He is prone to howling like a dog and
urinating on carpets.
History:
(Lance Barnes: Post Nuke Dick#1 (fb) - BTS) - Nuclear war ravaged the
Earth after private investigator Lance Barnes failed to deactivate the
timing mechanism on a nuclear missile launched by his enemy. Barnes
kept his involvement to himself, only telling his assistant, Peg.
As money no longer had the same value,
Barnes worked for a case of canned peaches, half in advance.
(Lance Barnes: Post Nuke Dick#1 (fb) - BTS) - In the resultant war-ravaged society, an unidentified man at least claimed to have been inspired to adopt the identity of the Dog Knight after a dead dog crashed through his window, which he considered an omen.
(Lance Barnes: Post Nuke Dick#1 (fb) - BTS) - The Dog Knight claimed to be on a crusade for justice. However, he spent most of his time protecting property whose owners were dead.
(Lance Barnes: Post Nuke Dick#1 (fb) - BTS) -<A few
years before the main story> - The Dog Knight drove a
cannibal named Tiny out of town.
(Lance Barnes: Post Nuke Dick#1 (fb) - BTS) - The Dog
Knight had a partner/adopted son known as Puppy. During a barrage of
gunfire, the Dog Knight used Puppy as a shield. The Dog Knight
considered that Puppy had thusly honored him with his sacrifice, and he
continued his crusade.
(Lance Barnes: Post Nuke Dick#1 (fb) - BTS) - The Dog
Knight attempted to recruit the young Mason Thrump to become the new
Puppy. Thrump did not know why Dog Knight was calling him puppy, and
when they were alone, the Dog Knight told him to take off all of his
clothes (allegedly so he could put on his costume).
(Lance Barnes: Post Nuke Dick#1 (fb) - BTS) <A few
weeks before the main story> - According to the old McKutty widow,
some Quad-Mutants smelled a pie she had made can came crawling around
back of her house. She cried when she saw how pitiful they were.
The Dog Knight then rushed into
Mrs. McKutty's house, beat the Quad-Mutants to a pulp, started howling
and then urinated on her rug.
(Lance Barnes: Post Nuke Dick#1 (fb) - BTS) - A mob
captured the Dog Knight, and the local lord was happy to throw him to
the mercies of the plebeian courts.
(Lance Barnes: Post Nuke Dick#1 (fb) - BTS) - The Dog Knight's lawyer hired Lance Barnes to gather evidence for Dog Knight's defense. The Dog Knight gave Barnes a list of citizens he had helped, and Barnes was to track down a few of these people to act as character witnesses.
(Lance Barnes: Post Nuke Dick#1) - During his trial, the Dog Knight answered a question on his origins by noting that he had been inspired by the omen of a dead dog crashing through his window. As there were laws in that sector against independent mysticism, the Grand Inquisitor deducted two points from his total of ten (with the significance being that if his number dropped to zero, he would be executed).
