Powers/Abilities: Being bonded to an alien Klyntar symbiote, Scream possessed abilities similar to other humans who have been bonded to symbiotes, including superhuman strength and the ability to extend razor-sharp symbiotic tendrils from her body.
Patricia Robertson had extensive US Army training and occasionally used military-style firearms in battle. As a communications specialist, Patricia was skilled in the use of military communication devices and she carried a walkie-talkie as part of her gear while stationed in the Arctic. During her time in the Arctic, she also cared for a pack of dogs that she used to move her dog sled through the ice and snow. She was also extremely talented in the customization of military-style gear and weapons, having at least customized a gun to fire sonic rounds capable of harming symbiotes.
For a time, Patricia was implanted with a cybernetic collar connected directly to her brain stem that allowed her to retain full control while bonded with alien symbiotes. It is unclear if this collar had any additional abilities shared from its time connected to the clone Vic, such as manipulation of pheromones to attract alien symbiotes.
During her time bonded to a clone
of the Venom symbiote, Patricia had superhuman strength sufficient to
crush metallic devices in her bare hands and she could project
symbiotic webbing, adhere to solid surfaces, shapeshift to the degree
that she could assume the identical form of other beings (even of the
opposite gender), extend symbiotic tendrils and alter her size to
assume giant forms.

I#3 (fb) - BTS) - All her life, Patricia Robertson suffered from
nightmares of things shambling out of the darkness trying to capture
her. Eventually, she was taken to see a psychiatrist by her parents and
the doctor deemed Patricia's nightmares to be a symptom of her
insecurities that would go away as she got older. As she grew, she
tried to train herself to deal with the dark creatures of her
nightmares.

rigorously trained and prepped so that she would always be prepared for
the day she would have to conquer the reality of her nightmares.

high school, "Trish" Robertson dated a boy named Jack Mitchell.

herself. Once assigned there, she came to realize that she would need
to prove herself to the other soldiers there first.
(Venom I#3 (fb) - BTS) - The twenty-four-year-old Patricia still suffered from the same nightmares about things coming out of the darkness to get her that she had always suffered from.
(Venom I#1 (fb) - BTS) - During one of her days on
duty, Patricia was sent to the Ararat Corporation complex twenty miles
south to return some movies borrowed from the complex.
(Venom I#1/Venom I#13 (fb)) - Patricia rode her
dog sled over to the
Ararat Corporation complex to return the videos. Upon arrival, Patricia
asked to be buzzed inside but received no response. Noticing a storm
approaching, Patricia asked to be buzzed inside a second time as the
temperature dropped and one of her dogs, Ivan, became anxious. Assuring
Ivan that the Corporation workers were likely stalling just to see if
she had brought booze with her, Patricia was soon met by a response via
the communication box that was begging for help.
(Venom I#1) - Patricia immediately reported back to her base on the apparent situation, only to be met with a staticy response asking Patricia to get some movies featuring Jennifer Lopez. Rolling her eyes at the response and considering it typical of her fellow soldiers, Patricia tossed her walkie-talkie in the snow and returned to her dog sled to retrieve a weapon. She then ventured inside the Ararat Corporation complex to investigate the situation, assuring her dogs that everything would be fine as she entered the building. Moments after entering, Ivan barked outside, surprising the already nervous Patricia, who soon found some black goo near the door. Venturing further inside, Patricia stumbled upon a corpse and immediately backed out of the door, only to find another corpse frozen in the ground behind her. She then heard someone whispering "Save me..." and ultimately decided to go back inside the complex to rescue this person whose whispers she heard. Following the voice further inside, Patricia announced herself as US Army and asked the voice to come to her but when she received no response, she continued further into the complex, where she discovered a room littered with corpses. The shock caused Patricia to vomit but she quickly regained her composure and soon noticed movement in a nearby storage closet. Opening the door to find one of the research scientists, Perry, asking if "it" was gone, Patricia questioned what "it" was before getting the man safely back to her dog sled outside. When she ordered the dogs to mush, Ivan stalled and began barking at something but, thinking Ivan was spooked at nothing in particular, Patricia eventually got the dogs to move, leaving the Ararat Corporation complex without noticing someone in the distance.
Returning to "Christmastown," Patricia noticed that Ivan still appeared restless but quickly entered the radar station to report what she had seen at the Ararat complex, only to be met by Col. Michael Malone, who asked where the new movies were. Malone then had soldiers Jerome Delacroix and Daniel Jackson take care of the civilian rescued by Patricia and gave Patricia some wine, asking her to relate what had happened. After hearing Patricia's story of the mangled Ararat personnel, Malone suggested the complex was attacked by a polar bear but questioned who Patricia was talking to on the complex's communications box if the civilian she found had barricaded himself in the kitchen. Beginning to think she had made a mistake rescuing Perry, Patricia and Malone were suddenly summoned to Perry, who seemed to be suffering from some sort of seizure.
(Venom I#2) - Patricia helped hold down the seizing
Perry as Patricia's dogs barked loudly. Eventually, Perry passed out
and when the dogs subsequently started growling, Col. Malone ordered
Patricia to check on the dogs. Venturing out into the cold alongside
fellow soldier Harold Saunders, Patricia found Ivan collapsed on the
ground with the other dogs backed into a corner away from Ivan.
