History(Incredible Hulk II#121 (fb)) - Timms was a convict serving time in prison until he received a letter from the love of his life telling of how she was dying. He escaped from prison to see her, but drowned in the swamp. His body lay there for years.

(Incredible Hulk II#121) - The Hulk passed by the swamp in which Timms had drowned and threw a barrel of radioactive waste into it. The radioactive waste merged Timms with the swamp, creating a powerful behemoth: The Glob.

The Glob wandered to a military base on which dwelled Betty Ross. Confused, the Glob mistook Betty for his lost love and kidnapped her. Luckily for Betty, the Hulk came upon them and fought the Glob only to discover that his fists couldn’t hurt the Glob. As Glob took Betty into the radioactive swamp that created him, the water dissolved him into nothingness.

(Incredible Hulk II#129) - After learning of the existence of the Glob, the Leader resurrected the creature and planted an image in its brain of the Hulk attacking Betty. The creature then rampaged across the country, headed towards Los Angeles, where Banner was in hiding. There, it found Banner hiding in a sewer system and attacked him. Turning into the Hulk, Banner fought the Glob, and the two made their way to the surface, and ultimately to a power plant. The Hulk led the Glob up a tower and electrocuted him. The Glob fell; upon impact, the building exploded, blowing the Glob apart. However, some time later, the pieces of his body began to reform.

(Giant-Size Man-Thing#1 (fb) -BTS) - However, as the Glob reformed, it couldn't sustain its lifeforce and began to die. Yagzan, the leader of a group called the Cult of Entropy, found the partially reformed Glob and realized that the brain was the only part that was still alive, slowly succumbing to the death of the rest of its body. Yagzan located it and removed it from the body, dubbing it The Golden Brain. Yagzan nursed the Brain back to health and encased it in a globe where it could thrive. He imbued the Brain with a part of himself, forming a mental link with it and enabling him to control it.

(Giant-Size Man-Thing#1) - While trying to stop the production of Omegaville, an energy project that Yagzan’s Cult of Entropy opposed, Yagzan revealed the Golden Brain to his enemies. Nearby, the Man-Thing felt the anger of the men and was drawn to the emotions. Startled, Yagzan used the Golden Brain to create a golden-hued Glob out of nothing, which fought with the Man-Thing before it was destroyed. The Golden Brain then grew extremely hot, causing Yagzan to drop it into the swamp water. After trying to remember its past, it managed to jump out of the water and form a new, handsome body for itself out of clay. The stress of the process caused a form of amnesia, and erased all of the new being’s previous memories away. He made his way to the Omegaville project, where he was dubbed "Joe" and hired to work there.

Yagzan and the Cult tracked him down, and using the part of Yagzan that was imbued in "Joe," entranced him. Horrified at the being’s transformation, Yagzan forced him to devolve as much as possible, into a gray clay-like monster. Ordered to destroy Omegaville, the Glob proceeded to do so until the arrival of the Man-Thing, who beat and tore the creature into a shapeless mass of clay. Yagzan attempted to reform the Glob again, but the clay instead enveloped and suffocated him before hardening.

(Incredible Hulk II#197-198) - Later, Bruce Banner found the Glob's reformed human form wandering through the Everglades. However, the Collector attacked and reverted Timms into the Glob. He then took control of both the Glob and the Man-Thing and forced them to capture the Hulk. The Collector "collected" all three, but before long, they broke free, defeated the Collector, and left. The Glob stayed to gain vengeance on the Collector.

(OHotMU 2006#4 - BTS) - Timms somehow restored to a form resembling his original form as Glob.

(Savage Hulk I#1) – Glob was part of a large group of villains that attacked the Hulk at court in New York City.

(Nick Fury's Howling Commandos#2 (fb)-BTS) - At some point, S.H.I.E.L.D. found the Glob and brought it back to Area 13, where their Howling Commandos unit of "monsters" was based.

(Nick Fury's Howling Commandos#2) - After being fitted with a voice synthesizer, the Glob was welcomed by its new teammates Gorilla-Man and Warwolf. It witnessed Brother Voodoo collapsing after being struck by the essence of Merlin's forces.

(Nick Fury's Howling Commandos#4) - Glob was present with the other active Commandos when several of Merlin's creatures invaded Area 13.

(Nick Fury's Howling Commandos#5) - The Commandos fought the mystical creatures, but when they realized that Merlin's portal was still open, they jumped through it, followed by a group of stampeding giant monsters let loose from their cells. One of the giants stepped on Glob, but he proved resiliant, and rose none the worse for wear. While tracking down Merlin's base, they confronted Groot, one of the escaped giant monsters, who asked to aid them.

(Nick Fury's Howling Commandos#6) - Glob was among the dozens of Commando members who launched an assault on Merlin's forces.

(She-Hulk II#17) - Glob went AWOL and was caught again by the Hulkbusters in a swamp.

Comments: Created by Roy Thomas and Herb Trimpe.

The Hulk mistook a later creature he encountered in the swamp (Beckwith) for the original Glob, yet didn't recognize the Man-Thing, whom he encountered in a shared adventure.

For the record, I prefer his original "hairy" look to the generic clay look he took on his later appearances.

Both Globs received a joint entry in the All-New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe 2006#4. Timms' wife's name was revealed here.
