History: (Avengers VII#18 (fb)) - After being genetically created, the genetic simulacra that would become the Squadron Supreme of America were implanted with false memories of their supposed superheroic origins and American values and loyalty. While testing the implanted memories in Hyperion and Power Princess, Agent Coulson had scientists tweak Power Princess' memories to make her arrogant and later, after the implanted memories were in effect, Coulson checked in on the Nighthawk simulacrum, who was exercising and feeling as if Hyperion and Power Princess' supposed love affair felt manufactured. As Coulson watched, Nighthawk began to suspect that the Squadron Supreme of America were being mentally influenced by an outside source. Unaware that his suspicions, doubt and jealousy were also implanted memories, Nighthawk continued exercising and Coulson informed the scientists working with the Squadron's memories to make sure Nighthawk had a dream about his supposed mother. Coulson then checked in on the Blur simulacrum alongside the Dr. Spectrum simulacrum as the Blur was forced to watch Jihadist execution videos and secret celebrity sex tapes. Unaware that he himself was a simulacra, Dr. Spectrum (in his guise as Col. Joseph Ledger) argued against the Blur's treatment and demanded the project be shut down, only to have Coulson override his implanted memories and force Ledger to allow Coulson to continue his experiments.

(Avengers VII#10) - Agent Phil Coulson met with General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross to discuss the Avengers' lack of cooperation with Ross and his government power elite and presented Ross with the Squadron Supreme of America, whom Coulson referred to as America's newest and greatest heroes.

(Avengers VII#11 (fb)) - When Namor the Sub-Mariner's forces attacked a Roxxon Oil Drilling Platform in Alaska, they were quickly repelled by the Squadron Supreme of America during the trial public debut.

(Avengers VII#11 - BTS) - While interrogating a traitor in the power elite, Agent Coulson revealed that the Squadron Supreme of America had made their public debut repelling Namor in Alaska and that the Avengers would soon learn about the Squadron on the power elite's terms.

(Avengers VII#18 (fb) - BTS) - Agent Coulson kept the Squadron Supreme of America training hard for the eventuality that they would be needed to protect America.

(Avengers VII#18) - As Washington, D.C. was invaded by Asgardian Frost Giants during the so-called War of the Realms, Agent Coulson assembled the Squadron Supreme of America to save the country. Flying into action, the Squadron Supreme of America fought back against the Frost Giants and Hyperion and Power Princess flew through the chest of one of the Giants. Hyperion ordered the Frost Giants to surrender and announced that America was under the Squadron's protection. Nighthawk then followed up, taking down another Frost Giant using well-placed explosives, and the Blur killed another Frost Giant by trapping him in a superhuman speed-generated whirlwind. When the other Frost Giants fled into Maryland, the Squadron's Dr. Spectrum pursued and killed the two fleeing Frost Giants, suggesting to the other Squadron members that they round up the remaining Frost Giants and regroup at Lake Erie. He then ended communication with "God Bless America." Agent Coulson subsequently met with his master, the Hell Lord Mephisto, who commended Coulson on the Squadron Supreme of America's performance against the Frost Giants as the Squadron Supreme met at Lake Erie to make sure the Frost Giants fled America into Canada. Power Princess suggested following the Frost Giants into Canada to kill those remaining but the other Squadron members reminded her that were America's greatest heroes, not Canada's. The Squadron Supreme of America then flew off and Nighthawk reported back to Coulson, suggesting the Squadron split up to take the fight against the Frost Giants to America's major population centers. Coulson agreed that Nighthawk's plan was a good plan but instead ordered the Squadron Supreme of America to go to Ohio, as it was a "battleground state."

(Free Comic Book Day 2019: Avengers/Savage Avengers#1) - When Namor's Defenders of the Deep attacked a Roxxon Oil pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico, the Squadron Supreme of America came to Roxxon's defense. During their battle against the Defenders of the Deep, Coulson had the Squadron report back to him and when Nighthawk suggested destroying Atlantis, Coulson declined Nighthawk's suggestion and instead ordered the Squadron to push the Defenders out of American waters. Power Princess then took the fight to the Defenders' Manowar while Hyperion and Namor battled one-on-one.

(Avengers VII#21) - Black Panther infiltrated the Pentagon to discuss with Agent Coulson the impending confrontation between the Avengers and Coulson's Squadron Supreme of America. When Coulson asked if Black Panther was threatening the Squadron, Black Panther revealed his knowledge that Coulson was a murderer and asked if his Squadron knew the truth. Coulson responded by asking Black Panther to ask the Squadron himself as he summoned the Squadron Supreme of America into the room. Informing the Squadron Supreme of America that he did not come to fight, the Black Panther suggested the Squadron ask themselves why they trusted Coulson, who did not appear to have America's best interests at heart. Hyperion demanded Black Panther halt his "lies" and prepared to take Black Panther into custody but Black Panther instead teleported away, reminding the Squadron Supreme of America that the Avengers were not their enemies unless the Squadron forced them to be. Returning to Avengers Mountain, Black Panther accessed all Avengers data on Phil Coulson and Squadron Supreme.

(Incoming!#1 - BTS) - After the Avengers met with the Defenders of the Deep and Captain America expressed concern of a potential war with Atlantis, Black Panther admitted that the Avengers had enough to worry about with the fallout from the recent War of the Realms, Dracula and his vampiric minions, a new Star Brand and the government-controlled Squadron Supreme of America.

Comments: Created by Jason Aaron, David Marquez, Ed McGuinness, Frazer Irving, Adam Kubert and Andrea Sorrentino.

To make it clear where Mephisto fits into the Squadron's aliases, Mephisto was the one manipulated Agent Coulson, who in turn, created the Squadron Supreme of America.
