History:
(Slapstick Infinite Comic I#4 (fb) - BTS) - Native to the cartoon-like
Dimension Echh, the militant War D.O.G.S. were a group of
highly-trained officers bent on putting the terrorist Skratch
organization to sleep with extreme prejudice. They were originally led
by Lt. Fido, a good man who was ultimately replaced by Rex when he was
killed by an I.E.D. in a fire hydrant.
(Slapstick Infinite Comic I#5 (fb)) - The War
D.O.G.S. warred against other cartoony residents of Dimension Echh.
In-fighting among Echh residents led to the dimension becoming a
monstrosity of violence.
(Slapstick Infinite Comic I#4) - Following an attempt
to open a portal to Dimension Echh and the subsequent failure to
completely shut down the portal, the cartoonish Slapstick and his
friend Mike Peterson were shocked when a tank gun emerged from the
seemingly shut down portal, followed by the entire tank housing
Dimension Echh's militant War D.O.G.S. group. Their leader, Rex,
flipped open the tank's hatch and ordered the rest of the War D.O.G.S.
to set their weapons to de-toonify. The War D.O.G.S. then fired on
Slapstick before also shooting the inanimate Earth objects that had
been transformed by the energies of the Dimension Echh portal. Soon
realizing that Slapstick was a native and could possibly help as a
guide/interpreter on Earth, the War D.O.G.S. stopped firing on him and
when Slapstick asked who they were, Rex yelled for the War D.O.G.S. to
initiate a roll call. After all of the War D.O.G.S. were introduced,
Rex revealed that their recon had indicated that the freedom-hating
Skratch organization had infiltrated the Earth dimension hoping to get
their hands on the "champion" before their Princess did and that their
mission was to put the feline Skratch organization to sleep with
extreme prejudice. Rex explained the team's loss of their former
commander Lt. Fido before ordering the War D.O.G.S. to secure the
perimeter, terrifying Slapstick's parents, and as the D.O.G.S. fanned
out for more recon, the cat next door (secretly Agent 83 of Skratch)
reported back to the Skratch commander regarding the War D.O.G.S.'
arrival on Earth.
Before the War D.O.G.S., Slapstick or Mike could go much further, an entire squadron of Skratch agents descended on the heroes and the Skratch commander ordered the War D.O.G.S. to surrender and only get batted around a little before death. After Mike Peterson was captured and taken back to Dimension Echh, Slapstick regrouped with the War D.O.G.S., who revealed that Mike had been the "champion" all along. A squadron of A.R.M.O.R. agents arrived moments later and Slapstick's allies Isabel Cabrera and Teresa Rigotti confirmed the War D.O.G.S.' statements, noting that Dimension Echh's Taurs had earlier attacked the mall while Slapstick was with A.R.M.O.R. The agents then ordered an impound of the War D.O.G.S. and all of their equipment pending a full investigation into the dimensional breach between Earth and Dimension Echh but Rex argued that while they did not set out to violate any interdimensional protocols, their mission superseded all local jurisdictions. Explaining how Skratch had taken Mike back to the terrorists seeking to overthrow Dimension Echh's Princess, Rex insisted that the War D.O.G.S. needed to return to Dimension Echh immediately to intercept Skratch. When Teresa Rigotti refused to let the War D.O.G.S. open any new portals, Rex claimed they would just use the one Slapstick had already opened, prompting Teresa to berate Slapstick for opening the portal in the first place. Returning to Slapstick's home, A.R.M.O.R., the War D.O.G.S. and Slapstick, who asked Teresa if they would be squared up if he helped them put a final stop the Dimension Echh invasion of Earth. Teresa said it would depend on how Slapstick did as they opened Slapstick's portal and all present traveled to Dimension Echh.
(Slapstick Infinite Comic I#5) - Rex recounted the
recent history of Dimension Echh and how the Queen Princess came to
power following the Electroplasm Cataclysm that had rendered all Echh
residents "G" rated and stressed the importance of rescuing the
"champion" Mike before he could be utilized to overthrow Princess. When
Slapstick commented "..and knowing is half the battle.", Rex admitted
he didn't understand the reference. When the Princess later
appeared on the scene, having been drawn to an attack on Slapstick from
Dimension Echh's residents, Rex informed her that his War D.O.G.S. had
returned to Dimension Echh with mixed news of the "champion" being
captured by Skratch but the "adversary" Slapstick, who had previously
caused the Electroplasm Cataclysm, agreeing to help rescue the
"champion." Queen Princess reminded Rex to stop bringing the
cataclysmic past and related the story of how the Dimension Echh
residents (including the War D.O.G.S.) warred against each other and
transformed the dimension into a monstrosity, which she claimed was as
a result of the residents' "no-no" parts. Princess' story eventually
erupted into a song during which she gave Rex a hoagie instead of
weapons and as the song continued, the War D.O.G.S. joined in, firing
their guns in unison with Princess' singing. After Princess mentioned
that the rescue of Mike Peterson would fulfill a prophecy and restore
everyone's "no-no bits," Rex interrupted to express his suspicions as
to where Skratch had taken Mike.
A short time later, Rex led the War D.O.G.S. in
an all-out assault on E.V.I.L. headquarters, where Skratch was keeping
the captive Mike Peterson. The attack was a feint, however, meant to
distract Skratch while Slapstick and A.R.M.O.R. made their way to the
secret entrance to rescue Mike. Shortly after Slapstick and A.R.M.O.R.
successfully rescued Mike and defeated E.V.I.L. sorcerer supreme
Gorgonzola, Rex blew a hole in the ceiling and dropped off the Skratch
commander, announcing the War D.O.G.S. mission complete and noting that
it was only a myth that cats always landed on their feet. Rex then
commended Slapstick on defeating E.V.I.L., announcing that all
opposition to Princess' rule had been crushed and Queen Princess was
now the undisputed leader of Dimension Echh. Rex later brought
Gorgonzola before Queen Princess, who commended Slapstick, A.R.M.O.R.
and Mike Peterson for their work.

