History:

(Marville#2 (fb) - BTS) - Rush Limbaugh was a radio host with a lot of fans.

(Marville#2) - As Rush was relaxing in a reclining folding chair in Central Park (or some other park), surrounded by his aficionados, he overheard the nearby KalAOL (having traveled to this reality's present from Earth-3131's 5002 A.D.) preparing to give $100 to a down-on-his-luck man who had requested some spare change. Rush advised Kal to cease and desist, telling him not to bestow his hard-earned money to that low-life. Kal's modern-time period friend Mickey explained that Kal had been given the money as a reward after a bank robber had slipped on the drool puddle of Kal's dog, AOLstro.

    Amidst AOLstro farting (or being blamed for it some of the time), Mickey recognized Rush, and he introduced his aficionados. Rush continued to interrupt when Kal tried to give money to the beggar, insisting that the man had never worked an honest day in his life. The beggar corrected Rush that he was a comic book writer, at which point Mickey asked if the man was Peter David (see comments). limbaugh-rush-marville-seated-prof

    Regardless, Kal gave him the money, and Rush stood up and advised Kal that this man would tell his fellow indigents, and "our beautiful bastion of bronzing will be overrun by throngs..."

    Mickey interrupted, countering that the poor guy needed the money, but Rush argued that he was just going to use the money to procure alcoholic beverages. When the beggar admitted to being a bit parched, Kal gave him a "cold one" (presumably a beer). Rush told Kal that he wasn't doing the man any good, but Kal and the beggar both argued that he was indeed helping him.

    Rush proclaimed that now the man would never both to look for a job, but Mickey asked him if he was deaf, as the man had told them that he wanted to work but that no one would hire him. Rush admitted to being deaf and joked that that was ironic for a radio host (see comments).

    And then AOLstro farted again...or was blamed for it (it was neither clear what happened, nor was it particularly amusing).

    Kal told AOLstro that he could have his own show, but Rush, having sat back down again, replied, "Ridiculous. He is too lazy, drooling and farty."

(Marville#2 (fb) - BTS) - Kal, Mickey and AOLstro left the park, and Kal resolved that he wanted to help poor people.

   

Comments: Rush Limbaugh III is a real world person, the son of Rush Limbaugh II and Mildred Carolyn (nee Armstrong) Limbaugh.

    This profile is not meant to be a full profile on Rush Limbaugh, just the Marville version. As such, we don't know if the real world Rush Limbaugh's history correlates with the Marville version.
    The real world Rush Limbaugh was a prominent conservative political commentator, born January 12, 1951 and host of The Rush Limbaugh radio show from 1984 A.D. until his death in 2021. You can get more information from his page on Wikipedia or wherever you want to look for it.
    Rush Limbaugh lost his hearing over a period of three months in 2001, but he regained a measure of hearing via cochlear implant surgery that same year.
    Irony is not whimsy or something being surprising or coincidental. Irony is when you try to do something and have results that were the opposite of your intended goal...like calling an ambulance to save your life and having it run over and kill you. Or going someplace to avoid something or someone specifically and then encountering that someone or something in the place to which you had gone to avoid them/it.

    Oh my God, Marville was the worst series I've ever read.
    At best, it was (rarely) mildly amusing. At worst, it was pure agony.  It was part of some contest where Marvel's then-president Jemas thought he could outsell Peter David in his Captain Marvel series. Jemas apparently hated Peter David.
    Peter David is one of my favorite writers ever, and that's the case for many comic fans. The Appendix has a page dedicated to his creations that we've covered on the site, as well as to Peter David himself.
    This series was a bad mix of dog fart jokes and political commentary with almost-naked women in the cover in a desperate attempt to sell copies.
    And Rush didn't look like Rush (his face and hair weren't right, and I wouldn't think Rush was the sort to hang out at a public park in a swim suit), nor did the alleged Peter David look like Peter David. Mark Bright is a great artist, so I'm not sure what is up what that.
    I'll let you know the day I hear anyone have anything positive to say about this series.
    Only because I am dedicated to my website and to being complete did I review the pages of one issue to cover this character.

    KalAOL (aka the Marvel) originated on Earth-3131 circa 5002 A.D. I don't think the story taking place in the modern time period fits with Earth-616, but, honestly, it is so painful too read, I'm not willing to review it to confirm details that would rule it out.
    Maybe it would make sense for this story if he actually traveled into the past of Earth-3131 rather than into another reality.
    KalAOL appeared on Earth-616 in Great Lakes Avengers, at least.
