THE BAPHOMET

Classification: Terrestrial night club

(identified) Great Lakes Avengers I#2 (January, 2017)

Powers/Abilities/Functions: The Baphomet functioned as a typical nightclub with areas for dancing and a full bar that served alcoholic drinks.

History:
(Great Lakes Avengers I#2 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, criminal Nain Rouge purchased the Baphomet club in Detroit, Michigan.

(Great Lakes Avengers I#1) - After witnessing the Great Lakes Avengers arrive at their new headquarters at the former Stark Assembly and Manufacturing plant, criminals Shriek and Firebrand returned to the Baphomet club, where they discussed who would tell their boss about the heroes.

(Great Lakes Avengers I#2) - A crowd of young hipsters crowded, each looking at their cellphones, outside of the Baphomet club as loud music played from inside the club. When the music emanated into the old Stark Assembly plant that was being used by the heroic Great Lakes Avengers, the Great Lakes Avengers stormed over to the Baphomet to speak to the manager. After being told that Nain Rouge owned the club, the Great Lakes Avengers confronted him and he gloated about the money he made buying up businesses. When Nain Rouge insulted the GLA and made comments about Big Bertha's past relationship with her teammate Mister Immortal, Big Bertha expressed hope that Nain Rouge had good insurance before slamming him through the wall of the Baphomet.

(Great Lakes Avengers I#3) - Big Bertha, Doorman and the newest Great Lakes Avenger Good Boy visited the Baphomet in hopes of finding a lead regarding the recent legal injunction that prevented them from performing superheroic acts. Once inside the Baphomet, however, Doorman was pulled into his own doorway, leaving Bertha and Good Boy on their own. Their investigation soon led them into the office of Nain Rouge, where they found the criminal, unmasked as city councilman Dick Snerd and bleeding out.

(Great Lakes Avengers I#6 (fb) - BTS) - Following Dick Snerd's outing as the criminal Nain Rouge, young hipster Doug and his live-in graphic designer/life coach Geoff began talks to purchase the Baphomet club.

Some online sources list the Baphomet club as being mentioned in Great Lakes Avengers I#4 but I could not find it mentioned in that issue. If someone finds an example of the club being directly mentioned in that issue, let me know and I'll add it to the profile!
