Howard & Kei Zama.

All of the numbering of the Death's Head mechanoids is based on the thought the the Death's Head freelance peacekeeping agent is "1," and they ignore Paxton Page, who preceded them all as Death's Head (see clarifications).

I don't think that Evelyn Necker was able to get the armless, disabled 4.0 unit back into fighting shape within the minutes between Death's Head-FPA first finding it and her sending it to attack him. I think she had a number of scrapped models lying around, and that was just a failed or scrapped version that was seen on the ground.

Death's Head 4.0's saw attachment had the message "THRASH TILL D..." and the last word was obscurred. Based on the last letter looking like the back part of an "H," I think "THRASH TILL DEATH" is reasonably likely.

Rather than have a bunch of Death's Head units running about that may never reappear in future stories, I prefer to think that they were instead each transported to an alternate reality, where they each became the cohesive 'glue' that bonded a Young Avengers team, however briefly, to provide self-fulfilling visions in the Multiverse for Wiccan to follow.
