RAZORBLADE

Real Name: Unrevealed

Identity/Class: Human, armor user, nationality unknown

Occupation: Criminal, mercenary

Group Membership: Fangs (Bludgeon, Heat-Ray, Slither)

Affiliations: Former agent of Viper; former ally of the Titanic Three (Crimson Dynamo (Nevsky), Radioactive Man, Titanium Man (Bullski) )

Enemies: Avengers (Hawkeye, Iron Man (Stark), Mantis, Scarlet Witch, Thor, Vision), Battlestar, Captain America (Rogers), Iron Monger (Red Skull agent), Red Skull (Shmidt), Silver Sable

Known Relatives: None

Aliases: Buzzsaw, Slasher

Base of Operations: currently unknown; formerly Saigon;

First Appearance: Avengers I#130 (December, 1974)

Powers: Razorblade wears a costume covered with razor-sharp blades. This grants him a degree of immunity from physical attacks, as well as increasing the damage from his blows (both from the weight of the suit and from its sharp surfaces). In his later appearance he carried a gun which could fire razor sharp flechettes to filet an opponenet from a distance. He also had access to jet-skates for short distance flights. He has experience in armed and hand-to-hand combat. It is uncertain what level of protection the costume provides from ballistic attack.

History: (Avengers I#130) - Buzzsaw/The Slasher robbed the Saigon Diamond Exchange. When he saw the Avengers (there on other business), he assumed they were after him. He located the ex-patriate heroes known as the Titanic Three, and convinced them that the Avengers wrongly accused him. They were more than happy to assist him in fighting off the Avengers.
Slasher got the drop on Mantis (she was distracted by the recent death of Swordsman, and did not expect his armor to carry so much weight), but was then blasted into submission by the Vision. As he crashed to the ground, his supply of diamonds went flying. The Titanic Three abandonned him after learning he really was guilty of the theft.

(Captain America I#419) - The Viper was conducting a plan designed to blind everyone in America watching television. She was doing this with money given to her by the Red Skull, who disapproved of her plans and tried to stop her. The Skull's agent, the Iron Monger, captured her, and began torturing her for information (beginning with shattering one of her shins). However, her agents, the Fangs, arrived and defeated the Iron Monger, then freed her.
As Viper's plans proceeded, her base was discovered by Battlestar, Captain America, and Silver Sable. The Fangs were sent to stop them. Razorblade got sandwiched between Cap and Battlestar's shields, and was knocked out. In the process, he flew backward into Bludgeon, lacerating his face and chest, and perhaps mortally wounding him.

Comments: Created by Steve Engelhart and Sal Buscema.

In Avengers I#130, he is first referred to (in a caption on page 6) as Buzzsaw.

I believe the Avengers story was meant as a political commentary on how the deceptions of a single person (or small group/nation) could result in a misguided struggle between two super-powers.

Clarifications: Razorblade, aka Buzzsaw and Slasher, has no known connections to:
