History:
(Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham I#17/2 (fb)
- BTS) - The origins of the cosmic Bee-Yonder are unrevealed, but he
had
been observing Earth's super-powered individuals for some time. To that
end, he constructed a special world that would serve as a battle arena
from which he could record, distribute assorted merchandise and
broadcast at
an intergalactic scale to further his personal power.
(Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham I#12/1) - Bee-Yonder suddenly appeared before Spider-Ham, who was relaxing after an adventure. Spider-Ham felt that the cosmic bee-ing was going to change his personal destiny, but Bee-Yonder dismissed it; he was just changing Spider-Ham's wardrobe and cosmically zapped the hero's original costume into a black version. Bee-Yonder then vanished to change Ducktor Doom's ensemble.
(Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham I#17/2 (fb) - BTS) - Bee-Yonder kidnapped many of Earth's heroes and villains to participate in his "Secret Furs", a commercial endeavor to test the moral and physical fiber of Earth's super-powered population to engage in violent confrontations on his special world construct. Bee-Yonder also employed George Lugworm's special effects company to enhance his cosmic presence.
(Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham I#17/2) - Momentarily free of the fighting influence of Bee-Yonder battle-focused world, scientist Bruce Bunny (whose alter ego was the powerhouse Hulk Bunny) determined the world to be a cosmic-level mental landscape. Bee-Yonder appeared before Bruce and explained his reasons for capturing them for spectacle, as well as the apparently random match-ups of hero versus villain gladiatorial bouts, soap opera romances that descended into fisticuffs and even violent karaoke. Increasingly agitated at Bee-Yonder's megalomania, Bruce transformed into Hulk Bunny, but the cosmic bee-ing just zapped him into a fray with assorted villains. Bee-Yonder hoped to expand his planet-scale Secret Furs across his universe, as well as into another.
(Marvel Tales II#201/2) - Spider-Ham complained of
the cheap intergalactic stitching of the Bee-Yonder's black costume and
returned to
his original blue-and-red costume.
(BTS) - Possibly as a result of the cataclysmic
Secret Wars III,
Bee-Yonder shrank in size, and became friendlier and more cooperative
to the super-powered folk of Earth-8311.
(Spider-Ham I#1) - An attack on Earth-8311 by a
hidden villain (actually Kang-6309, sent by the Council of Kangs, who
found the concept of an anthropomorphic reality a mockery) led Iron
Mouse and the Unhumanati to make modifications to Spider-Ham's
now-broken dimensional travel watch (which the spider hero had used
when he was with
the Web
Warriors). Iron Mouse convinced Bee-Yonder to sit inside the watch
and fuel it with his wish power so that the Unhumanati could traverse
space and time to combat their foe. Spider-Ham chanced upon this and
indignantly swiped the watch back, setting off after the enemy solo and
landed in Earth-616.
(Spider-Ham I#2) - Spider-Ham met Spider-Man (Parker)
and they went to the Fantastic Four, where Reed Richards studied
Spider-Ham's distinctive anthrotoon physiology, then wanted to look at
the
power source of the dimension travel watch, but Bee-Yonder poked his
head out, angry at having been woken up and threatened chaos if
disturbed again. Taken aback, Richards left it alone. Richards traced
the dimensional departure energy signature of Spider-Ham's foe and gave
him a tracking pad keyed to the foe's dimensional vibration. Richards
had also deduced that the dimensional transport watch ran on wish
power. With that, Spider-Ham portalled away,
not realizing he had brought Spider-Man with him.
(Spider-Ham I#3) - The heroic duo pursued their foe
across two realities before falling into a rip in reality, landing
in a strange place that the Bee-Yonder identified as the between place.
From there, Spider-Ham could see the recent history and chaotic battle
in his home world. Spider-Man urged Spider-Ham to act but he was
reluctant; Bee-Yonder realized that Spider-Ham felt
alienated and mocked by the heroes around him, even Spider-Man-616, so
Spider-Ham preferred to sit and watch from afar instead. But
Spider-Man fired up Spider-Ham's courage and the little hero had
Bee-Yonder pursue their villain again, this time to a devastated future
where Earth-8311 lay in ruins because of the Kang Council's attack.
(Spider-Ham I#4) - The devious media villain Mojo was
revealed as manipulating Kang-6309. Bee-Yonder remained hidden all the
while.
(Spider-Ham I#5) - All the super-powered and
prominent heroes and villain of Earth-8311 were transported to the
Mojoverse to be at the whims of Mojo with Parker a dancing fool, but
Spider-Ham duped Mojo and all were freed. After the Kang Council
apprehended Mojo, Bee-Yonder emerged and returned Parker to normal,
then returned everyone back to Earth-8311 and indignantly farewelled
the Kangs.
Comments: Created by Steve Mellor, Joe Albelo, Pierre Fournier.
The Bee-Yonder is the Larval Earth versions of Earth-616's Beyonder. Secret Furs is, of course, a reference to the legendary original Secret Wars in 1984.
Presumably all the participants of the Secret Furs
had their memories wiped of their experiences on Bee-Yonder's battle
world, as no one seems to have recalled it.
Is the Bee-Yonder part of a collective Hive hanging in Infini-tree?
Spelled "Bee-yonder" pre-Secret Wars III, then
"Bee-Yonder" after Secret Wars III, then "Beeyonder" on Spider-Ham #4's
recap page. Looks like inconsistent edit-ing or editating (or is that
editization in American English?).
