History:
(Captain Marvel I#18) - Blackie was a customer in a Manhattan coffee house. When teenager Rick Jones was singing on stage Blackie started loudly heckling him, shouting that he stank and the only thing he could use his axe (guitar) for was chopping trees. Clearly disagreeing with Blackie's diagnosis, other customers glared at him, and one told Blackie him to "flake off." Undaunted, Blackie challenged Jones to make him shut up. Riled, Jones nearly used the Nega-Bands he was wearing to switch places with Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell), until Mar-Vell telepathically reminded Rick he would not help him with such a petty squabble. Speaking aloud but to Mar-Vell, Rick acknowledged that this was his fight, but Blackie assumed that was directed at him, and called Rick a "little chicken with the baby face." Losing his temper, Jones knocked Blackie out with one punch, then departed, leaving Blackie lying on the floor out cold.

   He was called Blackie by another customer telling him to stop heckling. This might mean his surname is Black; however, for the other customer to know his name they'd either have to be acquainted from outside the coffee house or both regulars there, so it's probably more likely the other customer, a youngish woman, was giving him a nickname based on his black hair.

   This profile was completed on 08/29/2026, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25^th anniversary's celebratory event to represent Rick Jones.
