History:
(Silver Surfer III#6 (fb) - BTS) - At the beginning of the Second Kree-Skrull War, the Kree Supreme Intelligence's principal subordinates were its three Controllers: Phae-Dor, a male Blue Kree who was head of the Science Council; Nenora, a female Blue Kree who was secretly a Skrull spying on the Supreme Intelligence for the self-proclaimed Skrull Emperor Kylor; and Tus-Katt, an older male Pink Kree.

(Silver Surfer III#6) - After evidence emerged that there was a traitor amongst those closest to it, the Supreme Intelligence deduced that its simian-techno, Nullet, must have been the Skrull spy and executed him. The Supreme Intelligence chose Nenora to be its Chief Coordinator.

(Silver Surfer III#8) - Nenora was still serving as Chief Coordinator when the Silver Surfer inadvertently drove the Supreme Intelligence mad by stealing the "Soul Gem" (actually, the Infinity Gem of the Mind, aka the Mind Gem) that it had been using to force the Blue Kree minds within it to coexist with the recently-added Pink Kree minds.

(Silver Surfer III#9 (fb) - BTS) - After the Supreme Intelligence was driven mad, Nenora, as its Chief Coordinator, assumed command of the Kree Empire.

(Silver Surfer III#10 (fb) - BTS) - Nenora began using the title "Supreme Leader" because, for the Kree, the title of "Supremor" was for the exclusive use of the Supreme Intelligence. Nenora ruled because she had worked more closely with the Supreme Intelligence than anyone and because of that closeness she understood the parameters of the Kree Empire better than anyone else with a mortal mind.

(Silver Surfer III#13 (fb) - BTS) - Some members of the Kree military were displeased with the fact that Nenora had replaced the Supreme Intelligence only because she had been close to him. They believed that Nenora was untested and that there were better candidates to be the Supreme Leader available among the more experienced members of the Kree military leadership. At some point, a small group of disaffected military leaders (two generals and three colonels) got together and decided that they would be the ones to correct this situation — by killing Nenora.

(Silver Surfer III#13 (fb) - BTS) - Since part of their job involved monitoring the loyalty of the citizens and soldiers of the Kree Empire, the Accusers learned of the conspiracy to assassinate Nenora and (presumably) brought it to her attention. However, instead of arresting the conspirators, they allowed the attempt to proceed but arranged to have a surprise waiting for them.

(Silver Surfer III#13) - One night, "well after the lower passage of blue Pama in the black Kree-Larian sky," the three colonels stealthily approached the building where Nenora slept.

The three assassins made their way through hallways without encountering any witnesses until finally, with their hand weapons drawn, they reached a large door.

With the three of them holding their weapons at the ready, the bald colonel triggered the mechanism that opened the door.

However, as the segments of the door slid aside and up, the three assassins were shocked to find Ronan the Accuser on the other side, waiting for them, armed with his Universal Weapon and chuckling to himself.

Without saying anything, Ronan immediately attacked the bald colonel. His weapon, sheathed in energy, made a SHUMP sound as it struck the left side of the colonel's head, cutting him off in mid-sentence as he said, "Ronan thackhpp."

Although they must have realized how badly things were going, the two surviving assassins tried to talk Ronan into letting them complete their mission. Colonel Hon-Sann told Ronan to get out of their way and Colonel Hal-Konn declared that the woman Nenora had to die!

Their words did not impress Ronan, who replied, "The woman Nenora is the Supreme Leader, Colonel Hon-Sann! You three are guilty of attempted revolution! Treason!"

Ronan then declared, "So pronounces - - Ronan the Accuser!" and then he fired a blast of yellow energy from his Universal Weapon that sizzled through the air with a SHHHHH sound as it struck Hon-Sann, causing him to cry out, "AAAAAA!" as he died.

With his two comrades already lying dead on the floor, the last assassin physically attacked Ronan and grabbed his weapon, stating that the Universal Weapon was effective only if he got to use it. Unimpressed, Ronan replied, "Agreed, Colonel Hal-Konn! But it is my skill at using it which earned it for me!

As they struggled, Ronan continued to boast, stating, "And my skill at using everything at my command which earned me the rank of Supreme Accuser!" Then, while using the Universal Weapon to knock Colonel Hal-Konn away with a POP! sound, Ronan spoke his final words to the colonel, saying, "-- You Pink slime!"

