History:

(Avengers I#59 (fb) - BTS) - Small time gang leader Big Eddie was hired to rob a Manhattan furrier co-owned by J. Jonah Jameson. Opting for a tactical approach, Eddie didn't simply break in. He bribed the warehouse's nightwatchman, which allowed them access to the warehouse with relative ease. Under the cover of night, Eddie and the gang drove a lorry up to the furrier's and quickly set out to load the truck.

(Avengers I#59) - Even though the heist was going off without a hitch, Eddie was getting nervous. Carrying heavy furs in both hands and smoking a cigar, he told his underling Charlie to hurry up and not sleepwalk through the job. Charlie assured his boss he was working as fast as he could, claiming he couldn't wait to get the furs to a fence so they could get paid for their work. As they were loading the truck, Eddie was startled when he spotted a man on top of the warehouse. With the cigar dropping from his mouth, Eddie heard the man introduce himself as Yellowjacket. Too stunned to move, Eddie was knocked out when Yellowjacket jumped off the roof and  landed on him, fist first. Seeing their boss knocked out, Rocky and Charlie pulled their guns ready to attack "Mr. Yellabelly"  only to get zapped by the hero's stingers. After stopping the remaining member of Eddie's gang, Yellowjacket phoned the police and stayed with the still unconscious criminals until the authorities arrived.

(Avengers I#59 - BTS) - The Daily Bugle turned Yellowjacket and the arrest of Big Eddie into a front page story. Jameson was excited about the new hero, though his employees figured the main reason was the fact their boss owned the furrier's.

How times change, back in 1968 the notion of a furrier needing a warehouse was pretty common. Half a century later, legally owning a piece of ermine, fox or mink makes you the bad guy.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Big Eddie should not be confused with:

Charlie & Rocky

Charlie and Rocky were two gang members working for Big Eddie. They assisted him during the late night robbery of a Manhattan furrier. Their heist was foiled by the new hero Yellowjacket who easily dispatched Big Eddie. Charlie wanted to make a run for it, but Rocky reminded his partner in crime that without Eddie they wouldn't be getting paid. Both men pulled a gun on Yellowjacket, only to have it zapped out of their hands by his stingers. He then punched them out and called the police.
