(Crimefighters I#1 (fb)) - In 1925, Captain Warren took a leave from the RCMP to visit his sister Madeleine in Ottawa, where she had just announced her engagement to Nat Keller. Warren found Keller to be familiar and soon realized he had been picked up in Montreal for armed robbery. Keller insisted that Warren couldn't pin any crimes on him or prevent his marriage to Madeleine. Warren conceded that his sister was old enough to know what she was doing.
In 1926, Warren was sent to Montreal to assist in a murder investigation. To his horror, Warren recognized the murder victim as his sister Madeleine. The local RCMP chief intended to catch the killer but Warren was determined to complete the investigation himself. Warren suspected Keller had murdered his sister but first required evidence. Fortunately, fingerprint evidence proved Keller had been present at the murder scene. Soon after in Manton, a trading post keeper and his daughter were killed by someone using the same gun as Keller; Warren followed the trail north toward Rawlin's Bay. At the RCMP post there, Warren met Pookah's daughter, who had just escaped Keller. She directed Warren to the Inuit village where she had left Keller.
When Warren neared the Inuit village he was ambushed by Keller and shot in the right arm. Keller fled again but the Inuit people saved Warren's life with the first aid kit he had carried. The Inuit informed Warren they had given Keller a dogsled but deliberately gave him the weakest dogs in the hope that he would die in the wilderness. However, Warren was determined to bring Keller back alive. After days spent recovering, Warren took a dogsled into the wilderness in pursuit of Keller. Keller tried to shoot at Warren again but was so nervous that both of his shots missed. Warren beat Keller with his fists then brought him back to face justice. Weeks later, Keller was tried and sentenced to death.
(Crimefighters I#1) - On April 14, 1927 in Ottawa, Warren observed Nat Keller's execution by hanging. When Warren said that his sister had been avenged another Mountie asked him to explain that remark. Warren told the other Mountie the story of his sister's death and Keller's capture. Warren explained that he brought Keller back alive because he wanted Keller to be tried by jury and sentenced to death as a murderer because it was important for him as an officer of the law to remain in control of his emotions and fulfill the trust of the people who had given him the responsbility of enforcing the law. Warren hoped that Keller's execution would deter other criminals.

Nat Keller was an American criminal who moved to Montreal and met Madeleine Warren. He was picked up for armed robbery at point and Madeleine's brother Peter recognized him from police reports but didn't prevent Nat from marrying Madeleine in 1925. A year later Nat murdered Madeleine when she refused to give him the money she had saved and Nat went on the run as Peter soon picked up his trail. After murdering a trading post keeper and his daughter, Nat fled toward Rawlin's Bay. Pookah offered hospitality to Keller but when Keller made advances towards Pookah's daughter he offended him and Keller killed Pookah for resisting him. Keller took Pookah's daughter as a hostage to avoid retribution from the other Inuit but later he set her free. She was found by Captain Warren, who directed him to Keller's location. Keller set up an ambush for Warren and shot him but Warren survived and resumed the chase. Keller forced the Inuit to give him a dogsled but they deliberately gave him their weakest dogs and he was left stranded in the wilderness. When Warren caught up to him again Keller was weakened and nervous; although he fired his gun at Warren twice he missed both times. Warren defeated Keller with his bare hands then brought him back to Ottawa to face justice. Keller was tried by jury and sentenced to death. Warren observed Keller's execution on April 14, 1927.
Nat carried a .455 Webley-Vickers handgun.

Pookah was an Inuit man who lived near Rawlin's Bay in northern Ontario with his daughter. He offered hospitality to Nat Keller when Keller came through the area but when Keller made inappropriate advances towards his daughter, Pookah was offended. Keller struck Pookah and when Pookah picked up a spear for defense, Keller shot him to death with his gun.

Madeleine Warren was the sister of Peter Warren. She fell in love with Nat Keller and married him in 1925 despite the misgivings of her brother, who had identified Keller as a criminal. While living in Montreal in 1926, Nat demanded Madeleine give him the money she had saved; Madeleine refused and Nat murdered her. Peter took up the murder investigation and pursued Keller into the north, bringing him back alive to face justice for Madeleine's death.