Thinking Ivan hurt, Patricia rushed to Ivan's side and had Saunders
pick up Ivan to bring him inside. Along the way, Saunders grumbled
about Ivan dripping a black goo but when Patricia asked what Saunders
was grumbling about, Saunders dropped the subject. The two then got
Ivan inside and Patricia asked Jackson to care for Ivan, thinking he
could be sick since the other dogs were extremely spooked about
whatever was affecting Ivan. Tired of all of the recent commotion, Col.
Malone ordered everyone to bunk down for the night and before she left,
Patricia assured the nearly-catatonic Ivan that everything would be
okay.
The next day, Patricia got up to shower in the cold then ventured into the mess hall, where she greeted Jackson, who informed Patricia that Perry was up and hiding out under one of the tables. Informed that Perry had not said a word but had scared Jackson in the middle of the previous night, Patricia also learned that Malone had not yet been informed that Perry was up since Jackson had unable to find Col Malone. When Jackson further remarked that Patricia was the only other person he had seen all morning, other than Perry, Patricia briefly became suspicious until Malone appeared right behind her, causing Patricia to do a spit take with her coffee in surprise. After learning Perry was under the table, Col. Malone ordered Patricia and Jackson to leave the room and when Patricia questioned why, Malone grew angry and reminded them that he was their commanding officer. Jackson suggested they go check on Ivan and the two left the room with Patricia wondering what had put Col. Malone in such a bad mood. Venturing outside, Patricia learned from Jackson that Ivan had seemed to want to go outside that morning and Patricia admitted that she was also glad to be outside, as she had been getting a weird vibe all day. When they found Ivan, he was meandering around and whining and Patricia got up close to check on him, only to discover that Ivan had a bloody human finger in his mouth. Before Patricia and Jackson could investigate the finger, they both heard a scream from inside the Christmastown facility. Rushing back inside, Jackson collided with Perry and was knocked unconscious while Patricia began questioning Perry. Learning that Perry had been working on something at the Ararat complex that they had lost control of, Patricia soon Perry and herself confronted by what appeared to be the alien Venom symbiote.
(Venom I#3) - Staring at the symbiote in fear,
Patricia realized her lifetime of training against the creatures seen
in her nightmares had not actually prepared her to actually face such a
creature at all.
(Venom I#3/Absolute Carnage: Scream#1 (fb)) - Fearful of not living to see another day, Patricia was approached by the symbiote and it extended symbiote tendrils onto Patricia.
(Venom I#3) - The symbiote was repelled by
dark-suited man in sunglasses,
enigmatically known only as the Suit, who urged Patrica to run,
as the symbiote would recover in seconds.
Insisting that she could not leave Perry and Jackson to die, Patricia
was informed by the man that she could not do anything to help them and
the Suit commended her on her conviction as a quality that was rare
among her species. The man then blasted the symbiote a second time and
ordered Patricia to gather her comrades and evacuate the area, warning
that he had only had one more shot and if she stayed, she would die
alongside the symbiote. When the symbiote retreated to reveal Col.
Malone as its host, Patricia watched in surprise as the Suit
fired on the symbiote, only to be shot by a recovered Jackson. She then
watched as Jackson and the Suit had a standoff with each
demanding the other drop their weapons. When the Suit saw
Delacroix and assumed he was the symbiote using Delacroix's form,
Jackson shot the man in the head and Patricia immediately asked why
Jackson did so. Explaining that he had only done his duty to protect a
fellow soldier, Jackson suggested Perry might know more about the Suit,
at which point Patricia pointed out that Perry was fleeing
the scene. Jackson ordered Delacroix to go after Perry while he and
Patricia searched for Saunders. Patricia expressed concern that
splitting up was a bad idea and Jackson questioned whether Patricia had
a better idea. Agreeing to accompany Jackson, Patricia opted to
confiscate the Suit's weapon but the man, having survived
being shot in the head, awoke and informed Patrica that it was not a
weapon but rather, a conductor. He then unleashed a burst of electrical
energy that knocked both Jackson and Patricia unconscious before
locking the pair in a storage closet. Subsequently regaining
consciousness, Patricia at first panicked and try to get free, only to
find herself tied to Jackson. When Jackson suggested they were being
used as bait for the symbiote and questioned whether Patricia thought
the dark-suited man cared about them, Patricia replied in the
affirmative, noting that the Suit had already saved their lives
from the symbiote once. She then informed Jackson that the Suit seemed
to know more about the symbiote than anyone else and
commented that their only way of getting out of the situation alive was
the Suit.
