Powers/Abilities: Edwin Mosley has large
bird-like wings that extend from his back. These appear to give him
flight (see comments) and he can easily carry another adult male in
midair. He has excellent mastery over his flight direction and sharp
turns, and can travel up to (at least) 50 mph. He had athlete-level
fitness while with a group of hunters called the Sportsmen, but it
appears the training regimen subsided after the group's end. Mentally
unstable, he is murderous, cannibalistic and has a passion for ending
super ("ultra") powers in other people.

card#39/Ultraverse Masters Skybox trading card#39) - Edwin Mosley was
born into
wealth and developed ultra powers of winged flight in puberty,
increasing his feeling of superiority. He sought out others like
himself and found the secret insidious club of fellow rich ultras
called the
Sportsmen, but knew it was only his wealth that kept him there, albeit
in the low ranks.
(Firearm#2 (fb) - BTS) - The Sportsmen were born with
ultra-powers at both or they manifested in puberty. They kept their
powers a secret and used them as an advantage in society to business
and academic leaders, eventually finding others the same to form a
club.
They donned fancy costumes and convened regularly at a remote manor.
Dismissive of regular humans, they treated them as cattle to be hunted,
used as pets and even consumed.
(Firearm#2) - Private investigator
Alec Swan tracked
down missing persons, like Arnie Tate and Danny Velez, but they had
been secretly hunted and killed by the Sportsmen. But the Sportsmen
became aware of Swan's snooping and didn't like the possibility of
being revealed, so they attacked him. Their leader Davenport lifted
Swan's car from the road and made him fall far down. Mosley swooped in
and captured Swan before he hit the ground to instill fear as sport.
(Firearm#3) - At their luxury forest retreat, the
Sportsmen revealed their origin and nature to Swan. Mosley looked on
like a subordinate. Davenport ordered Swan be their next target for a
hunt, threatening Tate's fiancee if he didn't comply. Mosley took to
the air to look for him but Swan was well hidden in the forest and
killed several of the Sportsmen.
(Firearm#4) - Thinking Swan had died in a car bomb
trap, the Sportsmen returned to their manor, expecting to dine on
Brody.
But the resilient Swan had survived and stealthily made his way inside
where he made a surprise attack on the Sportsmen in the dining room.
Swan was forced to retreat against their ultra powers and stumbled into
their trophy room. Swan found his special gun and grabbed it.
(Break-Thru#1) - Swan was followed by Mosley, who
knocked his gun aside and picked it up.
(Firearm#4) - Other Sportsmen scrambled in, preventing a clean kill by
any one of them. But Amber
Hunt's
sudden energy emanations far in the sky distracted the Sportsmen,
allowing Swan to recover his gun and kill the rest except Mosley, who
flew out the window captivated and up into the sky to chase Hunt's
light.
(Firearm#16 (fb) - BTS) - Mosley recovered from
Hunt's light effect but it had also altered his worldview. The wills of
the Sportsmen had been structured so that the wealth would be divided
among the remaining. Mosley disposed of the two other surviving
Sportsmen and was now incredibly wealthy. With the rise of
ultra-humans, he no longer saw them as unique, but instead a threat.
With his ultra wings, Mosley began to view himself akin to an angel
sent to Earth to rid it of "devil's spawn"; with his wealth he set up
an organization and a device to detect ultra-humans. He encountered
Rafferty, the deranged killer of ultras, and offered his technology to
aid Rafferty hunt down and murder 300 ultras (although Rafferty
intended to kill Mosley later too).
(Firearm#16 (fb)) - Mosley showed Rafferty the grand
ultra-tracking device.
(Firearm#17) - Rafferty thought he had finished with his set of kills, but Mosley angrily called him and demanded one more death for "this cycle". Believing a baby with incredible ultra powers was an abomination against God's holy word, Mosley ordered Rafferty travel to San Diego and murder the baby. Rafferty used mercenaries paid for by Mosley but instead pursued a personal vendetta against Swan, luring Swan in by using baby Penny Slater as a hostage. Rafferty revealed his strategy to Mosley, who tolerated the delay so long as the outcome was the same; (Mosley lost as Rafferty was soon killed and Slater survived).

his religious zeal, but kept his focus on eliminating ultras.
(Codename: Firearm#0 - BTS) - Mosely orchestrated a
war
between covert organizations, the US-based Aladdin and the UK-based The
Lodge, to steal the Ultra-Nullifier, a beam weapon that effectively
neutralized ultra powers by scrambling a target's brain and causing
amnesia so that forget they have powers (and thus be easily killed).
Mosely hired the brutal assassins the Blood Brothers for the task.
(Codename: Firearm#4/1) - Mosely secured a working
model, but a well-hidden virus corrupted the stolen data when it was
accessed at a Mosely's secret lab to crete more. Frustrated, he
incinerated the computer
technician with a blaster. He then ordered the Blood Brothers test
the Nullifier on an ultra; they murdered the peaceful ultra Butterfly
aided by it. However, the assassins kept the gun to use in their
vendetta against the ultra Firearm (confused Lodge undercover agent
ultra James Hitch (caught in his second Peter Lopez identity)). Mosely
sent his assistant after the the Blood Brothers but they killed her;
Hitch caught up and took the Nullifier back to The Lodge. Discovering
this, Mosely contacted his mole at The Lodge (Claire Acosta) and had
Hitch appear a traitor to foment further bloodshed between the secret
organizations.
(Codename: Firearm#5/1) - Mosely checked in again
with Acosta to ensure the two organizations were sending forces against
each other, and she confirmed that she had eliminated The Lodge's
security guards to give Aladdin access. Mosely was pleased at the
imminent chaos.

I don't want to guess at his weight--while he does
fly and has wings, he isn't shown flapping them like the X-Men's Angel,
so I doubt he has Angel's hollow bones or enhanced wing musculature.
Mosley certainly has upper body strength, but I would suggest that this
may be to hold his wings to stop them pulling him backward, and that
his flight is derived from a type of telekinesis with his wings
providing tilt and direction, possibly limited gliding depending on
conditions.
He changed his hair color from his initial Firearm
appearance (charcoal/black) in 1993 to the trading card look (blond) in
1994 and then gray in Codename: Firearm (1995). This may be in line
with his changed self-perception as an angel
and hence dyed. There's no good full body shot of Mosley except in the
trading cards, so I've gone with that for the profile, but that was
basically a short midpoint in his comic appearances with "golden" hair.
He's called Mosely (not Mosley) in some appearances like the Ultraverse Year One summary issue and in the post-Black September ("Infinity Effect") issues in Codename: Firearm. I consider it a simple spelling error by later writers.
This profile was completed 07/19/2026, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25th anniversary 's celebratory event to represent Firearm.

Claire Acosta was Edwin Mosely's undercover agent
within the UK-based covert organization The Lodge. Mosely was keen to
steal the Nullifier gun that neutralized ultra powers, but secret agent
James Hitch (who was at times uncontrollably switching to his Peter
Lopez undercover identity and personality) had taken it to The Lodge.
Acosta secretly alerted rival covert organization Aladdin and set in
motion a second attack so that she could gain the gun in the chaos.
Acosta shot dead Lodge security guards to give Aladdin easier access.
Going to the lab, she was confronted by Hitch/Lopez and his wife Marilu
Lopez. Acosta thought she had forced Lopez's switch back to Hitch and
ordered him to kill Marilu, but Hitch broke free of the programming.
Hitch tried to shoot Acosta, but his brain had been programmed not to
kill her. Marilu knocked Acosta out and the couple fled. Much later,
Acosta began forging a new device at an undisclosed location.
