Powers/Abilities: Appearing to be a normal domestic shorthair cat, Crowley apparently has certain magical abilities and perhaps advanced intelligence.

Crowley can apparently sense the approach of Arcanna (at least) to their home, and he can communicate this with the members of her family. Whether Crowley actually speaks or speaks telepathically vs. one or more of Arcanna's children's magical abilities allow them to sense Crowley's thoughts is unclear. The non-magical Phil seemed to indicate he received communication from Crowley.

Given Arcanna's magical abilities and spell-casting, it seems extremely likely that Crowley served as her familiar, facilitating her spell-casting in some fashion.

(Squadron Supreme I#1 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, Crowley became the pet (and possibly more) of the magic-user Arcanna.

(Squadron Supreme I#1 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, Arcanna married Philip Jones, and they had three children: Drusilla, Katrina, and Andrew.

(Squadron Supreme I#1 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, Arcanna established a spell of camouflage to hide her family's home in the forests of Pommerschen, New Troy.

(Squadron Supreme I#1 - BTS) - After the Squadron had voted to resolve their world's current chaos via implementing the Utopia Program, Arcanna traveled to Pommerschen to visit her family. crowley-712-sqsup6-daisychain

(Squadron Supreme I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Sensing Arcanna's presence, Crowley told Philip he felt her to be nearby.

(Squadron Supreme I#1) - As Arcanna magically opened the door to their home, Philip and the kids greeted her, with Philip noting that Crowley had told him he felt her to be nearby. Arcanna replied, "That darn cat! I wanted it to be a surprise."

Crowley subsequently watched as Drusilla demonstrated how she had learned to levitate her doll, and he purred as the family spoke. Crowley later watched as Arcanna and Philip embraced romantically.

(Squadron Supreme I#6) - Alongside the rest of the family, Crowley stood on a mesa and watched as Arcanna mystically camouflaged Squadron City. Arcanna then levitated the family -- who held hands in succession, with Andrew holding Crowley's paw, causing Crowley to cry out -- into the city, which they could see as soon as they penetrated the illusory hemisphere. Once on the ground again, Crowley took off.

(Squadron Supreme I#6) - Crowley presumably took up residence in their home within Squadron City (see comments).

(Squadron Supreme: New World Order (fb) - BTS) - Crowley told Arcanna's family that she would come back to them.

(Squadron Supreme: New World Order - BTS) - When Arcanna returned, Katrina opened the door, and she reminded her father that she had told him to listen to Crowley when he said she would be back. Phil replied, "Yes, well...I could tell there was a lot he wasn't telling us, even if he is a cat."

Various sites note that Crowley protected Arcanna's family and that he acted as a go-between between her and her family when she was away. That may be true, but I didn't see anything in the stories to confirm that.

To Squadron City and back to Pommerschen:

When Arcanna/Moonglow returned to Earth-712 after an extended absence, she visited her family who had since relocated to their mystically camouflaged home in Pommerschen, which appeared to be the same place as they lived before.
I would guess that when the Squadron failed to return, especially with the whole New World Order pushing Earth-712 into a more hostile environment, Arcanna’s husband, Phil, relocated their family back to their house in the woods.
In Squadron Supreme I#6, I had always ASSumed that Arcanna had magically relocated their Pommerschen home to Squadron City, but when Arcanna and the Squadron were banished from their reality by Master Menace, she and her family had still been living in their home in Squadron City. Arcanna would not have had a chance to relocate their home back to Pommerschen.
So, perhaps they had a new home in Squadron City (the exterior of the Pommerschen was never shown, so there is no comparison), but she maintained their Pommerschen home and its wards as a back-up.
Or, perhaps she had set up a failsafe so that if Squadron City were no longer safe, their home would be magically transported back to Pommerschen with its camouflage/wards in place. I realize that moving a house isn't as simple as moving the above-ground portion but...you know...magic...

    I did not see Crowley in Squadron Supreme I#7 nor in Death of a Universe, the two other issues that showed Arcanna's home. Similarly, there was no mention of Crowley when Lamprey abducted Philip and the kids in Squadron Supreme I#5.

    Crowley is almost certainly named after real world English occultist Aleister Crowley (1875-1947 A.D.), presumably indicating that Aleister existed on Earth-712 as well.
    Aleister Crowley has AT LEAST been referenced on Earth-616, notably in (according to the Marvel Database) Over the Edge#7 (1996), Carnage II#7 (2016), and Captain America: Steve Rogers#5 (2016).