(Venom I#4) - Patricia woke up still tied to Jackson and, at first worried that the silent Jackson had died, Patricia was relieved when Jackson spoke to her. When Patricia suggested Jackson help her loosen their bounds so they could regroup with the rest of their military squad, Jackson informed her that their allies were dead. A terrified Patricia asked how Jackson could know that, at which point Jackson revealed that he had bonded with the symbiote and admitted that he had killed their allies. Patricia asked what the symbiote was and after the symbiote revealed that it wasn't sure anymore, noting that it once knew but was now something else, Patricia asked if the symbiote planned to kill her. The symbiote informed her that it wasn't going to yet and commented that it would do her a favor of giving her a head start on running away because he liked her. The symbiote then freed Patricia of her bounds and told her to run but Patricia stumbled and fell when she tried to run away. Moments later, the symbiote announced its intent to come after but Patricia begged for her life. Before the symbiote could kill Patricia, however, the arriving Delacroix intervened but the symbiote quickly enveloped Delacroix, taunting Patricia that it would kill Delacroix before coming after her. Crawling away from the symbiote and Delacroix, Patricia eventually got to her feet and located a gun. She then decided to track down and go on the offensive against the symbiote. After some time searching the station for the symbiote, Patricia stepped in a puddle of symbiotic goo on the ground that had slithered from under a doorway. Talking herself into opening the door, Patricia found the corpses of Col. Malone, Jackson and Saunders, wrapped in symbiotic goo and hanging from the ceiling. Muttering that she was all alone, Patricia was confronted by the symbiote and she immediately fired into the symbiote with a grenade launcher, only to watch in horror as the grenade lodged into the symbiote's mercurial form. The symbiote then popped the grenade back out of its chest and Patricia ran as the symbiote detonated the grenade. Following the detonation, Patricia looked back to see Delacroix reaching for help, only to perish from his injuries, and she quickly hid herself in a storage closet. Perry then revealed himself to also be hiding within the same closet and when he remarked that their signal for help was being jammed, Patricia punched Perry and demanded he tell her everything he knew about the symbiote. The terrified Perry did as ordered and after hearing what the symbiote was and what its plans were, Patricia became both scared and angry, prompting her to point her gun at Perry's throat.
(Venom I#5) - Patricia demanded to know how to kill
the symbiote but a panicky Perry exclaimed that the symbiote had been
tested and survived all tests, noting that the closest he and the
Ararat Corporation had come to killing the symbiote was forcing it into
a dormant state. When Patricia asked how to accomplish that, Perry
explained that, without hosts to feed off of, the symbiote would enter
a dormant state to conserve energy. As Perry continued, explaining how
the Ararat Corporation had underestimated the symbiote, an angry
Patricia hit Perry over the head with the butt of her gun and when
Perry insisted he was only doing his job, Patricia hit him in the chin
with her knee, still angry over Perry's involvement in releasing the
symbiote in the first place. She then came up with a plan to escape the
radar station using one of the military trucks, trapping the symbiote
within the station without a host. When the still-terrified Perry
questioned if the symbiote might be outside waiting for them if they
left the closet, Patricia assured Perry the symbiote was definitely
waiting on them to leave but nonetheless refused to give Perry a gun
for his protection because he knew the danger the symbiote posed yet
chose to save only himself at the Ararat complex when she had found
him. She then announced her plans to make sure Perry would pay for his
cowardice if they escaped the station alive and warned Perry that she
would not be turning her back on him for a second. The station was then
rocked with explosions and when the smoke cleared, Patricia and Perry
ventured outside to find that the trucks they had planned to use to
escape had been blown up. Patricia then thought of a new escape plan
but before she could implement it, they were confronted by the Suit,
who admitted that he had blown up the trucks to keep the symbiote from
escaping the station. Revealing himself to be an extraterrestrial on
Earth to destroy the symbiote, the Suit warned that if he could not
destroy the symbiote, the entire human race would die, and when Perry
insisted the Suit was lying, the Suit warned Patricia against believing
anything Perry said. Patricia questioned why she should not believe
Perry and the Suit responded by exposing Perry as the then-current host
of the alien symbiote.
The terrified Patricia rushed behind the Suit and when the symbiote did not immediately attack, the Suit revealed that Perry had died and the symbiote had paused momentarily to expel Perry's carcass before it would attempt to jump into another host. Patricia quickly deduced that the Suit intended to kill her to prevent the symbiote from taking her as its new host and she briefly fought the Suit until the symbiote snatched up the Suit's weapon. The Suit then announced his plans to stall the symbiote and attempted to tell Patricia to kill something before the symbiote tore the Suit apart. Patricia then shot the symbiote and attempted to run but the symbiote gloated about its enjoyment of the game of its prey running only to realize it was right behind them. Patricia soon stumbled and fell and when she subsequently heard yelping, she realized the symbiote had went after her dogs. Rushing over to the dogs' pen, Patricia found it empty and the symbiote gone. A recovered Suit then appeared and blasted her into unconsciousness as the symbiote escaped in the body of one of the dogs.
(Venom I#6 (fb) - BTS) - The Suit picked up the
unconscious Patricia Robertson and began tracking the symbiote into the
Arctic wilderness.
(Venom I#6) - When the surprised Patricia awoke on
the Suit's back, she fell to the ground and asked where she was.
Suggesting she eat something, the Suit explained that they were now
seventy miles south-southeast of the Christmastown radar station and
how they had to intercept the symbiote before it reached civilization.
