(Joker Comics I#1/8 (fb) - BTS) - The director of a Manhattan museum, Mr. Saxton stole from museum funds, after which he hired Joe and another man to kidnap him so that he could use the ransom to cover his theft.

(Joker Comics I#1/8) - Joe and another goon carried a wrapped-up Saxton out of the museum in view of street cleaner Alec, who assumed they were moving a statue until someone raced out of the museum and announced that Saxton had been kidnapped. Having adopted the costumed identity of Alec the Great, Alec followed the kidnappers to their waterfront hideout.

With Saxton bound to a chair, the kidnappers told him that he could stay there until they had collected the $50,000 ransom. Using his shovel, Alec took on the two gun-wielding men but was eventually subdued with a club to the back of the head.

(Joker Comics I#1/8 (fb) - BTS) - The kidnappers tied up Alec and left him on the floor, and they untied Saxton, who nonetheless remained in the other room.

(Joker Comics I#1/8 - BTS) - With Alec bound on the floor, the kidnappers sent a ransom note to Saxton's friend Colonel Wright, who paid them the money. Meanwhile, Alec rubbed his bonds against a brick fireplace, freeing himself as the second kidnapper returned with the money.

(Joker Comics I#1/8) - Alec dropped both men, but then Saxton held him at gunpoint and took him outside to the wharf along with his revived agents. After revealing how he had paid the men to kidnap him so that he could use the ransom money to cover his theft of museum funds, Saxton clubbed Alec over the head, knocking him out, after which he had his men throw Alec into the water.

(Joker Comics I#1/8 - BTS) - However, the cold water swiftly revived Alec, and after Saxton and his men left in their car, Alec climbed out and followed them back to the museum.

(Joker Comics I#1/8) - Having paid Joe and his partner $5000 a piece, upon being dropped off at the museum, Saxton bade them farewell, advising them to get out of town for awhile.

(Joker Comics I#1/8 - BTS) - Before the two men could drive away, however, Alec dragged them out of their car and knocked them out.

(Joker Comics I#1/8) - With both Colonel Wright and policeman present, Alec rushed into the museum and revealed Saxton's duplicity, pulling large amounts out of cash out of his pockets to support this.

saxton-atg-fullest-tiny    Saxton covered his face in shame as the police officer took him away, and Colonel Wright told him that he had not sympathy for him. Alec advised the police officer that he would find Saxton's pals outside, slightly indisposed.

    I don't know why Saxton didn't get a first name...it's annoyancing...

The museum having white pillars out front makes the Met a likely candidate to me, although it remains unconfirmed.

Saxton previously had a sub-profile under Archie the Gruesome, aka Alec the Great, originally published 07/29/2020.

This profile was completed 02/27/2026, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25th anniversary 's celebratory event.
