Powers/Abilities: LaGrange was a normal human who had good writing skills as a newspaper reporter and pursued stories for his newspaper, potentially to increase his profile. He had loose ethical standards and protected the sources of his information.

History:

(Daredevil I#242) - At the Daily Bugle, Simon La Grange was contacted over the phone by a young man named Joe who, after murdering a rich man and being unable to get the police to respond, wanted to tell his story to clear his conscience. Sensing the opportunity of a great story for the front page of the newspaper, he convinced Joe not to call the police and organized a meeting so that he could interview him and tell his side of the story. Joe agreed and provided him with the address. As he left the Bugle, LaGrange told Suzie to tell James to hold the front page and that he would be back in an hour with a great story that would sell a million papers.

He arrived at the home of the murdered man and was surprised to see that Joe had made a statement with the murder and decorated the house with walls painted in red dollar signs. After hearing the killer's side of the story, LaGrange asked to be his voice so that the rich should watch out or Joe would come and get them.

(Daredevil I#242 - BTS) - The next morning, the story broke on the front page of the Daily Bugle and also headlined news all over the country.

(Daredevil I#242) - While talking to his editor Kate Cushing about setting up a face-to-face interview with the killer, LaGrange was confronted by an angry Ben Urich who accused him of catering to the whims of a madman who had murdered good, charitable people and felt the Bugle was responsible for these deaths because they gave the killer power as long as the stories were in print. Telling Ben Urich that he would sell the exclusive rights to a major TV network, LaGrange was called a sleaze and scum.

(Daredevil I#242 - BTS) - The police investigated Simon LaGrange because they felt that he set up a secret meeting with the killer who was now being referred to as the "Caviar Killer". He told the police that even if he knew where the killer was, he would not reveal his whereabouts. The Police Commissioner charged the Bugle for fuelling the killer's rage.

(Daredevil I#242) - A live TV interview was set up at an undisclosed location between Simon LaGrange and the Caviar Killer with a group of followers dubbed the $ Cult. During the interview, Daredevil dropped in, having followed LaGrange, and tried to convince the men of the $ Cult to go home or they would become accomplices to murder. While the TV cameras rolled, the $ Cult attacked Daredevil in order to protect Joe. Simon LaGrange provided colorful commentary about the viciousness of Daredevil's assault on the working man, belittling him as a hero and so-called protector.

After the battle between Daredevil and the Caviar Killer ended, the police stormed the TV location and La Grange was arrested alongside the Caviar Killer and then taken away in handcuffs.