When the Suit handed her a can of tuna to eat, Patricia questioned why
the Suit brought her along after having shot her but the Suit responded
by suggesting they keep moving. Patricia remarked that she should
inform her superiors but the Suit opted against it, stating that no one
should know of his presence on Earth and that the situation should be
handled quickly and without interference. Annoyed, Patricia hurled the
tuna can into the snow and angrily reminded the Suit that the symbiote
had killed her friends, further claiming the military could do a better
job at destroying the symbiote than the Suit had done. The Suit
responded by again rendering Patricia unconscious, retrieving the tuna
can, and continuing on his trek towards the symbiote. Eventually
finding Patricia's dogs dead, the Suit laid Patricia on the ground to
investigate and found a brown tuft of hair amidst the dogs, deducing
the possibility that the symbiote had taken a bear as its new host.
After determining an approaching bear to not be a host for the symbiote
and hearing noise overhead, the Suit cloaked himself and the
still-unconscious Patricia as a large flying ship housing agents
Frankie and Vic approached. Realizing others were now also looking for
the symbiote, the Suit later de-cloaked himself and Patricia and
reported back to his superiors that others were now involved.
(Venom I#7) - Regaining consciousness next to a tree in Voici, Northwest Territories, Canada without the Suit, a confused Patricia witnessed the armed agent Frankie running towards her and grabbed a tree limb for a weapon before announcing herself as US Army and ordering Frankie to lie on the ground, Frankie responded by firing on Patricia, who used the tree as a shield then swung the tree limb, only to hit nothing and find Frankie's gun to her head. Frankie then recognized Patricia Robertson as someone she thought to be dead
(Venom I#8) - When Frankie became distracted by a blast sound in the distance, Patricia took advantage of the distraction to kick Frankie, knocking off her wig. Patricia then went to pick up Frankie's gun but found it empty, prompting her to run for it as the angry Frankie gave chase. Eventually, Frankie managed to capture Patricia and she was taken aboard Frankie's flying ship in hopes Frankie and her ally Vic could get information from her. Frankie and Vic then dropped a bomb on the town of Voici and during the explosions, Patricia managed to escape her bounds.
(Venom I#9) - As Frankie and Vic plotted to force the
symbiote to bond with one of them due to no living potential hosts
being left in Voici, they also discussed what to do about Patricia
Robertson, unaware she had actually freed herself and that she was
feigning still being tied up. When Frankie and Vic donned radiation
suits and departed into the nuked out ruins of Voici, Patricia prepared
to make a move with a wrench she had secretly acquired while Frankie
and Vic were distracted with their plans. When the Suit entered Frankie
and Vic's ship, Patricia hit him over the head with her wrench thinking
he was either Frankie or Vic but the Suit was unfazed and noted that
her survival of Voici's bombing might prove to be problematic. He then
asked Patricia to wait there while he ventured back outside. The
confused Patricia was subsequently surprised when the Suit returned
with Vic's cybernetic collar, which he then placed around Patricia's
neck in an effort to utilize Patricia as a trap for the symbiote,
causing Patricia to lose her hair. Horrified by what the Suit had done
to her, Patricia knocked the Suit into the wall, where he was impaled
by the claws of the symbiote-bonded mutant hero Wolverine, who had also
surviving the nuking of Voici. The symbiote-bonded Wolverine then
sliced the Suit in half and entered the ship, greeting Patricia and
asking how she liked its new look. Patricia attempted to avoid the
symbiote as it attacked her but they were soon distracted by fire from
an approaching ship piloting by a cloned Frankie and Vic.
(Venom I#10) - While the symbiote attacked the
Frankie and Vic clones, Patricia donned one of the radiation suits in
the ship she was on and when she used her wrench to access a
compartment of grenades, the recovering Suit informed her the grenades
would be ineffective and instead suggested she take his reconstructed
weapon. Explaining that the reconstructed weapon was connected to his
strategically-planted older weapon, the Suit revealed that the
reconstructed version acted as a detonator and instructed Patricia on
how to activate it. He then suggested she run as the symbiote (still
bonded to Wolverine) re-entered the ship. The symbiote quickly attacked
her and Patricia stumbled on some wiring and fell, prompting the Suit
to guide her on how to further use his weapon. Despite the symbiote's
attempts to stop her, Patricia successfully activated the detonator and
the old weapon it was connected to, having been strategically placed on
Wolverine's chest, detonated, blowing the symbiote off of Wolverine.
Patricia then fell to the ground and the Suit congratulated her,
remarking that the situation was over. Patricia then carried the
still-regenerating Suit out of the ship and the Suit acknowledged the
traumatic events Patricia had been forced to endure and how grafting
the cybernetic collar to her was the only way to prevent the symbiote
from bonding with her. When the Suit promised to remove the cybernetic
collar once he fully regenerated, Patricia crushed the Suit's weapon
and revealed that the symbiote had bonded with her, commenting that the
cybernetic collar was the only thing keeping her in control. She then
webbed up the Suit and walked off, remarking that the collar was the
only way she could stop the symbiote.
Eighteen days later, Patricia
exited a bus in Buffalo, New York and proceed to a pay phone, from
which she phoned Jack Mitchell, a guy she had dated in high school.
