Callahan (Reality-80416; Galatia 9 ally; Starstruck character)

Powers/Abilities: Callahan was extremely skilled and swift in combat, enabling him to take out perhaps a dozen combatants (although many if not all of them were presumably in some degree of intoxication) in short order.
However, he did seem prone to walking into sword strikes.

He could be incapacitated by deep slashes to his neck or chest with apparently major arterial bleeding, but within seconds he would heal such wounds and recover with no long-term consequences.

He was a highly-skilled spacecraft mechanic, and he apparently had significant carnal prowess.

He spoke somewhat broken English (or whatever Galatia and most of the other "humans" spoke), but he also spoke whatever the Teoman Hunters spoke, as well as his own native language, which may or may not have been the same as what the Teoman hunters spoke. callahan-starstruck-heal

History:
(Starstruck#4) - At the One Place bar in "Town" on the planet Alias, "Callahan" ordered a milk, earning him mocking from locals Shorty and Slim. He ignored the taunts, but when they turned threatening, he swiftly took them out.

This led multiple other bar patrons to join the fight, both Callahan's swift moves subdued his numerous assailants.

As he subsequently drank his milk, Galatia 9, who was present at the bar and had consumed a substantial mount of beer, complimented his moves and told him that she would like to see the rest of them.

It's not clear what happened next, but Galatia 9 either passed out or "Callahan" punched her out (presumably the former?). Callahan subsequently carried her out of the bar over his shoulder.

When Galatia awakened, she was fully clothed but handcuffed (with restraints extending to the ceiling), while "Callahan" was at least shirtless.

After he donned a Callahan Rec Pol shirt, a pair of Teoman Hunters (Adaamon Jug and Jar) then appeared, and Callahan spoke to them in a foreign language, ignoring Galatia's request to be let free so she could go to the bathroom.

As Callahan logged into some communication equipment and attempted to reach Mr. Factor, however, one of the hunters slit his throat from behind and then spoke to Mr. Factor, noting that they had failed to find prey and wished to end their lives. Mr. Factor insisted they first find the fighters they were sent to find, after which they could kill themselves. The hunters subsequently departed.

While Galatia lamented his passing over his blood-soaked body, a hissing sound occurred and steam or smoke was released as his wound healed. Reviving, he told her that there was nothing important in his throat and asked her where her friend (Brucilla) was. When she called him Callahan, he clarified that he was "Not Callahan. Only shirt is Callahan." callahan-starstruck-full-seated

Finding that Brucilla had left a message that she had gone fishing, Galatia resolved to get back to her ship and save her friend, but "Callahan" told her that they go put an end to the hunters, with Galatia guiding and then they would all go back to the Rec Station.

Not appreciating being ordered around, Galatia told him to look up in the sky and then punched him, knocking him to the ground.

After telling Callahan that she had just wanted to get a few things straight, Galatia asked if he was coming along with her.

Some time later, for some reason now both naked, Callahan and Galatia ambushed and slew Adaamon Jug and Jar. When Galatia stated that she could use a drink and a shower, Callahan told her that the brigade would come soon, Galatia appreciated that they should move it and considered that they would have to shower together.

As they plodded through some marshy land, Galatia asked why Factor wanted them, and he told her, "Not ask. Just get." When someone (I think it was Brucilla, departing without Galatia for reasonable irrelevant to this profile) soon flew away in her ship (presumably the Harpy), Galatia was initially furious, but Callahan advised her, "Easy come. Easy gone."

Galatia briefly wondered what they would do next, before they both realized that the answer was sex.

(Starstruck#5) - Callahan flew with Galatia in some short-distance ship to Omega Six with the plan of meeting with a group of women (the Amazons of Omega Six, (Omegazons?). She told him to let her talk and to stand behind her and scrunch down a little to look shorter; Callahan countered " callahan-starstruck-realname-smaller

becomes short for no man." Regardless, Galatia soon found that since her departure 10 cycles ago, the Amazons had promoted her to the rank of junior deity.

Given the royal treatment by the Amazons, Callahan and Galatia spent significant time making romance.

(Starstruck#5 (fb) - BTS) - In their off-time, Galatia began retraining the archers, while Callahan worked on turning the pods into workable long-distance space craft.

Galatia planned to take 50 of the Amazons with her when she and Callahan eventually departed.

(Starstruck#5) - The women Amazons felt that Callahan had nice thighs, and Galatia was not sure how long her status as divine daughter would enable her to keep the women off of her.

(Starstruck#5 (fb) - BTS) - Callahan nearly finished work on the command pod, having only to install the Tiger's Tape unit and holoreceiver.

(Starstruck#5) - As Galatia prepared to make her departure, the Amazon Sonja Henna asked if she would leave them with no remembrance of her or token of her coming. Playing up her role, Galatia told her to ask it of her, and if it was in her power, she would grant it, and then Galatia told her that they wanted to take "The boy."

When Callahan countered "No woman make of callahan-starstruck-realname-smaller

a gift," Galatia advised him not to be stupid as he could take Henna and her two allies but the tribe would tear her to pieces. callahan-starstruck-henna

When Henna taunted Galatia, asking if a goddess let a boy do her thinking, Galatia seized the chance, telling Henna that those were challenge words and that she would fight her for her honor, with the winner taking the boy.

