History:
(Marvel Preview#4 (fb)) - Betty, a young woman at the NASA Training Center, stopped by Peter Quill's apartment to welcome him to the base. She was appalled to discover that Quill kept Al, an owl, as a pet, and she found herself resentful when Quill talked to Al but would not speak with her.

(Marvel Preview#4) - Two years later, Al looked on, startled, as Quill trashed his apartment in a tantrum after being denied the opportunity for spaceflight.

Quill began to drink heavily, and pleaded with Al for answers as to why he couldn't ever get what he wanted and why people cared so much about whether a person liked them or was likable.

Quill ultimately begged of the bird, "You like me, don't you, Al?", declaring Al to be his only friend.

To all this, Al could only respond with a question of his own; "Whooo?"

Comments: Created by Steve Englehart and Steve Gan.

Al has not been seen since Peter Quill left for space without him to become Star-Lord. One would hope, given Quill's obviously final departure witnessed by NASA staff, that prompt arrangements were made to deal with his vacated living space and that Al would have been rescued.
