Powers/Abilities: One of the Muutar, Princess Die is grossly human but with a floppy vestigial fin on her head. She cut her fin so that it stood straight up on her head like a comb, and he top edge of the comb was serrated. After Sludge grabbed her fin, its tip was melted into a large, ugly ball that flipped the fin over to the side of her head.
She described that as the most pain she had ever felt.

Die has very long, silver-painted fingernails, from which she can discharge "slashes of fire," silver energies that can set others aflame; these energies could char and incapacitate Sludge.

Superhumanly strong, she can overpower a pair of Hessshite warriors attempting to restrain her, swinging her arms together and smashing them into each other.

She is a highly-skilled armed and unarmed combatant, swift and agile, and highly skilled in wielding swords, daggers, and whips.

She dressed entirely in black and silver: a short-sleeved scale mail (see comments) shirt that covered her shoulders and breasts but left her midriff bare. She wore a short, black leather skirt that hung akimbo on her hips along with black knee-high boots.

On her back she wore the sheath of a long, samurai-style curved sword. She wears the sheath of a knife strapped to one thigh. She also wielded an energy whip that could both physically restrain Sludge and could boil the slimy material covering his form.

She rode a motorcycle-like structure, powered by star foam (which was either under the seat, positioned like a gas tank; or placed where a headlight would be). It was the largest and meanest of the Muutar bikes is parked at its flap. Like the others, this bike is wooden, but there are metal studs on the wheels and the axles extend out into razor-sharp saw-like instruments.

While living with the Muutar, she was the only one with a tent, which was black, trimmed in silver, and her bike was parked at its flap.

History:

("Swamp of Souls" unpublished script) -

("Swamp of Souls" unpublished script) -

("Slave of Souls" unpublished script (fb) - BTS) - Generations ago, the Muutar Himsomel led his people to war against the Hessshites and lost. The Hessshites cut out his heart and kept it as a trophy, aware that the Muutar at least believed that Himsomel's spirit could not enter the land of the dead until his heart had been burned and its ashes scattered on the Swamp of Souls.

("Slave of Souls" unpublished script (fb) - BTS) - In recent years, under the direction of Himsomel's descendant Princess Die, Muutar looted Hessshite trading parties on their way through the mountains, making an effort to leave no survivors so their activities would not be discovered.

("Slave of Souls" unpublished script (fb) - BTS) - Both seeking vengeance on the human mutate Sludge for their murder of Veffir Voon Iyax and retribution for the Muutar attacks on their trading parties, Hessshites Veffir Voon Eeyax and Atuu Itme plotted to use Muutar Princess Die to accomplish the former while using her absence from her people to allow Hessshite warriors to accomplish the latter.

("Swamp of Souls" unpublished script) - Following a night of partying, Die slept in her tent until the approach of the Hessshites Veffir Voon Eeyax and Atuu Itme in their flying machine. One of the Muutar called out to her to announce the arrival of visitors from the lowland, and she exited her tent, commenting that she did not recall inviting any reptiles to breakfast, and she asked the Hessshites, "What dismal wind blows you into my morning?" As Die approached them, Eeyax replied that they had come to tender a proposition: A fee in exchange for what she did best. Die replied that he was not configured for what she did best but to make his offer anyway.

Itme then opened a chest, revealing that it held the heart of her ancestor Himsomel, who had been slain in battle with the Hessshites generations before and whose spirit could not rest until his heart had been burnt and spread over the Swamp of Souls. Die reached to claim it, but found it to be protected by a spell/charm from the Hessshite mystic, Abrove Uhov, and a blast of agonizing energy repulsed her. Itme told her that Uhov would remove the spell and give her the heart if she agreed to their request and succeeded in her mission. Desperate to put her honored ancestor to rest, Die contemptuously agreed to travel across worlds to bring back the slayer of Eeyax's brother, Veffir Voon Iyax.

Astride her cycle and joined by a trio of cycle-riding Muutar warriors, one each wielding a mace, sword, and crossbow, Die traveled to Manhattan and ambushed the monstrous Sludge. She dropped him to the ground with her energy whip, acknowledging in the process her regret in harming one who had slain her people's hated enemy, and asking that the souls of the swamp forgive her. Fighting back, Sludge threw the mace-biker into the sword-biker's sword and then forced himself to his feet and picked up Die by her fin. Screaming in agony as his tissue burned her fin, she lashed out with her claws, raking his face and frying it with silver fire. He dropped to the ground, incapacitated, his face looking like burnt charcoal, while the tip of her fin had become a large, ugly ball that flopped her comb over to the side of her head.