As the two fought furiously, Callahan broke free from the Amazons restraining him, but he leaned too close to the battle and took a sword slash from Henna to his chest, from which blood sprayed. Hoping Callahan would heal from this wound, too, Galatia pretended to call on her mother to fill the boy with life.

The Amazons were shocked as Callahan began to move again, and Galatia whispered to him to keep still as she was going to offer him to Henna but that honor would not let her accept. However, when Galatia ritually gave Callahan to Henna, Henna noted that by custom and law she must not accept this gift but that she gladly accepted this boon from the goddess.

(Starstruck#5 (fb) - BTS) - Galatia departed Omega Six, leaving Callahan behind, but comfortable in the knowledge that he would find a way off. She rationalized her actions with, "A good man is hard to find, but a ship is a ship is a ship."

We have no history for Callahan.

Where is he from and/or what race is he part of?
Are his apparent swift-fighting abilities and healing native to his race?
Was he native to Alias or what brought him there?

Was "Callahan" intending to sell Galatia to the Teoman Hunters (for bounty or something else)?

Why did they kill him?
Who knows?

His name is obviously not Callahan, but that's was Galatia 9 consistently called him, and who can argue with her.

When he attempted to reach Mr. Factor, he said "Code 7, Kami-Cosy, Alias 4, Mr. Factor, please."

I don't know what Kami-Cosy is/was.

Perhaps a location from which or to which he was sending the message?

When he actually said his name, it was in an unintelligible language (see real name at the top of the profile)

Most if not all of the women who met him commented, "Nice Thighs," either verbally or just in their heads.
What is his fate?
Did he eventually depart Omega Six on his own?
Did he stay and make hybrid-ginger babies with Sonja Henna?

Sonja Henna is presumably a play on earlier-20th Century Norwegian figure skater Sonja Henie. Google her.
I would think that it was also a play on Henna, the dye used for temporary tattoos and hair coloring (as Galatia taunted her that her red hair color was not natural)
And maybe the red hair and her warrior nature were also a play on (homage to?) Red Sonja, the Hyrkanian warrior and sometime ally of Conan...

Earth-80416 Centuries in the future, Earth's population was halved by a nuclear war. Humanity emigrated across the universe, colonizing worlds. When the Great Dictator was overthrown by revolutionaries, a power struggle raged between his heirs, the Bajars, and the revolutionary leaders, the Medeas. Mary Medea faked her death and began an elaborate plan to eventually take control and stabilize the anarchic era. Disguised as new player Queen Glorianna, she orchestrated a web of interconnections to achieve what would one day be called The Great Change. “Starstruck” (play; 1980); (Marvel) Starstruck: The Luckless, the Abandoned and Forsaked (1984)

The story follows the various pawns and rivals in the game, in evolving stages of their lives and of the scheme, as they all eventually meet and collide. In particular the story focuses on the back stories of Galatia 9, a freedom-fighter amazon, and Brucilla The Muscle, a good-natured hothead pilot; where they came from, how they meet, and what happens because of it.
Galatia 9 is Mary Media's sister. The story and the characters are interesting, but it it REALLY hard to follow what's going on sometimes, and the narrative/text boxes generally seem to be irrelevant or, at least, exhausting.

The graphic novel is composed of reprints of strips that originally appeared in Heavy Metal Magazine. The six issue Epic series appears to be new stories, not reprints from HM. Everything in the GN and first issue of the Epic series is then reprinted in the first 12 issues of IDW's 13 issue series, EXCEPT for the GN's Starstruck poster / title page and Cycle 135: The Right Bait. No idea why that tale is left out. The IDW stuff however also adds in a TON of extra stuff, not just new tales but also new scenes inserted between panels of the Marvel GN, to the point of effectively being new stories. Oh, and it's been heavily recolored. The IDW series also adds in some back-up tales of the Galactic Girl Guides, and various in-universe posters and articles. The 13th and final issue of the IDW series is just more of this new back-up material.

The IDW Deluxe Edition collection includes all of the IDW series issues, including the Girl Guide back-up tales and posters.

Per the contents listings on comics.org, the Dark Horse four issues look to be the same stories as those in the IDW edition - including the material that wasn't in the Marvel version. At least for the first two issues, which are fully covered; it's probably relatively safe to ASSume the same for the next two issues, which don't have full contents listed on comics.org.

IDW's Old Proldiers New Die reprints some more of the Epic series, but again with a lot of new panels and scenes - specifically, #2 of the Epic series takes up #1-3 of Old Proldiers thanks to the amount of additional material added. There's a prologue in Epic's #3 that seems to be partially left out of the IDW Proldiers run. #3 of the Epic series is reprinted and expanded in #3-6 of the IDW Proldiers, up until the first 2 panels on p25 of Epic's #3 matching the last panels of p13 of IDW's Proldiers #6. After that point nothing from the Epic run seems to be reprinted, and the remainder of Proldiers#6 goes off and tells new material, switching to a new scene that reveals the prior section was someone recounting events and allowing them to quickly end the tale. It seems IDW realized they were ending the series, so they cut the Epic tale at an appropriate point. The rest of the Epic run is not reprinted anywhere AFAIK.

The Marvel stuff to IDW stuff is mostly like the standard cut of a movie compared to the Director's Cut - the latter tells the same story, but with additional material added throughout. However, there are a few bits not reprinted by IDW. To get the whole story you would want to read:
