History:
(Spider-Man 2099 I#5 (fb) - BTS) - Winston acquired a job as the assistant to Alchemax Vice President Tyler Stone.

(2099 Unlimited I#9 / 2 (fb) - BTS) - To make himself more efficient around the Alchemax offices, Winston had a third cybernetic arm attached to himself.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#18 / 2) - Interested in the potential of young Miguel O'Hara, Tyler Stone had Winston drive him to meet the O'Haras and pick up Miguel. Winston then drove Stone and Miguel to the Alchemax School for Gifted Youngsters, where Winston opened the vehicle door for Tyler Stone as Stone exited.

(2099 Unlimited I#9 / 2 (fb)) - Winston waited by the car as the Alchemax School teacher, Angela Daskalakis, came out to greet Miguel and Stone.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#5) - While reviewing footage of Spider-Man 2099 battling the Specialist years later, Tyler Stone summoned Winston into his office and ordered him to interrupt all scheduled Public Eye programming to direct feed the footage of Spider-Man's battle with the Specialist instead so every city access monitor was tuned in to the fight. Explaining that he would need clearance to do so, Winston confirmed with Mr. Stone that he was recording and Mr. Stone gave Winston full authorization to accomplish his goal as instructed. Winston then confirmed that he had saved the recording of Stone's authorization and informed Stone that he would have the footage ready in thirty seconds. Stone commended Winston and instructed him to alert the Public Eye corps. Winston questioned whether the corps should converge and apprehend Spider-Man, to which Stone answered that the corps should converge on the hero but not apprehend, explaining that he had arranged the battle not to imprison Spider-Man but to use the hero for much more. He also instructed Winston to have the corps observe and make sure Spider-Man finishes the battle against the Specialist.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#6) - Winston was present by Tyler Stone's side as Stone interrogated Sgt. Rico Estevez of the Public Eye for using lethal force against Spider-Man 2099. When Sgt. Estevez argued that Spider-Man 2099 was a public menace, Stone fired him with prejudice and ordered Winston to remove Estevez from his office. As Winston grabbed Sgt. Estevez, Estevez pleaded with Tyler Stone to reconsider, reminding Stone that he had been with Public Eye for fifteen years. A few moments later, following a meeting with the Alchemax CEO, Tyler Stone summoned Winston back to his office and ordered him to immediately assemble the best Public Eye squad available to investigate Spider-Man 2099's fall into downtown and search for a potential body. Winston reminded Stone that the Public Eye "flyboys" wouldn't be happy since downtown did not have any cameras but Stone exclaimed that he didn't care how they felt and ordered Winston to make them do their assigned job.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#7) - Winston interrupted Tyler Stone's holographic boating trip to inform him of the arrival of Dana D'Angelo, Miguel O'Hara's fiancee. At first annoyed that he had been interrupted, Stone told Winston to send Ms. D'Angelo in upon hearing she was outside. Winston then stood by Stone's side as Dana D'Angelo entered the room and attempted to scold Stone for what he had recently done to Miguel.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#10) - Tyler Stone ordered Winston to end a projection he was watching and summoned him to his office. When Winston arrived, Stone ordered him to gather a full list of subaquatic counterstrike options at Alchemax's disposal before becoming distracted with an urn Winston was carrying. Stone asked what it was and Winston informed Stone that the urn contained the cremated body of Stone's son, Kron. Winston then stood by as the uncaring Stone monologued about Kron's stone and remarked that he should show some sort of final gesture for Kron's passing. Winston watched silently as Tyler Stone then took the urn into the bathroom and flushed Kron's ashes down the toilet. Stone then returned and presented Winston with the empty urn, suggesting Winston put some flowers in it and commenting that there was no sense letting a good urn go to waste. Winston then calmly stated "Yes, sir." and walked out of Stone's office.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#11) - Winston was standing in Tyler Stone's office when Miguel O'Hara burst into the room demanding to know why Dr. Jordan Boone had been instructed to assist Miguel.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#12) - After Tyler Stone and Spider-Man 2099 were captured by Earth-9309's Thanatos, Thanatos sent a holographic communication to Winston, warning him against opposition of any kind and demanding full access to Alchemax for one hour, after which Winston could have both Tyler Stone and Spider-Man 2099 back. Winston tried to reply back but Thanatos ended the communication. Winston was present with a small squad of Public Eye agents when Thanatos subsequently arrived at Alchemax. When Thanatos mentioned that Alchemax was working to recreate the work of the Heroic Age's Reed Richards by cracking interdimensional barriers, Winston informed Thanatos that information on any such projects was classified and that he could not discuss it. A nervous Tyler Stone told Winston to go ahead and tell Thanatos the truth but Winston refused, reminding Stone of the Alchemax CEO's policies on classified information requests. With Thanatos' gun to his head, Tyler Stone ordered Winston to tell Thanatos or risk having his third arm rammed up his most convenient bodily orifice, prompting Winston to reluctantly identify the project as the Virtual Unreality Program. Thanatos then ordered Winston to take them all there and Winston did as instructed, taking Thanatos, Stone and Spider-Man 2099 to Dr. Jordan Boone's Virtual Unreality Program. Winston remained present as Dr. Boone was nearly knocked into the Virtual Unreality system and as Earth-148611's Net-Prophet emerged from it.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#13) - Winston remained present as the Net-Prophet attempted to get an idea of his new surroundings.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#18 (fb) - BTS) - Tyler Stone instructed Winston to hook into the world-net and gather information about what the world is saying about the Aesir.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#19 (fb) - BTS) - While connected to the world-net, a computer virus was introduced into Winston's cyborg neural net by the hacker Discord.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#18) - Half an hour later, Stone summoned Winston back to his office and asked what Winston had been able to learn about the Aesir and whether or not it had the intended impact Avatarr desired. Winston began to reply but paused to remove his glasses, revealing red and pitch-black eyes. The uncaring Stone then demanded again to know what Winston had learned, remarking that half an hour was an eternity in loading terms, but a silent Winston violently grabbed Stone by the neck and slammed him down to the ground. Stone's guards quickly entered the room and ordered Winston to release Stone but Winston remained silent and retained his grip on Stone's neck despite four guards trying to remove him from Stone. Stone soon managed to pull an override disc from his pocket and place it against Winston's left ear, scrambling his cybernetic brain and downing him. An angry Stone then berated his guards for taking so long to get there and ordered his men to get Winston down to the diagnostics bay.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#19 - BTS) - Tyler Stone spoke with a group of Alchemax employees regarding reports of city-wide chaos and he asked one of them, Mendez, what his investigation of Winston had turned up. Mendez reported that they had discovered the presence of a virus in Winston's cyborg neural net. When Stone angrily replied that Winston was bug-proof, Mendez commented that nothing was bug-proof if the hacker was talented enough and he informed Stone that the virus was making Winston act opposite of his core programming, much like other Alchemax programs had been acting recently.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#22 - BTS) - As Discord's computer virus subsided and systems began to restore themselves, Tyler Stone was informed of the restoration progress and Stone asked about Winston.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#24) - Winston returned to work for Tyler Stone, who remarked that it was good to have Winston back. Winston replied that it was good to be back and expressed hope that the choking incident would not be held against him, as he was not himself. Stone assured Winston that he was used to people wanting to choke him and they possessed all of their faculties. Winston was present as Tyler Stone received a communication that Project "Payback" was heading Stone's way in ten minutes.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#25) - Winston accompanied Tyler Stone to his Whisper SX, Model 6000 vehicle, unaware they were being watched by Spider-Man 2099. Winston then drove Stone home to his mansion and escorted Stone to his door, where Conchata O'Hara was waiting for him. Spider-Man 2099 then crept inside Stone's mansion as Winston entered behind Stone.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#29) - Winston was in communication with Tyler Stone as Stone visited Dana D'Angelo in an attempt to learn where the missing Miguel O'Hara had been. When he had a chance, Stone communicated back to Winston and confirmed that Miguel had "rabbited" and he ordered Winston to have Miguel brought back, asking Winston to first bring the car around for a dinner engagement that was part of some carefully laid plans.