After Jack's initial at hearing from Patricia after many years,
Patricia asked him to visit her mother and inform her that Patricia had
to do something very important but that she was okay. Jack mentioned
that some strange government types had showed up at his house asking
about Patricia and Patricia told Jack to be honest with the agents
before hanging up the phone. Newly cloned Frankie and Vics soon tracked
Patricia by tracing the phone call and the duo learned of Patricia's
message that she was taking care of something important.
(Venom I#15 (fb) - BTS) - Patricia decided that, to
destroy the symbiote with which she was currently bonded, she would
need to kill its genetic progenitor, the symbiote bonded to Eddie
Brock.
(Venom I#16 (fb) - BTS) - The Suit informed Patricia
that she could find Eddie Brock in New York and how to get to him.
(Venom I#14) - Sensing she was being tracked through
Manhattan, Patricia, now dubbed Venom, climbed up the side of building
and met with the Suit, who assured her he had not come to stop her
plans to destroy the symbiote once and for all. The Suit then announced
a change of plans, prompting Venom to sarcastically asked if there had
even been a true plan to begin with, unaware that they were both being
watched from a nearby rooftop by Frankie and Vic clones, who reported
their findings to Ararat Corporation's head, Bob. She later visited the
Kharupt Pub disguised as a scantily-clad bar patron, where she seduced
S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Whitaker and later killed him to assume his identity
within S.H.I.E.L.D.
The next morning, "Agent Whitaker"
was awakened by fellow agents who announced they had gotten the call
for a mission. Leaving the true Agent Whitaker's corpse webbed up in
his room, Patricia accompanied the agents to their briefing and when
one referred to the woman Whitaker had met in the bar the previous
night as a "pure-breed American skank," Patricia/Whitaker remarked on
how rude the comment was. As Agent Whitaker, she then accompanied the
S.H.I.E.L.D. Beta Team to backup the Alpha Team during their mission to
capture Venom (Eddie Brock) and shortly after S.H.I.E.L.D. captured
Brock, Patricia revealed her ruse and used a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicopter to
fire on the S.H.I.E.L.D. teams, who suspected the Venom they captured
was a fake.
(Venom I#14/Absolute Carnage: Scream#1 (fb)) -
Spider-Man came to the S.H.I.E.L.D. teams' rescue and when
he pulled the helicopter into a building to down it then investigated
the rubble to confront Venom, Patricia tried to explain that she was
not Eddie Brock.
(Venom I#14) - Spider-Man was skeptical at Patricia's
claims until
the freed Eddie Brock confronted him from behind.
(Venom I#15) - As Patricia swarmed her symbiote over
Spider-Man to incapacitate him, Eddie Brock suggested Spider-Man
depart. Patricia agreed, commenting that the last thing she needed was
a kid in his underwear interfering with her plans before tossing
Spider-Man across town.
(Venom I#15/Absolute Carnage: Scream#1 (fb)) - With
Spider-Man out of the picture, Eddie Brock
tackled Patricia and the two began fighting.
(Venom I#15) - During the fight,
Patricia's cybernetic collar was remotely deactivated by the Ararat
Corporation but she nonetheless retained enough control of her symbiote
to hold her own against Brock. S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Nick Fury soon intervened
by fire-bombing the area and while Brock was distracted with Fury,
Patricia fled and attempted to stay in control of her symbiote.
Spider-Man soon returned and when he attempted to stop Patricia, she
begged him to leave her alone, revealing her true face as proof she was
not Brock as she continued losing control of her symbiote. Spider-Man
then calmly asked Patricia's name but she only admitted her plans to
kill Brock while she still had the strength to do so. Refusing to allow
her to murder Brock, Spider-Man announced that she would have to go
through him to do so but Patricia remarked that she actually did not as
Brock appeared behind Spider-Man and knocked him aside. The two Venoms
then resumed their battle, which eventually erupted in the New York
sewers, where Brock attempted to forcibly merge their two symbiotes
together. During the fight, Patricia lost her hold on the Suit's
cellphone-like weapon and it detonated underwater, separating the two
combatants. Patricia then emerged from the water to see the Suit, who
commented that he had gotten delayed.
(Venom I#16) - Patricia asked the Suit what was
happening to her and the Suit explained how her cybernetic collar had
been remotely deactivated, forcing her to keep her symbiote in check
via willpower alone. Crying, Patricia asked if the Suit could fix her
collar but the Suit replied in the negative, noting that the collar
itself was not defective, only cut off from the signal that powered it.
When he commented that Patricia should have never come to the heavily
populated New York City, Patricia angrily reminded the Suit that he had
led her there. The Suit then revealed his origins to Patricia as one of
many tiny extraterrestrials that had originally come to Earth to
destroy humanity, only to learn they had been manipulated and depart
Earth in a mass exodus. He then led Patricia through the sewers, away
from any other potential symbiote hosts, and continued discussing his
origins as she fought to remain in control of herself. When the Suit
revealed that he was working to stop a mutated one of his own race
called Bob that sought to destroy all life to repopulate it and how
Patricia's symbiote was cloned from Brock's, Patricia asked why Bob
created such a destructive clone if he sought to repopulate the Earth,
at which point a surviving Frankie clone appeared. She pointed a gun at
Patricia and announced that the clone was not created to be part of a
new world but rather, to end the old one.
