History:

priest-sanpietro-93060-burn(Ultraverse Premiere#0/2 (fb) - BTS) - A priest at a church in the village of San Pietro, he knew the young altar boy Antonio; he may or may not have been aware that Antonio stole from the church.

(Ultraverse Premiere#0/2 (fb) - BTS) - After having left San Antonio a year before, Antonio returned, apparently having become a vampire.

(Ultraverse Premiere#0/2) - Well before dawn, Antonio confronted the priest inside the church, knowing he would be alone. The priest recognized him and noted it to be early for anyone to be about, after which Antonio told him he had traveled all night and -- as he grabbed his shirt/vestment -- that the had come from the depths of Hell.

The priest told him that if this was a robbery that he would find precious little in his church. Antonio admitted to having robbed the church as an altar boy but revealed that he was now a vampire. The incredulous priest noted that the church spoke of such things, but after Antonio noted that he sought "the magick in hot blood," the priest thrust his burning candlestick into Antonio's eye. After Antonio screamed out in pain, the priest told him that while Antonio had sought a solitary, helpless victim, he was never alone nor helpless as San Pietro watched over him and the town.

The priest grabbed a cross and told Antonio, "Back to your far-away Hell! The servants of the Lord defy you!" However, both an atheist and apparently immune to religious icons, Antonio laughed, telling him that vampires were not what they were described to be in various books. Further advising the priest that he would not become a vampire after he drained  his blood.

The priest reminded Antonio that he had been raised in the church and that he could not commit such sacrilege and desecration, as San Pietro would know. Insisting that he would know nothing, Antonio bit the priest in the neck, drained his blood and left him for dead.

priest-sanpietro-93060-corpse(Ultraverse Premiere#0/2 (fb) - BTS) - After Antonio had left the church, Yrial of Cloud City appeared in shadows (or obscured by wind or fog), making Antonio think she was an angel. Fleeing from her, he fell off a cliff and was impaled on the church spire and apparently destroyed.

Comments: Created by Steve Englehart and Rick Hockberg.

I'm not an expert in theology, but I believe that San Pietro is Italian for Saint Peter, aka Peter the Apostle, Simon bar Jonah and Simon Peter.

Too bad we didn't get or first or last name for this priest. He certainly had personality and the courage. Names make characters so much more memorable.

Well, Antonio calls himself a vampire, but I'm not 100% convinced; he desired the "magick of hot blood," so perhaps he became a sorcerer with vampiric aspects. However, this is the Ultraverse, which is quite different to Earth-616.

Yeah, entering a church, invited or not, and being immune to religious icons prominent during one's lifetime are certainly different than Earth-616, but not turning someone into a vampire after fatally drinking their blood? That seems different than most vampires I've seen.

After a quick Google search, the village of San Pietro is likely placed in Italy; there is also a small village called Santo Pietro in Sicily.

(Ultraverse Premiere#0/2) - More recently, Antonio, having become a vampire, sought out the priest at the Church of San Pietro and fatally drank his blood.

Antonio was subsequently spooked by the angelic-appearing obscured form of Yrial, and he fell off a cliff while fleeing from her and was impaled on the church's spire.
