thor-15513-dazzler-af7-glowPowers/Abilities: Empowered by her hammer, Light Bringer, Alison Blaire possesses the power of a Thor, notably including superhuman strength (perhaps lifting 50-100 tons) and durability, the ability to fly (via throwing her hammer and holding onto it) and control the weather to some degree, notably generating storms and lightning.

    Light Bringer is virtually indestructible and grants vast power to its wielder, who must be worthy in order to wield it.

    Alison Blaire's mutant powers enables her to convert sound into light, which she can project as flashes of blinding light and presumably lasers, etc.

     However, the M-Pox (Terrigen-induced disease occurring in mutants) made her control over her mutant powers very limited, and it eventually weakened her to the point of apparent death.

    She is a valiant warrior, more than willing to sacrifice her life to vanquish an evil foe and/or to protect her allies.

History:

(A-Force II#5 (fb) - BTS) - Alison Blaire was one of many Thors serving Lord Emperor Doom on Battleworld, with Doom having converted stars into their hammers; Alison was told that Doom had plucked the star that became her Mjolnir out of the sky just for her. (A-Force II#5 (fb) - BTS) - Battling the Countess from Battleworld's Killville domain, Thor was caught up in her reality-bending wake as they fought, falling through space, dimensions, etc.

(A-Force II#7 (fb) - BTS) - During the seeming eternity that they fell through various realms, they encountered Terrigen mist, and Thor developed an advanced case of M-Pox.

(Secret Wars III#9 - BTS) - Battleworld was destroyed, although remnants survived.

(A-Force II#5 (fb) - BTS) - Thor, alongside the Countess in her massive dragon form, arrived in Astoria, Oregon, USA, Earth-616, and they resumed their fight.

(A-Force II#5) - A-Force (Captain Marvel, Dazzler, Medusa, Nico Minoru, She-Hulk, Singularity) arrived to confront the dragon, and they appreciated a Thor-like being fighting it.


    After Thor-Alison was knocked away by the dragon and crashed at the heroes' feet, she advised them not to touch the dragon, as the Countess was hers alone to vanquish. She subsequently recognized She-Hulk from Battleworld's Arcadia domain (derived from Earth-16191), and while she did not know how She-Hulk came to be in this location, the last she had heard, Arcadia had turned traitor to Lord Doom, and so she declared She-Hulk to be under arrest by order of Lord Doom. She-Hulk defied her, but further discussion was delayed as they joined forces against the massive dragon, earning both womens' mutual respect.

    She-Hulk subsequently instructed Nico and Singularity to get the civilians out of harm's way while she, Thor, and the rest of her team engaged the dragon; and when the dragon breathed fire at them, Nico used a magic spell to turn the flames into flowers. After She-Hulk, Thor, Captain Marvel and Medusa flattened the dragon, it vanished.

    Thor then explained that the dragon was actually the Countess, and she postulated that she had merely regrouped or retreated to recover her strength and attack them when they least expected it. Medusa asked if the Countess was a shape-shifter, and Thor explained that she rather bent the very fabric of reality.

    Regardless, Thor reissued her intent to arrest them for the crimes against Lord Doom, but She-Hulk advised her that they were no longer in Thor's realm, and ultimately she agreed to get dinner while they discussed a plan to deal with the Countess; she was pleased to learn that they had ale in this village.

    After several ales, Thor and She-Hulk became comrades, but Thor eventually considered that she may no longer have a home.

    Sensing an awkwardness with Dazzler-616, Thor subsequently met with her, and they bonded over the name and origin of Light Bringer (and later over blueberry pie being their favorite).

     Dazzler-616 revealed that she was dying from Terrigen exposure, and Thor agreed to keep her secret but advised her to confide in her friends.

(A-Force II#5 - BTS) - Returning in her humanoid form, the Countess took mental control of Nico, who used a "Sleeping Beauty" spell to render Thor and the rest of A-Force unconscious.

(A-Force II#6 (fb) - BTS) - The Countess took mental control of many of the local townspeople. Another spell from Nico removed the other heroes' powers, and they were imprisoned in a local jail cell. Singularity was nowhere to be seen.

(A-Force II#6) - After Nico confronted the imprisoned heroes and revealed that she was under the Countess' control, Thor removed her handcuffs and summoned Light Bringer. However, Nico used an "Unworthy" spell that prevented Thor from wielding her hammer. Dazzler-616 subsequently discovered rashes on Thor that indicated she had M-Pox as well, but Thor urged her silence.

    After She-Hulk tried to push the Countess to overextend her powers, she had Nico use a "Hulk Smash" spell to send She-Hulk into a gamma rage, which the others manipulated to result in the shattering of their jail cell. Additionally, repeated uses of her magic (combined with Nico's limited ability to resist the Countess' influence) caused her older spells to break down, including the power-neutralizing and "Unworthy" spells.

     Thor subdued the attacking She-Hulk with Light Bringer, after which the Countess forced Nico to use a "Gangsters' Shoes" spell to pull Thor and the other heroes off a pier and to the bottom of the harbor.


thor-15513-dazzler-af7-dyingthor-15513-dazzler-af7-vanish(A-Force II#7 - BTS) - Nico marshaled her will to voice a "Breathe" spell to keep the heroes alive until the spell  holding them underwater wore off.

(A-Force II#7) - As She-Hulk was arranging teams to oppose the Countess, Thor revealed to her allies that she had M-Pox and that her mutant powers were unreliable, although she vowed to use her hammer until the end.

    Thor subsequently issued a challenge to the Countess, cursing her as a coward if she failed to confront her. The Countess then returned to her immense dragon form, and as Thor, She-Hulk and others fought her, Singularity and Medusa captured Nico and brought her out of the range of the Countess' influence.

    As the heroes subsequently confronted the Countess, she blasted back Thor, who was overcome by her M-Pox and unable to rise. Dazzler-616 then took up Light Bringer, gaining the power of Thor, and smashed the Countess to the ground. Nico then used a "Power of Love" spell to teach the Countess that there was more to life than hate, which was all she knew from her domain Killville. Nonetheless, the Countess teleported away rather the face justice.

    Dying, Thor told Dazzler-616 that she knew that she could wield Light Bringer and that she was glad to witness it before she died. Dazzler-616 tried to tell her that she was going to be OK, but Thor told her that lies did not become, and she made Dazzler-616 promise her that she would find her light again, after which Thor vanished in a flash of light and a thunderclap.

(A-Force II#7 - BTS) - Dazzler-616 subsequently revealed her own M-Pox to her teammates, after which Captain Marvel called Thor Odinson regarding Light Bringer, and Alison agreed that it was best to "King Arthur" the hammer.

    So, we know that Thor (Alison Blaire) was one of the Thors on Doom's Battleworld, but we don't know from what domain she originated, so we don't know her original Earth number...it may well be one of the known ones from Battleworld, or it could be a previously unseen/unidentified reality.

    Light Bringer should still exist. It would be a great story in the future to have Dazzler-616 recover Light Bringer for a heroic rescue. It could also have its own profile at some point.
    Presumably to "King Arthur" Light Bringer meant to put it somewhere where only the worthy could claim it...which was pretty much how the hammer worked anyway, as one had to be worthy (and/or Alison Blaire) to wield it.

   This profile was completed 01/20/2026, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25th anniversary 's celebratory event.