(Venom I#17) - Admitting that she had been
eavesdropping on Patricia and the Suit's conversation as they walked
through the sewers, Frankie expressed a desire to make a deal with the
two of them but Patricia prepared to attack Frankie due to Frankie's
earlier attempt to kill her. Frankie then revealed that she had saved
the algorithm that controlled Patricia's cybernetic collar and when she
claimed she wanted the same thing the Suit did, the Suit agreed to
Frankie's deal as Patricia began to completely lose control of her
symbiote. Using Frankie's data, the Suit quickly repaired Patricia's
cybernetic collar but the sudden shock knocked her unconscious. Noting
that Patricia would remain unconscious for several hours due to the
exhaustion of having to hold the symbiote at bay, the Suit refused to
assist Frankie further without more information on her past association
with Bob. The Suit revealed what he knew of Bob as a mutated one of his
own ancient race while Frankie revealed how Bob had cloned and numerous
other Frankies and Vics to serve him and, upon hearing Frankie's story,
the Suit asked why Frankie sought to kill Bob rather than Patricia.
When Frankie replied that Bob would simply create another symbiote
clone, the Suit agreed and explained how Patricia's cloned symbiote was
designed to produce reproductive hormones that could be disastrous when
combined with those of Eddie Brock's original symbiote. As they
continued to share information on their goals, the Suit picked up the
still-unconscious Patricia and walked with Frankie, discussing how they
would take Bob down.
(Venom I#18 (fb) - BTS) - The Suit brought Patricia
to the Fantastic Four and they devised a trap for Eddie Brock.
(Venom I#17) - A confused Patricia later woke up in
the Baxter Building during a state-wide blackout within a protective
bubble and Mister Fantastic asked her to stay calm, assuring her that
everything would be okay. He then sent a video to news outlets
proclaiming the blackout was caused by a battle between the Fantastic
Four and Venom and how the FF had Venom in their custody.
(Venom I#18 (fb) - BTS) - Mr. Fantastic then arranged
for Patricia Robertson to be sent to Fantastic Four Storage Facility 12
in Midtown and the Suit was placed within a holding cell in the Baxter
Building.
(Venom I#17) - Overhearing the news reports over the
radio, Eddie Brock fought his way into the Baxter Building just as
Spider-Man arrived to warn the FF about Brock, unaware of the Fantastic
Four's true plan.
(Venom I#18) - The Fantastic Four trapped Eddie Brock within the Baxter Building and escaped the building as Brock searched for Patricia. Bob subsequently captured the escaping Mr. Fantastic and Human Torch then posed as the Suit to confront Patricia in Fantastic Four Storage Facility 12. Revealing the restoration of her cybernetic collar, Bob (still posing as the Suit) claimed that he would no longer be able to assist Patricia and goaded her into using the regained control over her cloned symbiote to finish the mission she had come to New York accomplish. Still a bit confused, Patricia nonetheless stole one of the Fantastic Four's vehicles and flew off towards the Baxter Building, completely unaware that Bob planned to have Frankie and Vic clones track her to Brock and deactivate her control collar so the two Venom symbiotes could bond. Patricia returned to the Baxter Building in time to witness Brock being saved from an exploding Suit via the Invisible Woman's force-field. Announcing it was time to finish her mission, Patricia attacked Brock but the Frankie and Vic clones deactivated Patricia's control collar as planned and Patricia's cloned symbiote pulled itself towards Brock's symbiote, the two symbiotes merging together into a single powerful symbiote. Retaining Eddie Brock as a host, the more powerful merged symbiote escaped into the night as Bob prepared to wait for his full plan to come to fruition.
(Absolute Carnage: Scream#1 (fb)) - After being separated
from the
cloned Venom symbiote, Patricia found herself desperately missing being
bonded to the symbiote despite the frantic terror she felt during her
time as Venom.
(Mighty Avengers I#8 (fb) - BTS) - Information on Patricia Robertson
related to her status as a known symbiote host was gathered alongside
data on all other known (at the time) alien symbiote hosts into
S.H.I.E.L.D. File#353-35325.
(Mighty Avengers I#8 - BTS) - When a biological attack occurred in
New York City that transformed all residents into symbiote-like beings,
Iron Man used his status as then-S.H.I.E.L.D. director to access the
S.H.I.E.L.D. files on known symbiotes and their hosts, one of which was
a file on Patricia Robertson. Patricia was last symbiote host listed
before Iron Man stopped the file from continue to name off known
symbiote hosts.
(King in Black Handbook - Scream entry - BTS) - While bonded with
the Venom symbiote, "Flash" Thompson sought to protect student Andi
Benton by sharing with her a portion of the Venom symbiote, unaware
that the symbiote secretly expelled the cloned Venom symbiote that had
once been bonded to Patricia Robertson.
(Venom III#150 - BTS) - While suffering from a nightmare about his own past, Eddie Brock dreamed of the various other symbiote hosts that had appeared after him, including Patricia Robertson as Venom.
