Known Relatives: Trieste (consort, deceased)

First Appearance: Starblast#1 (January, 1994)

Powers/Abilities: Xlyym, like all Fomalhauti, possessed telepathy for communication with others, could breathe underwater, and had multiple tentacles which enabled him to manipulate several objects at once. Xlyym was also a gifted scientist and capable starship pilot. He made frequent use of Skullhuggers and Planetary Thrusters.

History: Xlyym is a member of the Fomalhauti race, and profited from his race's conquest of the Banari, a race whose entire male population had been wiped out. He made one of the Banari, Trieste, his consort, and placed them under his control using Skullhuggers. He also benefited from the Haab, the Banari's servant race. At some point, he joined Skeletron's Starblasters in their quest for the Starbrand, although he was frequently annoyed at having to take orders from Skeletron.

(Starblast#1) - Xlyym was present aboard the Dark Seed as Nygorn presented Skeletron with the captured Uatu the Watcher. After learning the history of the Starbrand from the Watcher, Skeletron dispatched Xlyym in a cargo vessel to earth's Atlantic Ocean to create a diversion while the others attempted to capture Kayla Ballantine, current wielder of the Starbrand.

(Namor I#46) - Xlyym chaffed at taking Skeletron's orders, but agreed to install two Planetary Thrusters on the ocean floor to tear the earth apart, and sent his Haab slaves to install them. When he found the Inhuman Triton investigating their ship, he dispatched Banari and Haab to attack him, and during the battle, Tiger Shark and Tamara Rahn arrived, having heard of the Banari's presence. Tamara was welcomed aboard Xlyym's ship by her sister Trieste, and learnt of her race's fate from them as the Haab placed a Skullhugger upon Triton. Xlyym informed Tamara that once a Skullhugger had been inserted, it could not be removed, and that Tamara must as well join the rest of her people with the Starblasters. When the Sub-Mariner and Stingray arrived to investigate as well, Xlyym dispatched Triton to attack them.

(Namor I#47) - After seeing Triton's Skullhugger removed, Tamara decided Xlyym had lied, and told Tiger Shark to take care of him. Tiger Shark made a vicious attack on Xlyym, biting off one of his tentacles, which he later presented to his friend Remora as food. Xlyym barely managed to escape him, and set off to continue overseeing the installation of the Planetary Thrusters.

(Fantastic Four I#386) - Both Planetary Thrusters were ultimately destroyed thanks to the efforts of the Fantastic Four, Sub-Mariner, and their allies. Xlyym contacted Fabrikant to inform him of the loss, and to spare his life, said he would attempt to create a tidal wave with his ship as a new distraction. Fabrikant agreed, although Xlyym's mission was no longer of importance to them. Just as his ship began to charge up to create the tidal wave, he was fired upon by the Fantastic Four's Stealth-Hawk, and was unable to complete his mission. The Sub-Mariner, Invisible Woman, Stingray and Tamara rescued Xlyym from his sinking vessel and brought him back to the Stealth-Hawk. There, Tamara executed Xlyym by spearing him, as punishment for what he had done to the Banari.

Comments: Created by Mark Gruenwald, Herb Trimpe and Ralph Cabrera.

Like so many of the Starblasters, Xlyym suffered from the curse of having an inconsistently-spelt name, and was often called "Xlymm."
