History:
(
Crazy Magazine#36 "Other Versions of Howard the Duck") - Duc Savage presumably was a detective, scientist and adventurer, possibly active in the 1930s

Comments: Created by Jim Newsome.

Duc Savage appears in a single panel with the name "Duc Savage Duck" as one of a number of Howard counterparts in the "Other Versions of Howard the Duck" in two-page feature in Crazy Magazine#36.

Clearly, Duc Savage was inspired by Doc Savage (Clark Savage, Jr."), the legendary 20th Century (1930s) English detective, scientist and adventurer, created by Henry W. Ralston, John L. Jovanovich, with contributions from Lester Dent

No further context is available, but it makes me wonder:

So, I asked Copilot, the AI program on my computer, to come up with a duck version of Doc Savage. I was actually pretty impressed with the results:

Doc Quackage is a towering, bronze‑feathered super‑duck whose muscles ripple like pond waves in a hurricane. Raised in a secret marsh laboratory by a team of genius mallards, he has honed his mind and body to the peak of avian perfection. His quacks can shatter stone. His feathers are bullet‑resistant. His moral code is as rigid as a frozen lake.

Signature traits:

🦆 The Fabulous Five → The Feathered Five

1. Renny → Wrenny

Original: Engineer with giant fists who loves punching doors. Duck parody: Wrenny is a hulking wren‑duck hybrid whose wings are so strong he can punch through barn doors, steel gates, and occasionally the laws of physics. His catchphrase: “This door is about to get flapped!”

2. Monk → Munk

Original: Ape‑like chemist with a pet pig. Duck parody: Munk is a squat, orangey‑brown duck with simian proportions and a genius for chemistry. He carries a pet mud‑piglet named Oinkers who hates water—an ongoing source of tension. Munk’s favorite insult: “You feather‑brained mallard!”

3. Ham → Hambone

Original: Dapper lawyer with a sword cane. Duck parody: Hambone is a sleek, black‑feathered duck who dresses in immaculate pond‑court attire. He wields a rapier disguised as a cattail reed, and he quotes obscure waterfowl legal precedents. His motto: “Justice is my pond.”

4. Long Tom → Long Quack

Original: Sickly‑looking electrical wizard. Duck parody: Long Quack is a pale, frazzled duck who looks like he’s been struck by lightning—because he has, repeatedly, while inventing new electro‑quack devices. He can power a whole marsh settlement by flapping his wings fast enough to generate static.

5. Johnny → Jawnny

Original: Archaeologist and geologist with a love of big words. Duck parody: Jawnny is a tall, thin duck with spectacles so thick they magnify his eyes to owl‑like proportions. He specializes in quack‑eology, the study of ancient duck civilizations. He speaks in absurdly long scientific terms, such as: “This sedimentary quackiform stratification is simply eggstraordinary.”

🦆 Team Dynamics (Duck Edition)

Perhaps someday, someone will flesh out the story of Duc Savage and the seven other characters from this featurette: Duck Carter of Mars, Batduck , Drake Vader, Duck Fury, Agent of Q.U.A.C.K., Duckey Crocket, Sheerluck Duck, and Duckula.

Physical features were estimated based on the Howard active on Earth-616.

This profile was completed 09/26/2026, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25th anniversary 's celebratory event to represent Crazy Magazine, Howard the Duck, Doc Savage and whatever else you want.
However, I failed to put it on the spreadsheet for the big finish, and so it did not get posted until after the event.
