He wielded a large staff that served to channel his teknomagic abilities. Combined with a certain type of energy, he could generate spells that allowed to travel across dimensions with limited time travel abilities. He was also able to cast simple illusion spells. Ghath was considered a violent, power-hungry extremist and had a long scar over one eye.

History:

(Excalibur Annual#1/1 (fb) - BTS) - The dimension of Irth had become divided in war between the planet's surface dwellers (humans, fair elves, half elves) and those underground (dark elves, goblins, dwarves), with the human traitor Ghath leading the dark dwellers to victory over those on the surface on one continent called Dungertheb. Ghath desired more conquests and land to rule, and set his sights on the strategically placed island of Ameroth; however, this was held by Khaos, heir to the thrones of the dark elves and fair elves and who sought to unite the war-ravaged Irth.

(Excalibur Annual#1/1 (fb)) - Khaos declared a ceasefire but only Ghath refused to comply and targeted Ameroth to reach another continent, Terr'va. With his army of dark dwellers, he invaded the island but was instead captured by Khaos using IBIC, his teknomagic talisman, and his allies, Kamendae, Kromm, Longstrider and Quarto. Considered too high a risk to peace, he was sent into exile and teknomagically scattered across dimensions by a spell devised by Kamendae and Quarto, but instead landed on Earth-616. From there, Ghath was still able to wreak havoc on Irth with firestorms. He was soon located but a scrambling spell from him caused Khaos to land on Earth rather than the native warrior chosen to go after the extremist.

(Excalibur Annual#1/1) - Excalibur tracked the magical disturbances that were causing pain to Cerise to an old castle. There they found Ghath, who had been able to quickly cast an illusion spell to disguise himself as a kindly-looking mage and told them that he was trying to quietly get back to his home dimension. Cerise remained suspicious and joined in subduing Khaos who had suddenly burst in and attacked. Ghath claimed the dark elf was an assassin and asked that take him to be punished but was denied this by Excalibur.

Khaos later told Cerise of Ghath's true nature. She then went to investigate and found the villain engaged in another teknomagic transdimensional attack. He promptly overpowered her and then fought the newly escaped Khaos, blocking a blast from IBIC. Excalibur soon arrived and Ghath was able to hold them all off before stealing IBIC and then burning through the stone floor. Ghath finally recognized IBIC's energy channeling as an aid to help him escape and quickly generated a portal to return to Irth, using teknomagic to land several months before Khaos and Excalibur were able to follow through the same fading portal. In the meantime, Ghath had marshaled a large armada and used it to attack Ameroth once more. Excalibur fought alongside Ameroth's depleted forces and demolished the fleet. Khaos confronted Ghath, who suggested that this fight had been planned and was not nearly over. However, he was then beheaded by Khaos' twin swords.
