History:

(Psi-Force I#19 (fb) - BTS) - Toocheetsch was a Russian man who became a paranormal after the White Event (July 22, 1986). Although a very kind man, he joined the Medusa Web mercenary army so that he could earn the money he needed so that his parents could leave the USSR.

(Psi-Force I#18) - The Medusa Web took an assignment from the C.I.A. to capture the teenaged paranormal members of Psi-Force. On December 12, 1987, after one group of Medusa Web operatives failed to capture two members of Psi-Force in Seattle, Washington, the Medusa Web's leader Babel directed a team comprised of Toocheetsch, Gatto di Sangue, Potiphar, Relampago, Skybreaker and Troublemaker to locate the other three Psi-Force members: Thomas Boyd, Anastasia Inyushin and Kathy Ling.

(Psi-Force I#19 (fb) - BTS) - On December 24, 1987, the Medusa Web fought Boyd, Inyushin and Ling but the three teenagers evaded capture. They clashed again soon after in San Clemente.

(Psi-Force I#19) - On January 2, 1988, the Medusa Web followed Boyd, Inyushin and Ling to San Diego, where the teens attempted to hide in Horton Plaza. Ling attempted to crush the Medusa Web by telekinetically dropping a pillar on them but Toocheetsch caught the pillar, saving his allies. Toocheetsch later tried to capture Ling in the plaza but she delivered a telekinetically-enhanced punch to Toocheetsch that hurled him through the air. Once all three teenagers were beaten, the C.I.A. brusquely claimed custody of them and paid off the Medusa Web, ending the assignment.

(Justice II#26/2) - On October 13, 1988, Babel informed Toocheetsch that his parents had been successfully liberated from the USSR by the Medusa Web and resettled in Greece for their protection. In exchange, Babel had Toocheetsch embark on a plot to assume the appearance of Mikhail Gorbachev. Over weeks, the Medusa Web employed scientists to help Toocheetsch compress his body mass (rendering him even more durable than before); he also reduced his height by two feet; a dancer from the Theatre Musical de Paris taught him the correct body posture; a dermatological team from Beverly Hills performed a hair graft and a makeup artist dyed his head (to replicate Gorbachev's distinctive birthmark). Although Toocheetsch struggled to correctly memorize all the information necessary to maintain the deception, Babel ultimately judged he was ready to perform in his new role.