(Spider-Man 2099 II#6) - After Tyler Stone trapped Spider-Man 2099 in the past to correct a temporal anomaly, Winston was present with Tyler Stone as Stone gloated about how great the day was with Spider-Man 2099 trapped in the past with no hope of returning. As Stone was considering going to bed early, Winston interrupted to inform him of something Public Eye had just forwarded him involving the return of Spider-Man 2099 and his allies, Earth-92100's Spider-Man and Earth-803's Lady Spider. When an enraged Tyler Stone demanded to know how Spider-Man 2099 could have returned after only being gone an hour or two, Winston explained that they had no way of knowing how long Spider-Man 2099 was truly in the past. Winston then explained how, due to the very nature of time travel, that Spider-Man 2099 could have been in the past for years before returning to Earth-928 hours after he had left. Winston also noted that they were lucky Spider-Man 2099 did not return prior to be sent into the past in the first place, as that would cause a time paradox and leave them dealing with two Spider-Men. Stone then asked about Spider-Man 2099's allies and Winston confirmed that the Public Eye had photographed them, noting that Spider-Man 2099 could be distracted and not avoiding the Public Eye like usual. Stone ordered Winston to make sure Spider-Man 2099 was tracked and, when the hero stopped moving, send in the Public Eye to take down Spider-Man once and for all. When Winston asked if Stone was perhaps no longer planning to go home early, Stone grumbled and ordered Winston to stop Spider-Man 2099. Later taking down one of the Public Eye soldiers, Spider-Man 2099, knowing Tyler Stone was watching him, offered to give Stone a free pass if he went to Alchemax Floor 82, Lab C and had was in there ready for him. Considering the offer, Stone instructed Winston to do what Spider-Man 2099 demanded. Winston immediately departed to accomplish his orders.

(Spider-Man 2099 II#7) - Winston was present at Tyler Stone's side when Spider-Man 2099 and Earth-803's Lady Spider arrived at Alchemax. Spider-Man 2099 demanded that Stone clear out the lab adjacent to where they were keeping the Earth-001 Inheritor Daemos, Stone questioned why he should as Spider-Man 2099 asked but when Spider-Man 2099 threatened Stone, Stone ordered Winston to see to Spider-Man 2099's demands. Winston then left the room with Spider-Man 2099 and Lady Spider to accomplish his orders.

