History:

(Rom#7 (fb) - BTS) - Thornoids developed a fierce reputation amongst the Dire Wraith, often finding their way after a Dire Wraith attack to feed off the carrion left behind.

(Rom#7) - In his efforts to eliminate Rom and wreak carnage on Earth, the Dire Wraith commander summoned Thornoids remotely. The skies darkened outside the lab where Rom was being revived with the aid of Brandy Clark, Steve Jackson and Artie Packer, and Thornoid white seeds fell to the ground, very quickly sprouting to full size. Numbering at least four, the mobile plants smashed their way through the window into the lab. They attacked the humans with their thorned tendrils and Packer quickly fell to their flailing attacks. Clark threw sulphuric acid at one and this stopped its assault, but Jackson and Clark were trapped and just about to be ripped apart when the newly revived Rom arrived. The Spaceknight ripped apart many of the plants while Jackson and Clark quickly grabbed fire extinguishers, using the carbon dioxide foam to help kill the carnivorous plants by lowering their temperature. Rom and the humans then stood amidst the destroyed aliens.

(Rom#8) - The ripped remains of the Thornoids lay scattered about the lab. The lab's owner, Dr. Johnson, finally forced his way into his lab, surprised at the mess and the strange plants.

(Rom#53) - Dire Wraith witches summoned Thornoids as part of their worldwide war against the people of Earth.

There are more dramatic pics in the story, but the main image provides the best clear full body shot.

The pink foliage of the Thornoids reminds me of the pink vegetation of Bug's homeworld of Kaliklak in the Microverse.

They could all be from the same alien world.
