History:
(Deadpool: The Gauntlet#8 Infinite Comic/Deadpool: Dracula's Gauntlet#4/2) - Tired of waiting for Deadpool to deliver his bride-to-be Shiklah to Monster Metropolis Dracula sent his new Frightful Four out to find Deadpool and bring Shiklah to him. From the ranks of the new Frightful Four Dracula considered Marcus his secret weapon and a perfect soldier with no weaknesses because he was a centaur warrior bitten by a werewolf and bonded to a symbiote. Marcus pointed out though that he was diabetic.

(Deadpool: The Gauntlet#9 Infinite Comic/Deadpool: Dracula's Gauntlet#5/1) - The new Frightful Four were waiting at the entrance of St. Patrick's Cathedral and called him out. Deadpool jumped through a window to the outside, then surprised the Frightful Four by blowing up the cathedral's entrance with C4, splitting them up in the process.

(Deadpool: The Gauntlet#10 Infinite Comic/Deadpool: Dracula's Gauntlet#5/2) - Deadpool battled the Frightful Four. Marcus managed to block Deadpool's bullets with his sword. When Deadpool chocked him with a snake Marcus transformed his arm into a doghead to grab Deadpool and toss him in the direction of Frankenstein's Monster. Marcus faced off with Deadpool by himself after Deadpool set fire to the Mummy, but not before using insulin at midnight to make sure his blood sugar was in proper balance. Deadpool gave him the break, but when the battle continued he quickly cut off Marcus' front hooves and then used a steamroller to run Marcus over in a liquid cement pit. Brood mercenary Xzax was shocked by Marcus' seeming death.

SECRET WARS III HAPPENED (see sub-profile)

(Deadpool & Cable: Split Second#4 Infinite Comic/Deadpool & Cable: Split Second#2 (fb) - BTS) - Marcus got better and received robot legs. (see comments)

(Deadpool VI#28) - Werewolf by Night was having some drinks the Mummy, Frankenstein's Monster, Invisible Man and Marcus in Monster Metropolis. Werewolf was worried after Shiklah had called to arms all monsters across the globe for her plan to turn New York City into her people's new capital, though he couldn't wait for a chance to take revenge on her husband Deadpool for blowing his head off. Marcus, now with robot legs, kind of thought Jack had deserved to get his head blown off for sleeping with Deadpool's wife Shiklah, but Jack defended his actions because she was the boss and he couldn't decline her offer. Marcus hoped monsters would finally win something because Shiklah was in possession of the Scepter of the Manticore. He wondered if the monsters from the old countries would answer the call to arms.

(Spider-Man/Deadpool#15) - After Camper van Helsing, a descendant of Abraham van Helsing and employee at Parker Industries, rendered her invention the Sandman ineffective by decreasing its radius to zero, Shiklah, who wanted to use the device to make every human in New York City fall asleep, had Marcus, Frankenstein's Monster, the Mummy and Man-Thing teleported to Parker Industries as her Plan B to deal with Deadpool and Spider-Man, but they fled the scene with Camper before a battle could break out.

(Deadpool VI#29) - Marcus, Frankenstein's Monster, Werewolf and the Mummy joined the battle between monsters and vampires in Monster Metropolis. The factions ended their battle when the ghost of Benjamin Franklin convinced them to stand up against their monarchs and not be used by them against each other. When Shiklah and her new husband Dracula returned to Monster Metropolis their subjects, including Marcus, wouldn't bow to them. Marcus revealed the monsters would rather die than live another day under their monarchs' rule. After some fighting Shiklah persuaded Dracula to leave Monster Metropolis with her because even though she loved her subjects she had better things to do then to force them to live under her rule. Marcus and the other monsters celebrated their victory and it was decided, after Werewolf suggested it, that the Invisible Man should act as interim executive until fair and secure elections could be held. Marcus hushed the Mummy when he pointed out the Invisible Man had skipped town as soon as the battle began because nobody would notice it anyway.

Marcus was a multi-layered joke that climaxed in his battle with Deadpool. When he returned after his seeming death he became just another warm body in the ranks of Monster Metropolis...with dialogue and diabetes.

Markus pretty much became a citizen of Monster Metropolis after getting hired by Dracula. It is unknown where he originally came from, but one could surmise it was from Olympus.

The series Deadpool: Dracula's Gauntlet collected the digital series Deadpool: The Gauntlet. A teaser for the digital series named Deadpool: The Gauntlet#1 was published in print the same month the digital series started.

