As a Kree female, she may or may not have had the ability to psychically manipulate the desires of men (if so, she may have had this ability removed in her youth.
Although loyal to the Kree and her
underground, she valued her friendship with Suzy Sherman enough to
ignore the goal of grooming her to become the Universal Unifier.
Amber wears glasses, but it is not
revealed what her specific visual limitation is, or, perhaps whether
she wears then cosmetically as part of her human identify but doesn't
actually have any visual limitation.
History:
(Ultragirl#2
(fb) - BTS) - Ahmbra was part of a pink Kree underground on
Earth who
felt that Tsu-Zana was "the prophecy come to life, the one who
would
bind and free the Kree people, the Universal Unifier," who
would free their empire from its then-current occupation by the rival
Shi’ar Empire and put an end to the blue-skinned Kree minority’s
tyrannical dominance within Kree society as well.
Unaware of her non-human nature,
Tsu-Zana was raised as Suzy Sherman, believing herself to be the
daughter of her adoptive human parents, Toby and Barbara Sherman.
The Kree underground monitored and
watched out for Suzy her whole life.
(Ultragirl#1 (fb) - BTS) - Amber as a close friend of Suzy Sherman, along with athletic Chiyomi Abraham, brainy wordsmith Gretchen Mayer and fashion-savvy Melody Hogan.
(Ultragirl#1
(fb) - BTS) - After Suzy discovered her superhuman powers in a
public
conflict with a Sentinel that had identified her as a mutant,
she was
dubbed Ultragirl.
Seeing
this on the news, Amber left a message on Suzy's voice mail,
telling her that it was really important that they spoke right
away and
told her to call her.
(Ultragirl#1) - Returning home and getting her messages, Suzi called Amber; when Amber wanted to discuss the matter, Suzy instead invited her over to her house, along with Chiyomi, Gretch & Melody. Amber remained silent until Melody noted that they might end up on TV, at which point she questioned what if they didn't want attention. She asked Suzy to speak to her privately about "this Ultragirl thing," noting it not to be a good idea and that she did not know what kind of things she might stir up. There was too much going on for Suzy to get into things any further with Amber, and so Amber asked Suzy's ex-boyfriend, Seth, to tell her she was making a big mistake and that she had so much to lose. However, as her secret was already out and her identity was public, Suzy felt that she may as well ride the wave and enjoy it.
(Ultragirl#1
- BTS) - Ultragirl learned of her nature as a mutant alien from
the
Sentinel, whose form she dismantled, leaving only its braincase,
chest
battery and connector cables.
(Ultragirl#1)
- The other Kree met, and Bheton noted with frustration that
they had
watched out for her whole life, and now she had gone public and
didn't
know the truth, which could ruin everything.
(Ultragirl#2) - Amber silently watched
Ultragirl's televised press conference alongside Chiyomi,
Gretch
& Melody. While Suzy's other friends were excited about her
new identity, Amber left the room to make a call. She
subsequently
reported to her Kree allies after Suzy had been badly burnt
battling
one of Effex's armatures, and she asked if she should come home.
Meeting
with her Kree allies, Amber tearfully noted that she had tried
to talk Suzy out of her Ultragirl plan, but that she had not
been able
to get her alone. Dandre criticized that that was what came from
sending a child to do an adult's work, but Zenna silenced him,
noting
that Ahmbra had been the best choice to hold such a secret and
go about
daily life and commending her on having done a splendid job.
When Zenna
assured the others that Tsu-Zana would still lead the Kree out
of their
Shi'ar submission, Ahmbra added that she would also end the
tyranny of
the blues, and Zenna confirmed this, but added that that would
follow.
Bheton
voiced that Tsu-Zana was about to risk everything with "this
stupid grandstanding" and hoped that the Shi'ar spies had not
yet
noticed. He continued that she must be told of her destiny to
understand why she must cease this public display. Ahmbra
replied with
frustration that she knew she would have to be the one to tell
Suzy,
and she added that Suzy would not believe her until she had met
all of
them.
(Ultragirl#3 - BTS) - Amber called Suzy, telling her that her people needed her desperately, and to meet her (either at Amber's home or some meeting place for the Kree underground).
(Ultragirl#3)
-
After Suzy arrived, Amber introduced her to their mentor,
Bheton;
their elder, Zenna; and Madame Singhre and Dandre. After Suzy
recognized Singhre as her her physician, Dr. Singer, Bheton
explained
that they were all Kree, and Zenna revealed Suzy's true identity
and
told her of her destiny. The others explained why she had to go
underground, but Suzy rejected the group and their plans and
recommendations.
When Suzy got a call from Speedball about meeting to battle Effex, Amber suggested that Ultragirl could seemingly die in battle, leaving her free to covertly fulfill her duty. However, Suzy departed, telling the group she had no duty to them and that she had thought she had known some of them, but that she must have been wrong. After Suzy had flown away, Amber said, "I thought you'd understand. Please don't hate me."
When
Amber later met up with Suzy, she told Suzy that she wished she
had stay there with her friends, and the two remained friends.
(All-New