(Absolute Carnage: Scream#1 (fb) - BTS) - When the symbiote-bonded
serial killer Carnage returned to New York, Patricia Robertson, who had
been lying low for quite some time, began researching the symbiotes and
learned of Andi Benton, who had become the host for the portion of the
Venom symbiote that included Patricia's cloned symbiote. Despite the
turmoil she had experienced while bonded to the cloned Venom symbiote,
Patricia secretly still missed her symbiote and became jealous of
Benton's hosting of her former symbiote. Patricia eventually developed
a hatred of Benton and when she later sensed the call of the symbiote
god Knull due to her time bonded to a symbiote, Patricia took to the
streets with a large gun full of sonic rounds, prepared to take down
any symbiotes she encountered.
(Absolute Carnage: Scream#1) - Thinking back on her time as Venom as
she walked through the quiet, rainy city, Patricia was soon disturbed
out of her thoughts by a nearby scream.
(Absolute Carnage: Scream#1/Absolute Carnage I#2) - Running
into the
nearby alleyway where the scream had emanated, Patricia witnessed the
Scream symbiote and several symbiote Cult of Knull members killing a
woman.
(Absolute Carnage: Scream#1) - Feeling as she was fed up
with
dealing with the lifelong nightmares she suffered from and that she was
done training and prepping to take down these nightmares in reality,
Patricia opened fire on the Cult of Knull, drawing their attention to
her. Continuing to fire, Patricia was hit in the shoulder by a
razor-sharp symbiotic tendril projected by the Scream symbiote but
quickly retaliated by hitting the Scream symbiote with a blast of sonic
ammunition from her customized gun. After blowing a hole in the Scream
symbiote, Patricia noticed a spiral design on the symbiote's forehead
and that it appeared to be bonded to a human corpse. When she got
closer to investigate, the Scream symbiote projected itself on Patricia
and bonded with her despite Patricia's objections. At first feeling the
familiar surge of power of being bonded to a symbiote, Patricia, now
active as the new Scream, soon found herself hearing the voices of not
only the Scream symbiote itself but also its former host Donna Diego
and the symbiote god Knull. Knull's voice spoke louder than the others
and Patricia physically lashed out in an attempt to silence Knull's
influence but ultimately fell under Knull's sway. Ordered to hunt down
Andi Benton by Knull, Scream joined the Cult of Knull in locating
Benton.
(Absolute Carnage: Scream#2) - Ready to kill Benton on
Knull's
orders, Scream received slightly conflicting orders from the Cult of
Knull leader Carnage, who instead ordered Scream to bring both Benton
and herself to him as an offering. Conflicted between Carnage's orders
and Patricia's hidden desire to kill Benton for both revenge and Knull,
Scream ultimately followed Carnage's orders but Benton used her
Hell-Mark powers to hold Scream at bay with hellfire. Carnage ordered
Scream to proceed despite the burning pain but Benton attempted to
reach Patricia's mind by revealing that Carnage only sought the remove
the symbiote codex from Benton, commenting that Carnage would do the
same to Scream once he had finished with Benton. Addled from the voices
of the Scream symbiote, Donna Diego, Knull and Carnage all inside her
head, Patricia first spoke in Donna Diego's voice before briefly
assuming control of the Scream symbiote herself and tearing the spiral
of Knull out of her symbiote. Regaining a semblance of control over her
own actions, the horrified Patricia Robertson looked upon what she had
been transformed into and exclaimed that she did not want it. The
Scream symbiote then spoke through Patricia, revealing that it did want
Patricia as a host, prompting Benton to ask if Scream still wished to
kill her. Thinking back on the secret hatred she had for Benton despite
having not previously even met her, Patricia ultimately replied in the
negative and admitted that she was not in control of herself,
explaining that the spiral of Knull's influence had forced her to
attack Benton.
Benton then burned the portion of the
Scream
symbiote with the spiral of Knull on it and Scream expressed concern
that the spiral might return, prompting Benton to suggest Scream either
fight it off when and if it returned or she could burn Scream where she
stood. Scream then asked what was happening, both to her and the city
of New York, and Benton explained how Carnage saw himself as a prophet
of Knull and how he had been attacking anyone who had ever bonded to a
symbiote to harvest the leftover alien DNA in their cells. Unsure of
what to do next, Scream picked up Benton and swung over to a nearby
rooftop to figure things out. Opting not to turn Benton over to
Carnage, Scream ultimately decided to help defend the city's human
population from Carnage's Cult of Knull by battling the Cult in the
streets. While subsequently rescuing a small group of people, Scream
attempted to get the Cult of Knull members to fight Carnage's influence
but they refused, attacking her. Realizing that the Cult of Knull
members were complicit to Carnage's orders, Scream fought back against
and she was soon joined by Andi Benton despite Scream's orders for her
to stay put due to the risk of her being captured by the Cult of Knull.
Benton reminded Scream that if they had went into hiding, the civilians
they had just rescued would be dead. As Benton tried to reassure the
civilians they were not monsters like the Cult of Knull, Scream began
experiencing pain in her forehead and when Benton checked on her,
Scream manifested the spiral of Knull once more and ordered Benton to
run. Benton attempted to get Scream to fight the Cult's influence but
Scream exclaimed that Carnage's influence was much stronger than
before, suggesting he must be close. As if on cue, Carnage appeared
before them and asked if he was interrupting their gossip. Fighting
against Carnage's Cult of Knull orders, Scream thought on how she must
ensure Andi Benton survived.