Now pinned to the floor with Ronan standing over him and resting the head of his Universal Weapon on his head, the last assassin tried to reason with the Accuser, stating that Nenora had replaced the Supreme Intelligence only because she had been close to him. Colonel Hal-Konn begged Ronan to listen to him, stating that there were better candidates and that Nenora was untested. However, a discharge of energy from the Universal Weapon cut him off in mid-sentence even as Supreme Leader Nenora, who was standing behind a nearby curtain, called out, "Stop!"

With the last assassin now dead, Nenora voiced her disapproval, saying that Ronan shouldn't have terminated the assassin until he had told them who else wanted the Nexus Chair! Ronan replied, "We know who they are, Supremor! Gen--" but was cut off by Nenora who insisted that the title "Supremor" belonged to the Supreme Intelligence alone and that, as a mortal, "Supreme Leader" was all she dared claim. Ronan responded with a "Yes, madam!" and then continued with what he had been saying: that they knew about General Mar-Kann and General Yel-Sinn among the Pink Kree. However, Nenora asked if that was all of them and suggested that Hal-Konn might have named a conspirator who was not yet known! Ronan replied, "I doubt it seriously, Madam! We Accusers know too much of what is thought and done among those who could reach you! Such hidden conspiracies are the province of the Skrull Empire!" And Nenora, herself secretly a Skrull spy, replied, "Yes...Yes, I'm sure you're right...!"

When Ronan then put some moves on her, suggesting that she might need a man to stay with her until the dawn, Nenora thanked him but declined, then gave him another mission that he was to undertake immediately: To destroy the Silver Surfer who had been wreaking havoc on the border worlds. Ronan was very pleased with this new mission and left immediately, saying, "The empire forever!"

Once Ronan had left, Nenora used a secret passageway to descend to the chamber where the Supreme Intelligence remained in an insane state as the Blue minds and the Pink minds within it continued to battle. After gloating for a bit, Nenora took the opportunity to betray the Skrull whom she had followed, Emperor Kylor, by sending him into an ambush that would eliminate the last two Skrulls who knew the truth about her.

(Silver Surfer III#30-31) - Sometime later, Nenora's secret was exposed when Empress S'Byll, who had been told the secret by Shalla-Bal, used her ability to restore the lost shape-shifting abilities of other Skrulls on Nenora. The shock of the sudden return of her powers caused Nenora to revert to her true Skrull form (and possibly die). Left without a leader, the Kree agreed to a truce that ended the Second Kree-Skrull War...for a while.

Comments: Created by Steve Englehart, Joe Staton and Dave Cockrum.

For quite some time, I held the mistaken belief that the blue-on-white uniforms of the assassins had been colored incorrectly. When I finally realized that I had been wrong, I didn't know how I could have made that mistake. My best explanation is that, when I read the story, my mind fixated on the fact that Ronan mentioned two generals who had been involved and, overlooking the fact that Ronan had actually addressed two of the assassins as colonels, I assumed that they had been generals who should have been wearing red-on-white uniforms. How the mind works is truly mysterious.

Colonels Hon-Sann, Hal-Konn and Whatshisname?
During their battle, as seen above, the Blue Kree colonel told Ronan to "Get out of our way" and the non-bald Pink Kree colonel stated that "The woman Nenora must die!" Ronan responded by saying, "The woman Nenora is the Supreme Leader, Colonel Hon-Sann!" This reference to "the woman Nenora" makes it sound like Ronan was replying to what the non-bald Pink Kree colonel had said, which would make him Hon-Sann. However, after killing the Blue Kree colonel, Ronan then addressed the non-bald Pink Kree colonel as Colonel Hal-Konn, which means that Hon-Sann must have been the Blue Kree colonel after all.

The Marvel Database wiki's entry for Silver Surfer III#13 used to state that a Kree character named "Kol-Lann" made his only appearance and died in that issue, just like the other two named Kree characters, Colonel Hon-Sann and Colonel Har-Konn. This statement implied that "Kol-Lann" was the third assassin killed by Ronan. However, "Kol'Lann" was actually the Blue Kree general who was in command of the Kree fleet that seemingly killed Skrull Emperor Kylor in that issue but his name wasn't revealed until Silver Surfer III#20.

Since the names that Steve Englehart gave to some of the other Kree characters he created during his run on the third Silver Surfer series seemed to be soundalikes to the names of some Marvel artists, I considered the possibility that Hal-Konn, Hon-Sann, Mar-Kann and Yel-Sinn might have also been meant as homages to other comic book creators. However, nothing jumps out at me.

