    She could magically heal an injured wing of the Flock dragon Lockheed.

    She also appeared to have some telepathic abilities, and she could apparently read the mind of Lockheed to determine his real name and the location of his close friend.

    She also had some measure of clairvoyance, as she was able to sense the location of Kitty Pryde after sensing Lockheed's attachment to her.

History:

(X-Men Unlimited I#43/2 (fb) - BTS) - A magic-user of unrevealed origins, the girl known as Thorne attended a private school along with the twins Martina and Regina Wolcroft, who were also magic-users. Although the Wolcroft sisters used their powers to intimidate, torment and otherwise manipulate the rest of the town, Thorne used her powers to disrupt their spells when they caused overt problems.

    Martina and Regina wished to defeat Thorne and achieve dominance over her.

(X-Men Unlimited I#43/2 (fb) - BTS) - Lockheed the dragon suffered an injured left wing and believed his close friend Kitty Pryde to have perished.

(X-Men Unlimited I#43/2 - BTS) - The injured Lockheed was taken in and befriended the Wolcroft sisters, who called him "Dragon." Regina wanted to show Thorne to make her jealous, but Martina told her to wait until the time was right

(X-Men Unlimited I#43/2) - Lockheed sensed how Martina and Regina's usual state of joy evaporated around Thorne, whom Lockheed felt seemed to be stern, serious and unpleasant, although there was something oddly familiar about her, invisible to the eye and which he could not determine.

(X-Men Unlimited I#43/2 - BTS) - Martina meant to break Thorne's hold over her and her sister, and Lockheed was happy to help them.

(X-Men Unlimited I#43/2 - BTS) - The twins had framed Andrew Frazer for stealing an apple, which escalated when he accused them and then the girls turned multiple applies into rats.

(X-Men Unlimited I#43/2) - Thorne caused the rats to coalesce into a giant rat, which then transformed into Thorne, who told the "little girls" to go home now.

    Regina convinced Martina that if they made Thorne think that they had created the dragon, she would lose confidence when she was unable to control it.

    When Regina issued a challenge to Thorne, she amusingly suggested that they were feeling their oats today, and she agreed, noting that she wanted to get it over with as she had a history paper to write, and she promised them that she wouldn't hurt them much.

    Placing flowers into her backpack, Martina seemingly conjured a dragon from the flowers as she pulled Lockheed out. Thorne credited the originality, but she swiftly attempted to undo the spell and turn him back into flowers, which failed.

    After Lockheed projected a fiery burst at her feet, Thorne sensed that he didn't really want to hurt her, and she asked him to confirm this as well as his name. As the angry Wolcroft girls demanded their dragon burn Thorne or they would punish him, Lockheed grew confused. Thorne then sensed and spoke Lockheed's name and that he had lost someone, and Lockheed appreciated a "Kitty Pryde-ness" in her empathy and touch.

    When Martina and Regina continued to insist he attack Thorne and one of them threw and hit him with a rock, Lockheed appreciated that they were the bad ones, and he projected a fiery blast that singed them both for their betrayal.

    Thorne then healed Lockheed's wing, and while she sensed that Lockheed wished to stay with her and she considered him an adorable rascal, she told Lockheed that his friend was alive and also believed him to be dead. She told Lockheed to look for her friend in Chicago, Illinois, and that she would be ever so happy to see him. As she watched Lockheed fly away, she called him friend and told him to go and be happy.

    There wasn't much detail provided in the story...we don't know why there were three young witch girls in this town (or what town it was), what was the name of their school, how old they were, etc.
    I would guess them to be 10-12 years old.

    I couldn't recall the situation in which Lockheed's wing was damaged and he believed Kitty to be dead.

I think it has to be an unseen story, as it appears his last appearance prior to this was in Excalibur I#125, when he and Kitty were both together, she wasn't believed dead, and his wing was intact.
<And, in response to my notation of appearances published between those two issues> I saw that, but also noticed that Marvel Chronology Project has no issues between. And fwiw, uncannyxmen.net's history of Lockheed also just handwaves it as "somehow they got separated" or words to that effect.

    Additionally, Mike O'Sullivan, my successor as the head writer of the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, confirmed:

    I’m possibly the biggest Lockheed fan on the planet. Can confirm that there’s been no full reason given for what happened after Excalibur #125 and when Kitty was seen on the cruise without him in Uncanny X-Men #360. It was “their first days away from the recently-disbanded Excalibur.” Kitty was fine, Lockheed gone. 

    His appearance in X-Treme X-Men Annual #1 was his first since Excalibur #125 and came out of nowhere. Same as X-Men Unlimited #38. He was in Chicago with Kitty, without explanation.

    X-Men Unlimited #43 was his next appearance, apparently set between Excalibur #125 and X-Treme X-Men Annual #1. He thought Kitty was dead, but was on his way to the U.S. to find her by the end. 

    That’s all that’s ever been said about it.
