History:
(Crazy Magazine#36 "Other Versions of Howard the Duck") - Batduck was presumably a vigilante of some sorts.
Comments: Created by Jim Newsome.
Batduck appears in a
single panel with the name "Batduck" as one of a number of
Howard counterparts in the "Other Versions of Howard the Duck" in two-page feature in Crazy Magazine#36.
Clearly, Batduck was inspired by Batman, a super hero from a Distant Cosmos.
No further context is available, but it makes me wonder:
- Did Howard travel from his anthropomorphic animals world (or
Duckworld, depending on the version) to another Earth?
- Did he originate on the same world in which he was a costumed vigilante?
- How much of Batman's history does Batduck share?
- What was his secret identity?
- Bruce Drake?
- Bruce Down?
- Howard Wayne?
- Rufus Xavier Sasparilla?
- Were his parents gunned down in front of him?
- Was he a wealthy philanthropist in his secret identity?
- Did he have a base in the Batpond?
- Did he drive a batmobile or a duckmobile?
- Is he affiliated with Bat-Hen, who is frustrated because
everyone thinks she is supposed to be a chicken...and/or because she
spells it Bathen, and everyone thinks it is pronounced "Bath-N"?
- I'm sure there are more and better duck jokes here...c'mon, help a brother out!
Perhaps someday, someone will flesh out the
story of Batduck and the seven other characters from this
featurette: Duck Carter of Mars, Duckey Crockett, Sheerluck Duck, Duckula, Duc Savage, Duck Fury: Agent
of Q.U.A.C.K. and Drake Vader.
Physical features were estimated based on the Howard active on Earth-616.