The name of the third assassin, the bald Pink Kree colonel, remains unrevealed.

Kree-Lar the planet? Or Kree-Lar the city on the planet Hala?
Steve Englehart wrote 30 of the first 31 issues of the third Silver Surfer series and I rather enjoyed those stories. However, there were a few glitches, the biggest and most puzzling of which concerned where the Supreme Intelligence was based. Beginning with issue #4, five of those stories state or imply that the world on which the Supreme Intelligence is located is called "Kree-Lar" and is the planet that orbits the star Pama. This is a continuity error since it was established in Captain Marvel I#15-16 that Kree-Lar and Hala were two different planets located in two different star systems, with Kree-Lar being the capital of the Kree Galaxy and Mar-Vell's home planet, and Hala being in orbit around the star Pama as well as the homeworld of the Kree race where the Supreme Intelligence ruled from its Hall of Judgment. This is something that Mr. Englehart really should have known because he wrote a storyline in Captain Marvel I#41-45 in which the Supreme Intelligence was specifically stated to be on Hala, the Kree homeworld.

Anyway, Mr. Englehart did begin correcting himself and the final five issues of his run did reaffirm that the Supreme Intelligence was located on the Kree homeworld of Hala, but Silver Surfer III#13 was the last issue to contain that error. Except, maybe it didn't. The Omniscient Narrative on page 1 describes the assassination attempt as taking place "well after the lower passage of blue Pama in the black Kree-Larian sky" and, based on earlier issues, this could lead one to assume that that reference was to the sky of the planet Kree-Lar. However, that phrase could instead be a reference to the sky over the city of Kree-Lar which was established, by writer Chris Claremont in Captain Marvel I#46, as being the name of the "planet-girdling throne city" on the planet Hala where the Supreme Intelligence's Hall of Judgment was located.    I probably didn't need to explain all this but I wanted to make sure that nobody misunderstood why I stated that this conspiracy was based in the city of Kree-Lar on the planet Hala in the Pama system. Plus, this continuity error has bugged me for DECADES and in all that time no one has bothered to provide an in-universe explanation for it or even acknowledge the error.
Worse, some online sites have taken to stating that Kree-Lar and Hala are two different planets that are both located in the Pama system, something that is massively wrong! AARRGGHH!!

bald colonel

A male Pink Kree who was either naturally bald or shaved his head, this colonel was part of the five-man conspiracy to kill the female Blue Kree Nenora and replace her with someone more suitable to be their Supreme Leader. His name has never been revealed.

On the night that had been decided upon for the assassination, this colonel, followed by Colonel Hon-Sann and Colonel Hal-Konn, stealthily made their way through the building where Nenora spent her nights. Upon reaching the large door behind which they expected to find Nenora and with all three of them having their hand weapons at the ready, the bald colonel triggered the mechanism that opened the door.

Unfortunately for them, when the segments of the door slid aside and up, the assassins found themselves face-to-face with a smiling Ronan the Accuser waiting for them, armed with his Universal Weapon and chuckling to himself. The bald colonel was so taken by surprise that he didn't immediately fire his weapon, thereby allowing Ronan to lunge forward and attack him. The bald colonel was just beginning to call out the Accuser's name when the energy-sheathed Universal Weapon struck the left side of his head with a SHUMP sound, cutting him off in mid-sentence as he said, "Ronan thackhpp."

That single blow to his head was fatal and the bald colonel was soon joined in death by the two other would-be assassins.

Colonel Hal-Konn

A clean-shaven male Pink Kree with black hair, Colonel Hal-Konn was part of the five-man conspiracy to kill the female Blue Kree Nenora and replace her with someone more suitable to be their Supreme Leader.

On the night chosen for the assassination, Colonel Hal-Konn followed the bald colonel and Colonel Hon-Sann as the trio stealthily made their way through the building where Nenora spent her nights. Upon reaching the large door behind which they expected to find Nenora, all three of them held their hand weapons at the ready while the bald colonel triggered the mechanism that opened the door.