(Absolute Carnage: Scream#3) - Benton look towards Scream,
who fell
under Carnage's sway once more. Benton tried to run but Carnage sent
Scream after Benton with orders to capture and bring her back to
Carnage. Scream chased Benton to an old meat packing plant, where
Patricia attempted to reason with the Scream symbiote to regain control
of her body. The symbiote also attempted to fight off Carnage's
influence and Scream doubled over on the ground in agony over the
mental conflict between the various voices in her head. Hearing
Scream's screams from inside the plant, Benton frantically searched for
an exit from the plant, only to run right into Carnage's clutches.
Regaining control of her body once more, Scream attacked Carnage to
rescue Benton, announcing that Benton must live. Benton attempted to
join in the fight as well but Carnage snatched Benton's arm with a
symbiotic tendril, prompting Scream to order Carnage to release Benton.
Carnage responded by hanging Benton on a meat hook and Scream lashed
out, vengefully exclaiming that she would kill Carnage. Gloating that
better people had tried, Carnage generated a large symbiotic blade and
impaled Scream with it, projecting several smaller bladed tendrils
outward from Scream's body and mortally wounding Patricia Robertson. As
she died, Scream attempted to take Carnage with her but Carnage slashed
his way free of her hair-like tendrils. Patricia moments later bled out
and the dying Scream symbiote creeped onto Andi Benton, healing her
wounds and transforming her into the new Scream. Also fighting
Carnage's influence, Benton attacked Carnage despite knowing she could
not beat him. Looking down at the deceased Patricia Robertson, Benton
realized that the Scream symbiote didn't save her life and Patricia had
not sacrificed her life just for Benton to die against Carnage.
Slamming Carnage into a meat freezer, Scream escaped into the night and
when Carnage emerged seconds later, he announced that, while his fight
with Benton wasn't over, he now had a new symbiote codex to harvest
from the dead Patricia Robertson.
(Scream: Curse of Carnage#1 - BTS) - As Andi Benton walked
through
the streets of New York City, she thought back on how the Scream
symbiote had sacrificed its host Patricia Robertson to save her from
Carnage, ultimately bonding with Benton following Patricia's death.

In Venom I#1, it is shown that the
Ararat Corporation complex was thirty miles north of the Arctic Circle
and the Christmastown radar station was fifty miles north of the Arctic
Circle, meaning that the two complexes were twenty miles from one
another. However, in the recap page of Venom I#2, it's stated that the
Christmastown radar station is thirty miles north of the Arctic Circle,
suggesting that the two complexes were much closer to one another. I'm
leaning more towards the info in the recap page of Venom I#2 as being
erroneous and the two complexes are indeed twenty miles from one
another per the story in Venom I#1.
In Venom I#1, Patricia's eye and hair color appeared to be brown but in #2, her eye color appears to be blue and in #3, her hair color appears to be more blonde than brown. Blue eyes and blonde hair appears to be the case in all of Patricia's other appearances. The brown color in Venom I#1 could be chalked up to the coloring used to display the harsh cold of the Arctic in that issue.
Ya know, for being such a highly-trained military soldier and all, Patricia sure stumbled and fell a lot during her appearances in the 2003 Venom series...she also seemed to get scared a lot but I suppose that was meant to be part of her character since they established she had spent her lifetime plagued with nightmares and that her constant fear was part of what attracted the cloned Venom symbiote to her. Those nightmares would leave anyone an easy victim for being spooked and I suppose her fear is what ended up causing her to stumble on things too...
While we did see Patricia bond
with a clone of the alien Venom symbiote in Venom I#10, she was not
referred to under the codename of Venom until Venom I#14 and even then,
only in the issue's recap page. By the final story arc of the 2003
Venom series, however, she was being referred to as Venom by others,
especially S.H.I.E.L.D. and Spider-Man, though they were thinking at
the time that she was Eddie Brock.
In Venom I#14, Eddie Brock calls Spider-Man "Parker" right in front of Patricia Robertson. While that may or may not have been enough information for Patricia to deduce who Spider-Man was, she was likely mystically forced to forget that information during the events of the "One More Day" storyline.
Despite the context and Patricia's
subsequent statements, the flashback to the cloned Venom symbiote
enveloping Patricia seen in Absolute Carnage: Scream#1 must be
referencing events seen at the beginning of Venom I#3, where the cloned
symbiote extended symbiotic tendrils onto Patricia before being stopped
by the Suit. The context and Patricia's subsequent statements in
Absolute Carnage: Scream#1 seem to suggest the flashback is referencing
her time as Venom while bonded to the cloned symbiote but the flashback
shows Patricia in her Arctic military gear and with a full head of
blonde hair. At the time she actually bonded to the cloned Venom
symbiote and was active as Venom, however, her head had been shaved
bald and she had a cybernetic collar implanted in the back of her head.
Given this information, the flashback must be referencing the Venom
symbiote's first attempt to bond with Patricia in Venom I#3, as she was
wearing her Arctic military gear and still had all of her hair in that
issue.
