History:
(Strange Tales I#130 (fb) - BTS) - When Sen-Yu was near death the Ancient One saved his life. Sen-Yu tried to become the Ancient One's disciple but lacked the necessary ability in magic. To aid the Ancient One in his own way, Sen-Yu took charge of the Ancient One's finances from his home in Hong Kong. Sen-Yu also became an ally to the Ancient One's disciple Dr. Strange.
(Strange Tales I#130/2) - When Baron Mordo and Dormammu joined forces in an assault on the Ancient One which put him into a coma, Doctor Strange went to Sen-Yu in Hong Kong for help. Sen-Yu happily welcomed Dr. Strange into his home and let him rest for the night. As Mordo and Dormammu's forces were pursuing Dr. Strange and he needed to maintain a low profile, Sen-Yu arranged for a passport, money and clothing for Dr. Strange to use. Sen-Yu watched as Dr. Strange concealed his Cloak of Levitation in the back of his new suit. Sen-Yu offered to let Strange remain in his home but Dr. Strange refused to place Sen-Yu in jeopardy. He told Sen-Yu to remain alert because he might have further need of him.
(Strange Tales I#131/2) - As Dr. Strange prepared to leave Hong Kong, Sen-Yu met him in the street and surreptitiously slipped him an airplane ticket so he could fly back to the United States.
(Dr. Strange and Dr. Doom: Triumph and Torment) - Sen-Yu was one of several other magic users who received a mystical summons to a contest of power sent by the Aged Genghis. Sen-Yu journeyed to the Temple of the Three in Java to participate in the contest and met the other mystics who answered the Aged Genghis' call, including Sen-Yu's old friend Dr. Strange. As the Aged Genghis explained the contest would settle which of the mystics was the Sorcerer Supreme and would thereby gain themselves a boon from the Vishanti. For the trial, the Vishanti sealed the Aged Genghis within a mystical crystal and challenged the mystics to set him free. Sen-Yu joined the others in attempting to free the Aged Genghis but was unable to overcome the significant mystical traps placed within the crystal and became entranced, forced to fight Dr. Strange and Dr. Doom. Strange and Doom defeated Sen-Yu and the other entranced mystics then Dr. Strange freed the Aged Gengthis. The assembled mystics could not agree as to whether the contest had been over in a few moments or whether it had lasted for days. The Aged Genghis called the contest complete and as he departed the Temple of the Three fell apart, forcing the mystics to beat a hasty exit.