Unfortunately, when the door opened, the assassins were shocked to find Ronan the Accuser waiting for them. Ronan attacked immediately, killing the bald colonel with a single blow from his Universal Weapon. Although they must have realized how badly things were going, neither of the two remaining assassins opened fire on the Accuser and instead tried to talk Ronan into letting them complete their mission. While Colonel Hon-Sann told Ronan to get out of their way, Colonel Hal-Konn declared, "The woman Nenora must die!" Unimpressed, Ronan told Colonel Hon-Sann that "The woman Nenora" was the Supreme Leader and that the three of them were guilty of attempted revolution and treason. Having pronounced his sentence, Ronan fired a blast of yellow energy from his Universal Weapon that struck and killed Hon-Sann.

With his two comrades lying dead on the floor, Hal-Konn physically attacked Ronan and grabbed his weapon, telling Ronan, "The Universal Weapon is effective only if you get to use it--!" Ronan agreed with the colonel but pointed out that it was his skill at using it which had earned it for him and that it was his skill at using everything at his command which had earned him the rank of Supreme Accuser! As he knocked Hal-Konn away from him, Ronan called the colonel, "You Pink slime!"

Within seconds, Colonel Hal-Konn was pinned to the floor with Ronan standing over him and resting the head of his Universal Weapon on his head. The colonel made a last, desperate attempt to reason with Ronan, saying, "She replaced the Supreme Intelligence only because she was close to him! Listen to me! There are better candidates! She is untested! She --" Whatever else Colonel Hal-Konn had been planning to say was cut off in mid-sentence by the Universal Weapon which instantly killed him (possibly by vaporizing his head) even as Supreme Leader Nenora, standing behind a nearby curtain, called out for Ronan to stop.

With all of the would-be assassins now dead, Nenora voiced her disapproval, saying that Ronan shouldn't have terminated Hal-Konn until he had told them who else wanted the Nexus Chair! Ronan stated that they knew about General Mar-Kann and General Yel-Sinn among the Pink Kree. When Nenora then asked if that was all of them and suggested that Hal-Konn might have named a conspirator who was not yet known, Ronan assured her that the Accusers knew too much of what was thought and done among those who could reach her and that such hidden conspiracies were the province of the Skrull Empire! Seemingly reassured, Nenora replied that she was sure Ronan was right.

Colonel Hon-Sann

A balding but mustached and bearded male Blue Kree whose remaining hair was black, Colonel Hon-Sann was part of the five-man conspiracy to kill the female Blue Kree Nenora and replace her with someone more suitable to be their Supreme Leader. Perhaps significantly, he was the only Blue Kree member of a conspiracy whose target was (believed to be) a Blue Kree.

On the night of the planned assassination, the three colonels stealthily made their way through the building where Nenora spent her nights, with Colonel Hon-Sann following the bald colonel and Colonel Hal-Konn bringing up the rear. Upon reaching the large door behind which they expected to find Nenora, they all made sure that they had their hand weapons at the ready and then the bald colonel triggered the mechanism that opened the door.

Unfortunately, instead of Nenora, the assassins found Ronan the Accuser waiting for them in the chamber behind the now-opened door. Ronan immediately attacked, killing the bald colonel with a single blow from his Universal Weapon. Although they must have realized how badly things were going, neither of the two remaining assassins opened fire on the Accuser and instead tried to talk Ronan into letting them complete their mission. Colonel Hon-Sann tried to command the Accuser, saying, "Get out of our way, Ronan!" and Colonel Hal-Konn added that the woman Nenora had to die!

Unimpressed by their words, Ronan replied, "The woman Nenora is the Supreme Leader, Colonel Hon-Sann! You three are guilty of attempted revolution! Treason!" Ronan then declared, "So pronounces - - Ronan the Accuser!" as he fired a blast of yellow energy from his Universal Weapon that sizzled through the air with a SHHHHH sound as it struck Colonel Hon-Sann, causing him to cry out, "AAAAAA!" and drop his unfired hand as he died.

As Colonel Hon-Sann's body lay on the floor alongside the corpse of the bald colonel, Colonel Hal-Konn made a desperate physical attack on Ronan but he was soon dead as well.

Generals Mar-Kann and Yel-Sinn

Two-fifths of the conspiracy against Nenora, General Mar-Kann and General Yel-Sinn did not take part in the actual attempt to assassinate Nenora and thus were not killed by Ronan alongside their three co-conspirators. However, the fact that Ronan knew of their involvement suggests that they probably didn't outlive the three colonels by long.

Aside from the fact that they were both Pink Kree, nothing else has been revealed about these two generals (but I suspect that they were both male).
