History: (Ultimates III#8 (fb)) - Captain Marvel was one of the Guardians of the Galaxy of the 61st Century, a group 250,000 members strong that routinely prevailed over universal threats. Captain Marvel was in a romantic relationship with her fellow Guardian America Chavez. Together, they defeated the Ultron Dominion by splitting themselves through the Infinity prism to fight everywhere in spacetime simultaneously. They developed a new form of super-diplomacy to placate the 24th Celestial Host after it had judged the Milky Way Galaxy a failure.
When the Maker of
Earth-1610 arrived on Earth-6160 and began reshaping its history via
time travel, the effects on the 61st Century were
catastrophic. Driven by their oath to "Save Everything," the Guardians
of the Galaxy transformed the entire 100 years of their century into
the Century-Ship and escaped their collapsing reality into the
Superflow. They ran into the army of Kang (future Tony Stark)
stationed
just outside of time and fought to protect the integrity of their
ship,
ultimately in vain.
As the future fell apart around them, the Guardians reversed course and re-entered the reality that had replaced theirs. The catastrophic impact killed centillions (a number with 600 digits) aboard the ark, while the few surviving Guardians were thrown across time at faster than light speeds.
Captain Marvel landed on Earth in the distant past along with broken fragments of the Century-Ship, which she used to construct the Apokastasis, a new ship driven by pure hope. She began searching for other survivors, locating Star-Lord, Ultimate Nullifier, and Cosmo Starstalker, who could track by scent other Guardians even millennia away. They had discovered that the Maker had created a barrier impervious even to their time-travel technology, spanning from 1963 to 2024.
(Ultimates III#8) - When Cosmo finally located her beloved America, Captain Marvel piloted the Apokastasis to her spacetime location in January, 2025. They found America in the company of others, but she did not recognize her friends or her lover. America's new teammates grew concerned by the Guardians' attitude, and when Captain Marvel blasted Captain America away, the Ultimates jumped into the fight. While her teammates effortlessly handled the self-proclaimed heroes of the distant past, Captain Marvel isolated herself and America in a bubble and pleaded to her to remember. Cosmo pried into America's mind, finding that her memories were not suppressed but rather fully amputated. Captain Marvel then resorted to showing America their shared past from her own memories, also telling their story to the Ultimates. Captain Marvel asked America Chavez to join her in the search for surviving Guardians, but America declined, saying that the memories shown to her were no longer hers, and that she was committed to fighting the Maker with the Ultimates in 2025. Frustrated, Captain Marvel added that the Guardians had already seen the future in which the Maker had won and the Ultimates lost, but she ultimately respected America's decision. She left her a temporal beacon flare and departed to continue her mission.
(Ultimate Universe: Two Years In (fb) - BTS) - Having locating Giraud the Phoenix and Gary, wielder of the Infinity Gauntlet, the crew of the Apokastasis sped up the process of finding others, and two new ships -- Hoddmimis Holt and Taripay Pacha -- were constructed to aid in the search.
(Ultimate Universe: Two Years In) - Star-Lord came up with a plan of fusing the timeline created by the Maker into the dead reality-200080, thus restoring Earth-6160's original future. The plan failed, killing both Gary and Giraud. At their memorial service, Captain Marvel assured the crews of the other two ships that their mission would continue. Distressed by his failure, Star-Lord departed to search for Madrox, believed dead.
When Cosmo located Ultron-82, Captain Marvel and her two remaining crewmates went to retrieve her from 2,000,000 B.C. Just as the First Celestial Host was altering humanity's distant ancestors, Ultron-82 revealed that she had observed savagery and brutality inconsistent with the future records and speculated that this was caused retroactively by the Maker's intervention. She had decided to stay in her time, just like America, and Captain Marvel gave her a temporal flare beacon as well. After that, Star-Lord returned to the Apokastasis but then isolated himself from everyone. The others went to rescue Churnn from 13 million years ago on Moord, only to arrive after their friend had been long dead, and his teachings had been grotesquely perverted by the native Badoon. The crew began losing hope, the only thing keeping the Apokastasis moving.