("Slave of Souls" unpublished script (fb) - BTS) - While Die was away, Eeyax's forces slaughtered her camp as punishment for their having looted Hessshite trading parties.

("Swamp of Souls" unpublished script) - Towing Sludge in a net behind their bikes, Die and sword- and crossbow biker returned to their camp via a dimensional warp, only to find their camp destroyed and their people slaughtered by the Hessshites.

Realizing what had happened and cursing herself for having affored Eeyax any trust, Die and her allies battled Eeyax's dozen-or-so Hessshite warriors; ultimately, after the Muutar slew multiple Hessshites, the two other warriors were slain, while Die was knocked out by a staff to the back of her head. Both Die and Sludge were taken back to Hesssh to be publicly executed.

("Slave of Souls" unpublished script (fb) - BTS) - Die's hands were encased in a sphere of some black, marble-like substance, and she was chained against a wall in Hessshite prison next to Sludge.

("Swamp of Souls" unpublished script) - Eeyax gloated that delivering Die and Sludge to Hessshite justice may make him ruler, but Die retorted that Eeyax was not half the reptile his brother was. After she detailed the history of Himsomel, Sludge suggested they ally against their common enemies.

("Slave of Souls" unpublished script (fb) - BTS) - Sludge and Die were hung in chains over the side of a Hessshite autogyro.

("Slave of Souls" unpublished script) - At daybreak, above the courtyard and a large crowd of Hessshites, a Hessshite magistrate sentenced Sludge to death for Iyax's "assassination," and Die was sentenced to death for plunder and slaughter.

However, the ceremony was interrupted when Pah Gorah (Iyax's lover) led a group of Predatori (followers of Iyax) who demanded the execution be carried out according to their ways, which involved their devouring Sludge alive. To avoid the ensuing battle, Itme flew the autogyro higher, advising Eeyax to comply with Hessshite law and drop the prisoners to their deaths.

However, this distraction allowed Sludge to climb the chains and confront Eeyax in his seat. Sludge swung Die up as well, and she insisted to cast into the ship's prow, where she locked her legs around Itme's throat, choking her. Sludge and Die eventually cast Eeyax and Itme overboard, where they fell to their apparent deaths, landing in manged heaps.

Meanwhile, Pah Gorah's Predatori barge arrived to assault the autogyro, and Die used the sphere containing her hands to break through the hull so she could touch the sphere against the starfoam, which melted the sphere and freed her hands.

Sludge hurled the autogyro's propeller mechanism at the Predatori ship, destroying it, after which the autogyro, containing Sludge and Die, crashed through a flock of puffball dweeks and then into the Swamp of Souls. Die was aghast as it was blasphemous for her people to touch the Swamp of Souls while still living, but before she could react, the viscous-jelly protohumans that composed the floor of the swamp pulled them under...and then spit them back out, unable to digest Sludge.

The pair landed in the forest surrounding the swamp, where Sludge began consuming the cucumber-like zuke, which had previously been shown to be able to temporarily revert him to human form. After Die tried to calm Sludge and clarify that the zuke grew wild there, they were confronted by Ambrove Uhok and Pah Gorah, who thanked them for getting rid of the last of the Veffirs and ending the Hessshite civil war. When Die expressed concern that the united Hessshites would war against her people, Pah Gorah assured her that the recent bloodshed and loss of their own people had sated their taste for blood.

Uhok then sent Sludge back to Earth with a number of zuke plants; still hating Die, Uhok sent her to Earth alongside him, and she was disgusted to find herself in a sewer.

Comments: Created by Steve Gerber.

Gerber's description of Princess Die: What we’ve got here is an alien sex-and-death goddess. She wears this stuff as casually as if she’d bought the outfit off the rack. Her whole manner is calculatedly offhand, nonchalant.

Gerber's notes said that she wore a chain mail shirt. However chain male is open between the chain links. If she wore a shirt to cover her flesh, it was more likely scale mail.

Die exclaimed, "By the MANGLED HANDS of MUNGG" and "BLACK MOONS OF SKETT!"
--By the terminology, Mungg would seem to be a person, while Skett would seem to be a planet (or perhaps a season when the black moons occur).

Sludge had a dream in which he glimpsed Reality-19169 where he, Die and others were World War II allied forces and a Hitler-esque Eeyax sought to become the Ubergator.
