History:

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Phoenix Saga - Part IV: The Starjammers" - BTS) - Alex was the younger brother of Scott Summers and son of air force test pilot Christopher Summers.

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Orphan's End" (fb)) - Having enjoyed a camping trip in Alaska, the Summers family flew home in Christopher's rebuilt De Havilland airplane called the Mosquito when an alien Shi'ar starcraft appeared on top of the Mosquito. Unbeknownst to the Summer family they had been selected as biological specimen for the vile Shi'ar Emperor D'Ken. Alex's father did his best to escape the giant vessel but when the aircraft's fuel tanks were hit they only had seconds before they would blow. Alex's mother Katherine quickly grabbed the aircraft's last parachute and strapped Scott after which little Alex was tied to his brother. Having said their final goodbye's the boys were pushed to safety but as their parachute began to burn they feared for the worst. However, just as the Mosquito's fuel tanks blew Alex's parents were transported aboard the giant Shi'ar starcraft were they were imprisoned by Emperor D'Ken and his sister Deathbird.

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Orphan's End" - BTS) - Although both Alex and Scott survived the parachute fall they were consequently separated as Scott was placed in an orphanage. Both boys grew into men, unaware of what happened to each other.

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Cold Comfort" - BTS) - At some point in time Alex manifested his mutant abilities after which he suitably chose the codename Havok.

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Phoenix Saga - Part IV: The Starjammers" - BTS) - When the X-Men encountered the Starjammers, the telepathic Jean Grey learned their pirate leader Corsair was in fact Christopher Summers, Alex and Scott's father. However, for unrevealed reasons Jean Grey decided to keep the discovery to herself.

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Cold Comfort") - Havok was grafted onto the government-financed mutant team X-Factor alongside Forge, Quicksilver, Multiple Man, Polaris, Strong Guy and Wolfsbane.

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Cold Comfort") - Havok developed romantic feelings for his teammate and former X-Man, Polaris. The duo soon became a couple.

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Cold Comfort" (fb) - BTS) - When Forge noticed X-Man Jubilee and former X-Man Iceman broke into their training facility he and X-Factor quickly subdued the duo and tied them to chairs. Havok and X-Factor were unaware that Jubilee had joined Iceman in search of his former girlfriend Polaris who'd become a member of X-Factor after being recruited by Forge in Seattle. But when Forge then witnessed the arrival of X-Men Professor X, Beast, Cyclops and Wolverine, in search of Jubilee and Iceman, he decided a friendly little skirmish with the X-Men could teach X-Factor some good pointers.

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Cold Comfort") - Just as Beast, Cyclops and Wolverine revealed their presence to Jubilee and Iceman, planning to apprehend the ice-like mutant, Quicksilver and X-Factor revealed their presence. Eager to test their skills against the X-Men, X-Factor immediately attacked the heroes. During a fierce battle Havok immediately opposed Cyclops, unaware he was his brother. However, both mutants were shocked to learn their powers didn't harm their opponent. It was Jubilee, while stuck in Quicksilver's whirlwind, who took out Havok with her fireworks. This prompted Xavier to command his X-Men to switch targets leading to X-Factor's defeat. In the end Forge and Polaris appeared, revealing Polaris wasn't truly missing but had joined with X-Factor and fallen in love with Havok, Forge introduced himself and the team to the X-Men. Cyclops and the X-Men expressed they'd be eager for a rematch after which Iceman and the X-Men left the X-Factor's training facility.

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Orphan's End" - BTS) - Cyclops discovered his father was still alive, leading the Starjammers as Corsair. Although unaware Havok had been Alex he did remember his younger sibling.

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Sanctuary - Part II") - Havok and X-Factor were part of the many recipients of a global transmission sent by mutant supremacist Fabian Cortez from Asteroid M. Cortez called for the immediate release of all mutants from captivity and pay restitution for human crimes against them, a feat which the inhabitants of Asteroid M celebrated. Others who viewed the message were the siblings Haven and Monsoon, Externals Gideon and Saul, and US President Robert Kelly. In the end, Magneto destroyed Asteroid M's active warheads, defeated Cortez and in a mighty show of force destroyed Asteroid M.

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Xavier Remembers" - BTS) - When a concussion left Charles Xavier's psychic mind open to manipulation, the Shadow King used images of Havok and other friends of Xavier to persuade his adversary to believe he'd reached paradise so he could take possession of Xavier's body.

(X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon - "Lifedeath - Part I" - BTS) - Forge kept a photograph of his X-Factor team in his home, which included Havok.

(X-Men '97: the Animated Series cartoon - "Tolerance is Extinction - Part III" - BTS) - In the months following the disappearance of the X-Men after saving the planet from Sentinel hybrid Bastion and the downfall of Magneto's Asteroid M, Forge compiled a list of mutants who could potentially carry on the torch, Havok was listed among them.

As of yet, Havok is still unaware Cyclops is his brother.

I was unable to find who voiced Havok. Other online sources claim that Havok was voiced by Cyclops' voice actor Norm Spencer.

In Eric and Julia Lewald's wonderful book X-Men The Art and Making of The Animated Series it was revealed that during the final season, the new design team, led by series veterans Frank Squillace and Mark Lewis, came up with a fun idea amid all the cutbacks: a fresh look for the entire cast. Longer, leaner, even more anime-influenced, these character models were proposed at exactly the wrong time. When budgets were being slashed, the last thing the production supervisors needed was the added expense of redesigning the characters (that in facts had just been severely "simplified" to save money). The "no" was quick and firm. Next to the X-Men, these characters models included the likes of Havok, Archangel, Mesmero, Psylocke, Sunfire and even Arcade who'd had not even appeared.

When, in 2015's Secret Wars, the Multiverse was destroyed following the incursions of planets it appeared as if Reality-92131 was drafted onto Battleworld as the Westchester domain. However, this has since been debunked. As such the reality seen in the two volumes of X-Men '92 (2015 and 2016-2017) now have their own reality-designation of Earth-15730. The X-Men '92: House of XCII (2022) series was inspired by both the animated series and Hickman's House of X run but is its own separate reality. The limited series X-Men '97 (2024), however, is Reality-92131 and bridges the gap between the original X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon and the new X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon.
