History: (Deadpool & the Mercs for Money I#3 (fb) - BTS) - The Ozarks Kingpin had shady dealings with numerous supervillains, eventually taking Rocksalt as his sidekick and developing such a reputation that his very existence became the stuff of myth, with stories about him being told to scare amateur mercenaries.

(Deadpool & the Mercs for Money I#3) - During an auction in which the mercenary Deadpool attempted to sell a damaged Rigellian Recorder to the highest supervillain bidder, the Ozarks Kingpin made himself known when a supervillain brawl broke out and he aided Deadpool in stopping the assassin Lord Deathstrike from acquiring the Recorder. Shocked to see whom he thought to be a myth, Deadpool was told by the Ozarks Kingpin that he needn't worry about who he was, only why the Ozarks Kingpin had come to the auction. The Ozarks Kingpin then bid one billion dollars for the damaged, future prediction-spouting Recorder and Deadpool happily sold the Recorder to the Ozarks Kingpin. With the deal done, the Ozarks Kingpin announced an end to supervillain brawling, reminding them all who he was and about his reputation. He then asked if, based on that knowledge, any supervillain had anything cross to say to him about his acquisition of the Recorder, prompting all of the villains present to remain silent. The Ozarks Kingpin then turned to Deadpool and agreed to buy the Recorder on the condition that Deadpool and his Mercs for Money provide security during the transport of the Recorder back to the Ozarks Kingpin's headquarters. After Deadpool agreed, the Ozarks Kingpin paid Deadpool the one billion dollars in mason jars full of cash and the Mercs for Money subsequently packed up the Recorder and met up with the vampire trucker Highwayman, who would be transporting the Recorder to the Ozarks Kingpin.

(Deadpool & the Mercs for Money I#5) - Deadpool and his Mercs for Money arrived at the Ozarks Kingpin's hillbilly stronghold, where the Ozarks Kingpin greeted them and asked if the Recorder was still intact, as he needed the robot for its precognitive predictions. Deadpool assured the Ozarks Kingpin that his robot was safe and sound, leading him to the back of the Highwayman's truck. Upon walking around to the back of the truck, however, the Ozarks Kingpin and Deadpool encountered the villainous Crazy Gang, prompting the Ozarks Kingpin to ask if he had been set up. He then grabbed Deadpool and demanded to know if the Mercs for Money had been followed, as the Ozarks Kingpin's headquarters was only known to his valued retainers and closest kin. Deadpool shrugged off the Ozarks Kingpin's threats and yelled for the Ozarks Kingpin to duck as the Crazy Gang's Executioner swung his axe at the Ozarks Kingpin's head. After the Mercs for Money jumped into battle against the Crazy Gang and Deadpool was attacked by Evil Deadpool, the Ozarks Kingpin jumped into the battle as well, lifting the Crazy Gang's Knave over his head. Realizing that the Recorder had to be destroyed to prevent it falling into the wrong hands, Deadpool tossed a grenade into the Highwayman's truck as the Mercs for Money and Ozarks Kingpin defeated the Crazy Gang, sending them retreating. Commending Deadpool on protecting the Recorder, the unaware Ozarks Kingpin admitted that the Mercs for Money had earned every penny he paid them for the safe delivery of the Recorder just as Deadpool's grenade went off, destroying the Recorder. An angry Ozarks Kingpin demanded to have words with Deadpool, who revealed his suspicions that the Recorder had engineered every bit of trouble caused by its existence. The Ozarks Kingpin then reluctantly agreed, admitting that he had only wanted the Recorder to prevent his enemies from acquiring it and that he had no intention of using its predictions, as he believed a man made his own destiny. The Ozarks Kingpin then announced that there was no reason to kill the Mercs for Money but when Deadpool began ranting about all of the trouble they had brought the Ozarks Kingpin then asked about payment, remarking that while they certainly didn't earn the full payment but maybe deserved a small fee, the Ozarks Kingpin warned Deadpool not to push his luck. Deadpool then nervously announced that the Ozarks Kingpin's down payment was more than enough and departed.
