braun-stratocorp-dangerHistory:

(X-Club#1 (fb) - BTS) - Braun was a technician for Stratocorp, which allied with the X-Men and X-Club in constructing a sea platform 100 miles south of Sao Luis, Brazil and creating the Stringstar, the world's first space elevator.

The project's leader, Frederik Heiden, was a Nazi scientist who had been mutated by experimentation with Terrigen and bonded to some extradimensional entity back in 1945 and who sought to rewrite reality.

(X-Club#1) - Braun was working alongside Danger and Jeffries as Magneto began raising the platform, Danger reported that it was ascending at 267 miles per hour and that the tether umbilicus was being created at 421 feet per second to ensure a smooth ascent. Impressed but thinking Danger was a programmed robot, Braun remarked, "Helluva machine, pal" to Jeffries. Enamored with Danger, Jeffries, replied, "That she is."

Danger subsequently informed Braun that his construction robots were slow and stupid, and that they couldn't form the tether quickly enough if they didn't speed the carbon supply. She then told him that she was going to interface with their systems and guide them herself.

Not certain this was permissible, Braun contacted Heiden to inform him of the request, but he had heard via remote monitoring and denied permission. However, when Braun started to tell Danger that the boss was denying her request, she informed Braun that she had not made a request but had merely informed him of her intentions as a professional courtesy.

Braun then told Jeffries that he had to control his 'bot, but Jeffries informed him that she was not his but rather her own woman.

(X-Club#1 - BTS) - When Danger interfaced with the control system, however, she was briefly overwhelmed as the extradimensional entity that had previously bonded with (been trapped within) Heiden entered her systems.

Comments: Created by Simon Spurrier and Paul Davidson.

I'm not sure how much Braun knew about Schragesturm and his plots or whether he was just a technician, but the name Braun in association with a Nazi seems a little too coincidental, so I suspect that he was a neo-Nazi. Maybe I should check with Stephen Lynch...
Anyway, if Braun was a neo-Nazi and aware of his boss' plots, then he would be an enemy of
Atlanteans (notably Lida), X-Club (Danger, Dr. Nemesis, Madison Jeffries, Kavita Rao), X-Men (Cyclops, Magneto) and all humanity.

This profile was completed 01/01/2026, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25th anniversary's celebratory event.

This was a pretty complex series with a lot going on. I was going to profile Schragesturm, and I covered the first issue, but then I decided to just cover Braun in the interest of time. I'll get to Schragesturm and the rest of the characters and tech sometime after the event.
