Powers/Abilities: Valida Payton is a skilled leader and scientist. In battle, she has access to several laser weapons.

History: (Marvel Premiere#41)- Lt. Valida Payton was assigned to Seeker 3000 along with her twin brother Ben. Valida was summoned by Captain Jordan Shaw, along with Ben and John Running Bear to hear his plan to rescue the telepath Phaedra from the Six so that they could use the ship's warp-drive to escape Earth's solar system before it went nova. Valida agreed to Jordan's plan, and aided in Phaedra's rescue.

(Seeker 3000#1 (fb))- In the years that followed, Valida became involved with Jordan Shaw, and she bore him a son, Carter Shaw. Valida also became the ship's second-in-command.

(Seeker 3000#1)- 25 years after Earth's destruction, Valida was shocked to learn that Jordan had died on an away mission. Carter wanted Valida to assume the role of captain, but Ben insisted that they hold a democratic vote. Although Valida favoured Carter as the new captain, the vote went to Jordan's clonal son, Jericho. As Seeker 3000 arrived in the Calver Fermion Theta Cluster, Valida was reunited with Phaedra when she ventured out to warn the crew of the Hkkkt.

(Seeker 3000#2)- When Carter's mule did not return from a survey, Valida demanded that they take the time to search for them, despite Jericho's reluctance. Ultimately, Jericho allowed Valida a limited amount of time, but it proved long enough for the Hkkkt to locate them.

(Seeker 3000#3)- Valida plotted with Phaedra to hide the ship's populations from the Hkkt within the Pathfinders' "Dead Zones."

(Seeker 3000#4)- Valida was reunited with Carter, who returned to the ship with new allies, the Medusae. Ultimately, the Hkkkt were nearly all slain by the Pathfinders, who unleashed a powerful psychic attack.