Deadpool & Cable: Split Second was another digital series, which was later collected in print. This series marked the first time Marcus was seen alive following Secret Wars, though it was in a divergent timeline set 20 years in the future. The changes to his character seen in #4 of this digital series directly reflected how he was later depicted on the Prime Earth (the editorially dictated designation for the main Marvel Universe's Earth following Secret Wars). Alive and kicking with new robotic legs!

Marcus only appeared on Reilly Brown's cover for Deadpool and the Mercs for Money II#10 (June, 2017), but not in the story. The reason for this was that the "'Til Death do us...part" crossover had connecting covers (actual two), which didn't necessarily show the characters used inside the issue.

In Deadpool VI#28 it was alluded to that Shiklah at least subconsciously remembered her time on Battleworld when she revealed that she found the long-lost Scepter of the Manticore because she knew where to search for it it after going onto a spiritual walkabout through the underworld when Earth-616 and Earth-1610 smashed together. This is kind of what she did in Mrs. Deadpool and the Howling Commandos and Marcus was one of the Howling Commandos working with her in the series. The series started out as an alternate take on the events of Deadpool: Dracula's Gauntlet with Deadpool dying at the hands of Dracula and the Frightful Four being called the Howling Commandos with a slightly different and larger roster. Big difference for Marcus was that he never lost his legs in a fight with Deadpool on Battleworld. It can be argued Marcus from Secret Wars was the same as the Earth-616 version, but there is the slight chance he was the survivor from an alternate reality.

MARCUS of BATTLEWORLD

Group Membership: Howling Commandos (Frankenstein's Monster, Invisible Man, Living Mummy, Man-Thing, Werewolf by Night)

Affiliations: Shiklah

Enemies: Charon, Dracula, unidentified wizard at the Temple of the Manticore, vampires, zombies

(Mrs. Deadpool and the Howling Commandos#2 (fb) - BTS) - The Howling Commandos plotted to overthrow Dracula. When Dracula suspected a traitor among them the Howling Commandos decided to pretend the Invisible Man was the traitor and fake his death.

(Mrs. Deadpool and the Howling Commandos#1) - Marcus sniffed out Invisible Man as the traitor among the Howling Commandos and helped take him down. He was rewarded with a box of insulin by Dracula. Marcus then helped the other Howling Commandos guard the corpses of Shiklah's brothers. Shiklah, who wanted to prepare her brothers for their burial, got into a fight with them and used Medusa's head to turn them into stone.

Shiklah found the incomplete Scepter of Manticore and a map to the scepter's head on her brothers' corpses. When she decided to go looking for it while taking her brothers' ashes to Hell, Dracula sent the Howling Commandos along with her as escorts (though he ordered Werewolf to make sure she never returned).

(Mrs. Deadpool and the Howling Commandos#2) - Shiklah went with the Howling Commandos to the River Styx where Charon sent zombies against them because he only wanted to bring them across the river after they were dead. After Shiklah and the Howlers defeated the zombies, Frankenstein's Monster slew Charon and Marcus used Charon's scythe to ferry them on the boat to the underworld. After dropping her brothers' ashes Shiklah tried to get rid of the Howling Commandos, but soon learned that Living Mummy had pickpocketed Medusa's head from her bag leaving behind a melon and bananas in it. Marcus liked fruit because it had the right kind of sugar to control his diabetes. Werewolf admitted Dracula had ordered them to kill her, but they were not going to do it because they wanted Dracula gone and even faked the death of Invisible Man, who was now spying on Dracula in his palace. Shiklah took the lead to continue their journey to find the head of the Scepter of the Manticore.

(Mrs. Deadpool and the Howling Commandos#3) - Shiklah traveled to Weirdworld with the Howling Commandos to the Temple of the Manticore. A wizard guarding the temple attacked them, but after Marcus used his symbiote to cut off the wizard's arm, Shiklah used the wizard's own arm to slay him. Shiklah and the Howlers found the Totem of the Manticore hidden in the ground under a sarcophagus. Living Mummy then used a teleport scroll to bring them all back where their journey began...at the bottom of the stairs that led them down to the River Styx. Another few hours of climbing the stairs awaited them before they returned to Monster Metropolis where they found Dracula slaying monsters left and right because he had found out the Invisible Man was still alive and spying on him.

(Mrs. Deadpool and the Howling Commandos#4) - Shiklah and the Howling Commandos battled Dracula and his vampire forces in Monster Metropolis. When Shiklah lost the Scepter of the Manticore during the battle Marcus and the Living Mummy worked together to retrieve it from the vampires, but Dracula slew them both decapitating Marcus in the process. Shiklah still won with the help of Deadpool's ghost only to be slain by the Thor Corps for trying to start a war against those living above Monster Metropolis.
