History:

(Amazing Adult Fantasy I#14/5 (fb) - BTS) - Ozarr the Mighty lived within a lamp which had been owned by Homer's father and grandfather, but apparently none of Homer's ancestors had ever discovered it was a magic lamp. The lamp sat unused in Homer's attic.

(Amazing Adult Fantasy I#14/5) - One day, Homer and his wife Bertha were cleaning the attic when they happened to locate the magic lamp. Bertha mockingly rubbed the lamp only for Ozarr the Mighty to emerge from inside in a cloud of smoke. Ozarr offered to grant Bertha the "usual" three wishes. Without any deliberation, Bertha immediately asked for a big mansion to replace her "shabby" house. Ozarr conjured a new mansion for her.

Impressed, Bertha wished for an enormous diamond necklace. Ozarr replied that "diamonds are hard to find at the moment! It may take a while..." Bertha insisted she wanted the necklace immediately so Ozarr did "the best he could," conjuring up an imitation diamond necklace. Ozarr told her that while it wan imitation it looked like genuine diamonds. "Genuine diamonds take about two weeks!" Bertha decided the imitation neacklace would "have to do" until the real necklace was ready.

Two weeks later, Ozarr appeared to Bertha with the real diamond necklace and asked if she wanted it to be her third wish. Although Bertha was already enjoying acclaim from the imitation piece, she instantly agreed against Homer's advice. With the third wish complete, Ozarr disappeared in a cloud of smoke telling Berth, "See you around, kiddo!"

BERTHA

Bertha was Homer's domineering wife. Bertha didn't believe in Homer's quest to become an author and instead wanted him to get into a more traditional job she thought would be lucrative enough for her to live in luxury. After she mockingly rubbed an old lamp she found in the attic it proved to be a real magic lamp that released Ozarr the Mighty, who offered Bertha three wishes. Bertha immediately wished for a mansion in place of their home, which Ozarr granted. For her second wish she asked for a diamond necklace; Ozarr gave her a very convincing imitation necklace, saying the real one would take him 2 weeks to supply. Bertha entered high society and no one could tell her necklace was an imitation. However, when the 2 weeks were up and Ozarr appeared with the real necklace, Bertha agreed to spend her third wish so she could possess it. Homer was disappointed in her for wishing for such frivolous things when she might have wished for health or happiness. However, the authentic diamond necklace was so valuable that Bertha became afraid she'd be targeted by thieves. She put the necklace into a vault in her mansion because she was afraid of wearing them in public. However, paranoia preyed upon her as she feared someone would dig into her wall and steal the necklace. She remained locked in her room with the necklace in her hands, never going out and forgetting to eat. With Bertha occupied, Homer was finally able to write in peace.

HOMER

Homer was a writer married to Bertha. He allowed Bertha to dominate their relationship and was very meek and accommodating toward her. One day, Bertha ordered Homer to clean their attic and she found an old lamp which had been in Homer's family going back to at least his grandfather. Bertha mockingly rubbed the lamp as though it were a genie's lamp, only for the genie Ozarr the Mighty to appear. Homer tried to advise Bertha to use the three wishes Ozarr offered on things that would be substantial but she wanted luxury and spent them on a mansion, an imitation diamond necklace and finally a real diamond necklace. However, Bertha was so afraid someone would steal her diamonds that she became paranoid and locked herself in her room to keep a perpetual eye on her gems. Homer would bring her food and leave it outside her door. With Bertha fully occupied by her paranoia, Homer finally had the peace of mind he needed to write.