In case it isn't obvious, the War D.O.G.S. were a thinly-veiled homage to G.I. Joe.
Fort Good Boy was never
specifically stated as being the headquarters of the War D.O.G.S. but
the map of Dimension Echh showing various locations showed Fort Good
Boy as a military outpost. Given the military and canine themes of the
area, it seems pretty likely that the War D.O.G.S. were based there.

Fort Good Boy was a large military outpost area of Dimension Echh. It is presumably the headquarters of the War D.O.G.S. (see comments).
Hardtack was a member of the War D.O.G.S. dressed like a sailor and one of the earliest members, having participated in the D.O.G.S.' early attacks on other Dimension Echh residents. He later accompanied the War D.O.G.S. to Earth to find the "champion" prophecized by Dimension Echh Queen Princess, aiding the "champion" Mike Peterson and his friend Slapstick against the feline agents of Skratch, who ultimately absconded with Mike. He then accompanied the War D.O.G.S. back to Dimension Echh, where he briefly got looped into one of Queen Princess' songs before later aiding the War D.O.G.S. in their attack on E.V.I.L. headquarters to distract from Slapstick and A.R.M.O.R. entering through a secret entrance.
Hardtack's G.I. Joe counterpart would be Shipwreck.
High Caliber was a member of the War D.O.G.S. equipped with a heavy machine gun. He accompanied the War D.O.G.S. to Earth to find the "champion" prophecized by Dimension Echh Queen Princess, aiding the "champion" Mike Peterson and his friend Slapstick against the feline agents of Skratch, who ultimately absconded with Mike. Returning to Dimension Echh, he later aided the War D.O.G.S. when they stormed the E.V.I.L. headquarters as a distraction to allow Slapstick and A.R.M.O.R. to enter through a secret entrance.
High Caliber's G.I. Joe counterpart would be Roadblock.
Lt. Fido was the original leader of the War D.O.G.S. and was known
to be a good man. He was killed by an I.E.D. inside of a fire hydrant
and Rex replaced him as the D.O.G.S.' leader.
Lt. Fido was never seen so it would be impossible to determine who would be his G.I. Joe counterpart.
Rex was the leader of the War D.O.G.S., having taken
over leadership when the previous leader, Lt. Fido, died. He
subsequently led the group in early attacks against other Dimension
Echh residents. After Queen Princess took over Dimension Echh, Rex and
the War D.O.G.S. served her, battling enemies such as the Skratch
organization that had allied with E.V.I.L. When a dimensional portal
opened to Earth, Rex led the War D.O.G.S. in traveling to Earth to find
the "champion" prophecized by Queen Princess and to prevent Skratch
from capturing the "champion." Once there, he ordered the War D.O.G.S.
to secure the perimeter around Slapstick's home and aided the
"champion," Mike Peterson, against Skratch when they attacked. After
Skratch successfully captured Mike, Rex and the War D.O.G.S. returned
to Dimension Echh with Slapstick and his A.R.M.O.R. allies, reporting
back to Princess about their mission and briefly getting caught up in
her explanatory song. He later led the War D.O.G.S. in a massive
assault on E.V.I.L. as a distraction while Slapstick and A.R.M.O.R.
entered E.V.I.L. headquarters to rescue Mike. After successfully
defeating Skratch, Rex and the War D.O.G.S. regrouped with Slapstick
and his allies and they returned to Queen Princess. Following the
revelation that Queen Princess was manipulating the residents of
Dimension Echh in an effort to stay in power, Rex was restored to a
less cartoony form alongside most of the dimensional residents.
Rex's G.I. Joe counterpart appeared to Duke, field leader of G.I. Joe.
Sarge was a member of the War D.O.G.S. that accompanied the War D.O.G.S. to Earth to find the "champion" prophecized by Dimension Echh Queen Princess, aiding the "champion" Mike Peterson and his friend Slapstick against the feline agents of Skratch, who ultimately absconded with Mike. Returning to Dimension Echh, he later aided the War D.O.G.S. when they stormed the E.V.I.L. headquarters as a distraction to allow Slapstick and A.R.M.O.R. to enter through a secret entrance.
Sarge's G.I. Joe counterpart would be Wild Bill.
Silent-but-Deadly was a masked member of the War D.O.G.S. that accompanied
the War D.O.G.S. to Earth to find the "champion"
prophecized by Dimension Echh Queen Princess, aiding the "champion"
Mike Peterson and his friend Slapstick against the feline agents of
Skratch, who ultimately absconded with Mike.
Silent-but-Deadly's G.I. Joe counterpart appeared to be Snake Eyes.
Snowblind was a member of the War D.O.G.S. equipped with arctic weather gear and he was one of the earliest members, having participated in the D.O.G.S.' early attacks on other Dimension Echh residents. He later accompanied the War D.O.G.S. to Earth to find the "champion" prophecized by Dimension Echh Queen Princess, aiding the "champion" Mike Peterson and his friend Slapstick against the feline agents of Skratch, who ultimately absconded with Mike. He then accompanied the War D.O.G.S. back to Dimension Echh, where he briefly got looped into one of Queen Princess' songs before later aiding the War D.O.G.S. in their attack on E.V.I.L. headquarters to distract from Slapstick and A.R.M.O.R. entering through a secret entrance.