(2099 Unlimited I#9 / 2) - While thinking back on his past, Miguel O'Hara recalled the day when his teacher, Angela Daskalakis, came out to greet him and Tyler Stone while Winston waited by the car. When Miguel later visited his lab at Alchemax, he looked at Tyler Stone and Winston as he thought about his origins as Spider-Man 2099. Admitting to himself that just thinking about the creepy Stone and Winston made him want to take a shower, Miguel left Alchemax and returned home.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#36 (fb) - BTS) - After Miguel O'Hara became the new Vice President of Alchemax, Winston began work at Miguel's executive assistant, much as he had for Tyler Stone. As part of his duties, Winston was asked to inform Miguel when Tyler Stone had been secured.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#36) - Winston did as instructed and informed Miguel when Tyler Stone was secured. When Miguel asked if Dana D'Angelo was with Stone, Winston answered in the affirmative, prompting Miguel to vent to that his taking the Vice President position was temporary so someone could remain in charge and keep Alchemax from destroying innocent lives. Miguel then suggested that if Alchemax were led by someone with a conscience, it could work wonders, and Winston agreed, asking why Miguel was telling him. Miguel admitted his explaining to Winston was a test run for having to explain his new position to his friend Xina Kwan. Thinking perhaps he should try the explanation on his mother Conchata, Miguel instructed Winston to get his mother on the phone. He then instructed Winston to gather all historical references on someone called Venom and ordered Winston to tell all S.H.I.E.L.D. representatives that Spider-Man was off-limits. Winston then departed to accomplish his orders. Later, after researching Venom, Winston interrupted an argument between Miguel O'Hara and Xina Kwan to relay the data he had found onto Miguel's personal database. After Winston apologized for interrupting Miguel's argument, Venom 2099 entered the room and remarked that he apologized for interrupting Winston's life. Winston turned around, puzzled, and was only able to see Venom for a second before he was impaled by a symbiote tendril. A short time later, Xina Kwan was leaving Miguel's office and ran into Dana D'Angelo, who noticed the impaled Winston slumped into his chair. Dana managed to ask what had happened to Winston before both Dana and Xina screamed at seeing Winston's grisly end. Upon hearing the scream, Miguel ran into the room to find Venom holding Dana and Xina hostage over the dead body of Winston.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#37) - Miguel quickly got Dana D'Angelo to safety and when he returned, he found the room empty aside from Winston's corpse. Looking a large hole in the ceiling and suspecting Venom had fled up, Miguel bemoaned the loss of Winston.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#38 - BTS) - After Venom escaped Alchemax, Miguel O'Hara met with some Alchemax employees and demanded to know what the creature bonded to Venom was, informing them of the data Winston had dug up on the Heroic Age's Venom before he was killed.

(Spider-Man 2099 I#42 - BTS) - Miguel O'Hara contacted Alchemax's personnel department and asked on the status of the secretary he had requested, noting that with Winston gone, he needed someone to guard his office door from everyone demanding his input and attention.

Comments: Created by Peter David, Rick Leonardi and Al Williamson.

Winston's skin was mistakenly colored Caucasian in one panel in the 2nd story of Spider-Man 2099 I#18 (see above image of Winston dressed as a chauffeur).

While some sources refer to Winston as a robot, he is clearly confirmed to be a cyborg in Spider-Man 2099 I#19.

In Spider-Man 2099 II#6, Tyler Stone at one point calls Winston "Wilson." Either Stone was so angry at the return of Spider-Man 2099 that he misspoke or there was simply a text mistake in the issue.

I was originally unsure where to place the appearances of Winston seen in Spider-Man 2099 II#6-7, as they were published well after we saw Winston killed in Spider-Man 2099 I#36. In addition, we know that the Earth-928 timeline was mucked up a little by the temporal shockwave that occurred at the end of the "Age of Ultron" storyline. At first, I assumed the shockwave had caused temporal fluctuations that altered the timeline of Earth-928, bringing Winston back to life with no memories of his death and transforming the timeline to fit the status quo prior to certain large events occurring. However, upon reading the Tyler Stone OHotMU entry in Secret Wars: Official Guide to the Marvel Multiverse, I learned that it was confirmed that the events of Tyler Stone sending Spider-Man 2099 into the past of Earth-616 (which was Spider-Man 2099's status quo in Spider-Man 2099 II & Spider-Man 2099 III series) occurred earlier in the Earth-928 timeline, prior to Conchata O'Hara shooting Tyler Stone and prior to Doom 2099 taking over America. Therefore, I have placed Winston's Spider-Man 2099 II#6-7 appearances as occurring prior to Spider-Man 2099 I#30 (which is the issue where Conchata O'Hara witnessed Tyler Stone & Dana D'Angelo having dinner & decides to take Tyler down. It's also prior to Doom 2099 taking over too so it fits). It's possible that these events occur a bit earlier but we do know that the damage caused by the "Age of Ultron" temporal shockwave was fixed, allowing the timeline to proceed as we originally read in the 1990s. Of course, various 2099-era timelines (Earth-928 included) were eventually rewoven into a combined reality/timeline dubbed Earth-2099, an event that likely destroyed Earth-928 but that event would have occurred after Winston's death (to the best of my knowledge) so it's irrelevant to this particular profile.
