("The Price" (fb) - BTS) - Spydar ascended to the rank of Cardinal within the Instrumentality's mystic arm, the Order of Vieltoor.

("The Price") - Cardinal Spydar was present as High Bishop Syzygy Darklock met with the Lord Papal, requesting a leave of absence from his studies to put in order the affairs of his brother, Ajar'l', who had apparently been slain by a demon.

Offering sympathies, the Papal also reminded Darklock on the church's stand on its bishops using the powers granted them on non-Instrumentality-sanctioned ventures, such as seeking vengeance on what appeared to be demonic killing.

After Darklock's departure, Spydar commented that the Papal surely realized that Darklock was going to seek out his brother's assassin despite his warning. The Papal explained that he hoped that the ambitious and powerful Darklock might be slain in confronting Taurus Killgaren, the extremely powerful Dread Veil sorcerer who was behind Ajar'l's death.

("The Price" (fb) - BTS) - Having gained vast power and certain knowledge in the process of his quest for vengeance Darklock met with the Papal, noting that he was leaving the priesthood.

("The Price") - With both men aware of what had really happened, the Papal bade him farewell and asked that the Gods of the Instrumentality watched over him.

When Cardinal Spydar congratulated him on managing to get rid of the troublesome bishop, the Papal was enraged, asking if Spydar was mocking him or if was truly so blind. When Spydar failed to understand what the Papal was talking about, he was appalled that a fool like him ever became a cardinal. The Papal then noted Darklock's vast power, which he felt must be nearly equal to that of one of the gods.  Appeciating that
Darklock would menace the Instrumentality in the future, the Papal thanked the stars that there were twelve Gods of the Instrumentality.

Dreadstar / Reality-8116 primer

This could be a behind-the-scenes appearance for Cardinal Spydar, but it could certainly be another Cardinal:

("The Price" (fb) - BTS) - As the security force was legally not allowed to investigate any crime involving any mystical power or element, the Papal division sent a cardinal, who examined Ajar'l's remains and ruled that no supernatural agency had anything to do with it.