They found Daredevil (Beyonder) reverted to a childlike state, collecting precious moments and objects into his hypercube. Upon seeing his friends, Daredevil tried to collect them as well, and when Captain Marvel tried to resist, he began attacking them through higher-dimensional space. Reading Captain Marvel's thoughts about him, the Beyonder Without Fear used his powers to alter his friends' minds. Cosmo and Ultimate Nullifier gladly jumped into the hypercube, but Captain Marvel caught that those ideas were not her own and confronted Daredevil. She opened the hypercube, restoring everything to its proper place, and took Daredevil back to the Apokastasis.
All hope seemed lost, and Ultimate Nullifier decided to nullify the entirety of Maker's new timeline, as separating it from theirs cleanly had proved impossible. Captain Marvel caught him just in time and protested that the risk of destroying both realities and all lives within them was too great. Unable to argue that Maker's timeline should not exist, she simply said that it was not their choice to make. Ultimate Nullifier collapsed into her arms in tears just as the temporal beacon flare was activated.
Arriving in 4362 A.D., they discovered that Celestials themselves were now under control of the Maker and had nearly finished converting all life in the Universe into genetically identical Children of Tomorrow. The flare was launched not by America, as Captain Marvel had hoped, but rather by Ultron-82, who asked her to shield them from the instinctively violent Children. U-82 then revealed her findings: the rise and fall of civilizations was cyclical and inevitable, and they were neither caused by the Maker nor a fate that could be avoided by the Guardians' own future. Before Captain Marvel could completely lose hope in her mission, U-82 gave her the message from America that proposed updating the Guardians' motto to "Save what you can." Back aboard the Apokastasis, Star-Lord revealed that he had been cultivating a colony of microorganisms that was their friend Madrox, helping restore it to the threshold of sentience. With Madrox, U-82, and Daredevil joining their ranks, hope aboard the Apokastasis was restored, and the mission was continued, aimind to rescue Cyttorex from the 30th Century next.
(Ultimate Endgame#4) - When America's temporal flare was finally received, the Guardians of the Galaxy traveled to her location in Latveria on May, 2026, where a battle was fought against those infected by the Maker's spores. King T'Challa of Wakanda had ordered a nuclear strike to sterilize Latveria, but the Guardians converted the primitive weapons into music and instead trapped Maker's puppets inside Daredevil's hypercube. Captain Marvel explained to the heroes of Earth that the Guardians had answered the beacon of America Chavez, but was then told that America was inside Maker's time-dilating Dome. U-82 realized that the Guardians had arrived minutes before the signal had been sent, just as the Dome came down, and the Maker broke free.
(Ultimate Endgame#5) - With horror, Captain Marvel realized that the Maker -- now possessing the Immortus Engine -- was expanding himself into four dimensions, bringing about the very moment that had unmade their future. The Guardians joined the other heroes in trying to contain the Maker and his extensions. When all hope seemed lost, the Maker was defeated by the sacrifice of Doom, his own Earth-6160 counterpart. Captain Marvel and America Chavez hugged and kissed in the immediate celebration.
(Ultimate Universe Finale) - After the defeat of the Maker, the rebuilding began. Her mission in the past complete, America rejoined the Guardians of the Galaxy, once again in a relationship with Captain Marvel. While looking into the future through his own Immortus Engine, Iron Lad saw Captain Marvel, America, and the other Guardians fighting a Celestial.
Comments: Created by Deniz Camp & Juan Frigeri.In different scenes, Captain Marvel's eyes appear as white, blue, or yellow. Presumably this is not a coloring error, but rather her distinctive trait, possibly related to her powers.
A note on the timeline: a distant future of Earth-6160 would normally be considered only a possible future and thus taking place in an alternate reality, especially with the context of that future being erased and replaced by another. However, Ultimate Endgame#5 reveals that reality-6160 is different from most others, and that within it changing the past actually changes the future, without creating a branching timeline in which the past remained unchanged. This is presented as a key plot point which made the entire story possible: it's what led the Maker-1610 to choose Earth-6160 for his experiments in the first place, and also what enabled his eventual defeat. Unless conflicting evidence is presented in a future story, this profile treats the Guardians of the Galaxy of the 61st century as being native to Reality-6160.
Among other differences from Earth-616, Earth-6160 evidently lacks the sliding timescale. Rather events occur in real publication time, with many issues dated precisely to the month of their release. Because of this, all dates are treated as factual rather than relative and are presented as given in the story.
This profile was completed 06/26/2026, but its publication was
delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25th anniversary
's celebratory event to represent the Reality-6160 Ultimate stories and
characters.
