History:

(Major X I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Many decades in the future, mutantkind was threatened by the mysterious and nefarious being the Catalyst. This resulted in the powerful X-Ential to create a protective mutant haven called X-Istence, defended by the X-Command. Atlanteans, ruled by Nomar, were given sanctuary as well.

(Major X I#0/3 (fb)) - In the last days of the mutant exodus to the X-Istence, the X-Command conducted raids on opposition Watchtower strongholds for supplies. One such raid uncovered the remains of an Adamantium skeleton of their "greatest mutant liberator." This Adamantium was smelted down and reforged into the Sword of X to represent X-Istence's resolve, evolution and resilience, and a symbol of justice.

(Major X I#0/1,0/3) - The mutant Alexander Nathaniel Summers had served selflessly and with honor. Watched by M'Koy, Commander X welcomed Summers as Major X into the X-Command alongside Sergeant X, Lieutenant X, Captain X and General X. Having identified the location the Catalyst, the X-Command made preparations to immediately teleport to the location to confront the villain. Before leaving, Commander X handed the Sword of X to Major X as a symbol of authority and to safeguard X-Istence.

(Major X I#1) - There was no sign of X-Command and Major X appeared to be the lone protector of the X-Istence, which had begun to crumble with the sudden disappearance of X-Ential. Major X time-jumped to his past, mistakenly arriving to when Cable had just formed X-Force, to find answers and save X-Istence.

Comments: Created by Rob Liefeld.

The structure of the forearm and hand bones suggest that the Adamantium-coated skeleton they found belonged to Wolverine (Logan).

Going by the helmet fins, I think there's a coloring issue between Captain X and Sergeant X. The blue-&-gold soldier-X who found the skeleton has different helmet fins to the one about to teleport in the group of three. Is there a Corporal X or Private X or a different soldier-X? Or maybe the helmet fins are adjustable/interchangeable?

Major X I#0 was a reprint of Wolverine II#154 & 155 with a (short) new Major X story cleaved as bookends.

At one stronghold, he found the fractured remains of an Admantium-coated skeleton, later DNA-matched to the "greatest mutant liberator." This was taken back to X-Istence and smelted to forge the legendary Sword of X. He later witnessed Alexander Summers be inducted into X-Command as Major X.
