History: (Ghost Rider III#1) - Pauline ("Paulie") Stratton and her friends in the Cypress Pool Jokers gang hid out in Cypress Hills Cemetary, where they scared Dan and Barbara Ketch, who were hoping to snap photos of psychics attempting to contact the deceased Harry Houdini. Terrifying Dan with a Halloween mask, Paulie attempted to grab Dan's camera bag before Barbara kicked Paulie. Paulie and the Cypress Hill Jokers then ran off, claiming that the Ketchs weren't worth their time. Upon hearing a gunshot moments later, Paulie and the Jokers decided to get a closer look, inadvertently witnessing Deathwatch kill the Kingpin's courier and Barbara Ketch getting shot. While Ralphie suggested the Cypress Pool Jokers get out of there, the curious Paulie investigated and retrieved the case that both the Kingpin's men and Deathwatch had been fighting over. Deathwatch immediately ordered his henchman to retrieve the case and moments later, Paulie had been apprehended by Deathwatch's henchmen. Before the henchmen could kill her, Paulie was rescued by Dan Ketch, who had just transformed into Ghost Rider for the first time. As Ghost Rider battled Deathwatch's henchmen, Paulie quietly snuck away with the case as the police arrived, whispering "thanks" to Ghost Rider as she departed. Continuing to trudge through Cypress Hills Cemetary, Paulie made her back to the Cypress Hill Jokers' mausoleum headquarters, where her friend Ralphie opened the case to reveal three canisters. Annoyed that it was not money or drugs and unaware the canisters actually contained a biotoxin, Paulie took Ralphie's suggestion to get rid of the canisters before the criminals came back to look for them and decided to hide the canisters where the criminals couldn't find them. Later, having tracked the case to Paulie's location, one of the Kingpin's goons came looking for the case and was about the shoot Paulie's friend Ralphie when one of Deathwatch's henchmen hurled a knife into Ralphie's chest. A fight soon broke out between the Kingpin's and Deathwatch's men and Paulie attempted to get the injured Ralphie to safety despite the gunfire erupting around them. Ghost Rider soon joined the fight as well and the Kingpin's goon grabbed Paulie during the battle and demanded to know where the case was. Paulie admitted that she had only hid one of the canisters in a mausoleum at Cypress Hills Cemetary and she couldn't remember where her friends Ralphie and Johnny had hid the other two. The goon was about the capture Paulie when Ghost Rider took out the goon with his chain and took both Paulie and Ralphie to St. John's Hospital. Paulie thanked Ghost Rider for saving her and helping get Ralphie to the Hospital before Ghost Rider departed.

(Ghost Rider III#3) - In protective custody at the 75th NYPD precinct in Brooklyn, Paulie desperately tried to recall where the third and final canister was after police recovered the first two canisters from Cypress Hills Cemetary. Det. McDermott continued trying to help Paulie remember when the lights in the precinct went out. Paulie soon found herself captured by Deathwatch and Blackout, who killed Det. McDermott and other police officers in the precinct. Taking Paulie to the Cypress Pool Jokers' mausoleum headquarters, Deathwatch and Blackout stormed the mausoleum and demanded that Paulie tell them where the third and final canister was. Still unable to remember, Paulie attempted to explain but Deathwatch ordered Blackout to kill Paulie's friend Angel, claiming that Paulie's lack of memory killed her friend. Deathwatch continued to warn Paulie that more of her friends would die until she revealed where the canister was but he was interrupted by the Kingpin's men outside. Outgunned, Deathwatch agreed to release Paulie and the two other canisters over to the Kingpin's men but Blackout instead attacked, stealing the canisters and Paulie and venturing into the dark woods nearby. As they walked, Paulie remembered that the third canister was in Matz's mausoleum. Blackout went inside the mausoleum and, upon exiting with the third canister, met Ghost Rider. As they two battled, Paulie snuck behind a gravestone, commenting to herself that Ghost Rider had sure made a habit of saving her. At that point, Paulie was abducted by someone else from the shadows.

(Ghost Rider III#9 (fb) - BTS) - Paulie Stratton was brought to the Morlock tunnels by the Morlocks in an effort to protect her against one of their own, Masque, who was kidnapping children to disfigure.

(Ghost Rider III#9) - Paulie met Ghost Rider, who had come to aid the Morlocks and was seeking to find the recent child abductor. Shortly thereafter, the anti-Ghost Rider HEART organization attacked, having followed Ghost Rider into the tunnels. Tracking seismic disturbances to the tunnels, X-Factor also arrived and protected the children when Blackout, who had also followed Ghost Rider, tried to lure the children away as hostages. Ghost Rider immediately leapt into battle against Blackout while HEART retreated due to the X-Factor's involvement. X-Factor led many of the children to safety as the seismic disturbances continued to flare while Blackout killed the Morlock Pixie, who asked that Ghost Rider get Paulie and the remaining children out of the tunnels. Determined to avenge Pixie's death, Ghost Rider summoned his cycle and had Paulie and the others ride the cycle to safety while he stayed behind to continue the fight against Blackout. The tunnels soon caved in as Paulie Stratton and the other missing children arrived safely above ground. One of the Morlocks then informed X-Factor that the children would be returned to their parents, as that was what Pixie would have wanted.

(Ghost Rider III#25) - When Michael Badilino and his Ghost Rider task force searched every inch of Cypress Hills Cemetary looking for Ghost Rider, the final mausoleum that they opened happened to be the headquarters of the Cypress Pool Jokers. Revealing to the police that they had heard gunshots during the night and had decided to stay in their mausoleum headquarters until the police left, Paulie asked if the police were planning on telling their parents, as her mother would be mad enough knowing that Paulie had been out all night. Annoyed that his search for Ghost Rider had turned up nothing, Badilino ordered his task force to leave. As they left, Paulie thanked the officers for not telling their parents and once the task force had all left, Paulie and the Cypress Pool Jokers opened the coffin inside their mausoleum to reveal the hidden Ghost Rider. Paulie asked Ghost Rider what he planned to do next but, with Dan Ketch gravely wounded, Ghost Rider replied that he was not sure. Despite Paulie's offer to help in any way, Ghost Rider commented that the only person who could help him was in New Orleans before Paulie asked how long the other coffins would hold the Firm's Mr. Stern and Blackout, whom had put in the coffins by Ghost Rider. Ghost Rider covered their coffins in chains, sealing them shut and warned Paulie and her friends to stay away from the Cemetary until he came back to decide what to do with Stern and Blackout.
