DEVIANT RAIDING CRAFT

Powers/Abilities/Functions: The Deviant Raiding Craft is a flying vessel which can be outfitted with a large crew of Deviants (possibly more than 3 dozen). As the Deviants' city of Lemuria is underwater, raiding crafts are designed to travel while submerged. The Raiding Craft has some form of airlock so that smaller shuttlecraft can dock with it. On the forward part of the craft there are six cannons which appear to be loaded with different weapons, including the Z-Ray, a Deviant weapon boasted to be capable of killing "a hundred humans." The energy from the Z-Ray can injure an Eternal; another cannon houses the Shock Howitzer, which also fires explosive blasts of energy. The Raiding Craft includes communication devices such as a wall-screen, which projects a 2-dimensional image of the conversing party. A related class of Raiding Craft dubbed a "warship" had many of the same armaments including a net which released a form of energy that could stun an Eternal; the warship class included a small boat-like vessel which docked inside the larger warship.

History:

(Marvel Universe I#6) - Warlord Kro led his Raiding Craft in an attack on an airplane carrying the Monster Hunters, who were transporting the Deviant mutate Gorgilla. A blast from the Raiding Craft damaged the plane, forcing the Eternal Makkari to reveal his superhuman powers to his fellow Monster Hunters in order to salvage the craft.

(Eternals I#3) - Warlord Kro commanded his Raiding Craft as it pursued a light aircraft bearing Ikaris and his mortal friend Margo Damian. The raiding craft fired its Z-Ray at Ikaris while he was outside of the craft and struck him dead center, but although Ikaris was lightly wounded he was able to dodge the Shock Howitzer and return the craft, then use his powers to reshape the plane into a craft which could travel to New York much more quickly.

(Eternals I#4) - As Kro's forces attacked New York in the guises of "the Devil" and an army of "demons," Ikaris was stunned by a Brain-Mine. Kro had Ikaris returned to his Raiding Craft, which was submerged underwater nearby New York. Kro's crew received the stunned Ikaris and sealed him inside a torpedo tube which they fired into the deep of the ocean.

(Eternals I#5) - After Kro's forces captured the Eternal Sersi and Margo Damian they were transported to the submerged Raiding Craft

(Eternals I#6) - Margo and Sersi were held at gunpoint by Deviants in the Raiding Craft's security chamber but Sersi demonstrated a characteristic lack of interest in the Deviants threats as she casually mocked them and used her powers to render their weapons useless. Just then the ship's executive officer set Sersi and Margo free, explaining that Thena and Kro had formed a truce in New York. The executive officer also located the torpedo casing holding Ikaris, returned it to the interior of the craft and removed the Brain Mine from Ikari's head.

(Eternals I#8) - Kro used his Raiding Craft to tranport himself and Thena to Lemuria as part of their attempts at making peace between their people.

(Eternals I#10) - When Eson the Searcher of the Celestials' Fourth Host came to study Deviant Lemuria his very presence caused great destruction to the underwater city. Several Raiding Crafts made assaults on him but were unable to harm the Celestial, who ignored their attacks.

(Eternals Forever I#1) - A modified Deviant Raiding Craft called a warship was sent by Ghaur to intercept Ikaris mid-air. Although Ikaris easily blasted one of the ship's canons the ship struck him with a net that stunned him. A small boat-like vessel emerged from the craft to catch Ikaris and place a brain mine upon his brow. Returning with Ikaris to the craft they flew back to underwater Lemuria and led the captive Ikaris to Ghaur.

The Raiding Craft's sudden appearance in Marvel Universe I#6 was one of many hints to Kro's true identity throughout issues #4-6 (his identity was revealed in issue #7).

Gee, I love this ship! The design on this vessel is, in this Prime One's opinion, among Kirby's most pleasing designs. It would make a great toy.

THE EXECUTIVE OFFICER

The Executive Officer of Warlord Kro's Raiding Craft was responsible for operating the vessel during Kro's absence as he led his "demons" in an invasion of New York. When Thena made a truce with Kro's forces, the executive officer arranged for Sersi and Margo Damian to be released from their custody aboard the Raiding Craft. He also arranged for Ikaris to be released from his confinement inside a torpedo case with a Brain Mine on his forehead. After the Brain Mine was removed Ikaris attacked the officer and threatened to crush his head but Sersi halted Ikaris, informing him of the truce.
