active in the pre-modern
time period, at least (see comments)
Occupation: Unrevealed;
former freedom fighter
Group Membership: Formerly the

North, Ricky
North, Stephen
James "S.J." North;
he enjoyed the company of Daisy
Kane, not appreciating that at the time she was using Ricky for
Cleo Vanderlip

whomever he fought against with S.J. North (see
comments)
Known Relatives: Unidentified father
Aliases: The "Old Alpine Goat" (from S.J. North)
Base of Operations: Paris, France
First Appearance: Dakota North#3 (October, 1986)
Powers/Abilities: Guy is a kind and giving man, with a fondness and weakness for women. He enjoys telling stories of the old days.
In his youth, he was an experienced
fighter, presumably skilled in espionage, hand-to-hand combat, the use
of fire arms and other combat strategies.
History:
(Dakota North#3 (fb) - BTS) - When Guy was a young man, his father would not trust him with money when he was with a pretty girl, and he knew that he would spend it all on the woman.
(Dakota North#3 (fb) - BTS) - Guy
was part of the French Resistance (see
comments), and S.J. North joined them in the hills and fought
alongside them. Per Guy, "The women
were beautiful and our cause was just."
At some point, Guy and S.J.
successfully hid out from their enemies in pigpens, where they well
filthy but well-hidden. They apparently then ambushed their foes amidst
squealing pigs and squawking hens.
(Dakota North#3 - BTS) - After Ricky North -- who unknowingly possessed a pen containing a sample of experimental nerve gas -- had been led to Paris by Daisy Kane, secretly an agent of Cleo Vanderlip, he realized that they needed money quickly, and so he sought out Guy Beaumontain, knowing he was local and an old friend of his father's.
(Dakota North#3 - BTS) - After Ricky
found him and requested money, Guy tracked down his father at the home
of his sister, Dakota, and S.J. instructed Guy to take money from his
(S.J.'s) account to buy plane tickets home. He further advised Guy that
Dakota would meet Ricky's plane (to ensure his safe return).
(Dakota North#3) - Advising Ricky that his father didn't trust him with the money, Guy noted his similar weakness to women and told Daisy that for her, he would stay impoverished for life. Guy brought them to the Banque du Paris and withdrew the money, while Ricky forged his dad's signature and apparently accessed and raided his safe deposit box. Guy then took Ricky and Daisy to enjoy a good French meal before their flight.
(Dakota North#3 - BTS) - Dakota arrived in Paris.
(Dakota North#3) - After telling
Ricky of his barn adventure with his father, Guy apparently went to the
bathroom or perhaps to pay the cashier, during which time Daisy led
Ricky to flee.
Returning to the table to find them missing, Guy went outside and called to them, wondering if it was a game, at which point he encountered and greeted Dakota. He shared with her how he just dined with Ricky and "the delighftul Daisy," after which they had vanished. He suspected that they must have ducked into the Metro subway, although he did not know why they would do that.
Upset out having traveled from New York
to lose track of Ricky, Dakota asked how he could have let them get
away, and he replied that he thought Daisy was to blame as she seemed to
think Ricky had money. He explained that she was always talking about
buying things and hinted that she collected antique pens. Regretting
losing them, Guy told Dakota that he had faith in her and that she would
find them. He bade her "Bon soir"
(good night).
I only reviewed the
story in which he appeared, where he is consistently called "Guy." The
Appendix profile notes his name to be Hugo "Guy" Beaumontain.
Is he called Hugo somewhere else, or did I miss it in
#3?
This profile was

for the Appendix 25th anniversary 's celebratory event to
represent Dakota North.
