Reality-928 circa 2099 A.D.
Classification: Alternate reality (Reality-928; see comments) extratemporal (2099 A.D.) perhaps reptilian extraterrestrial race
Location/Base of Operations: Planet Drelys unidentified solar system, unidentified galaxy, Reality-928 circa 2099 A.D. (at least)
Known Members: None identified
Affiliations: Y'Lestja race
Enemies: None identified
First Appearance: Doom 2099 I#18 (June, 1994)
Powers/Abilities: The M'rglots are long-lived, living at least hundreds of years.
They can tolerate close proximity, at least, to magma; they may or may not be able to tolerate and/or thrive in the magma.
The limited view of the M'rglot makes them appear to be quadripeds and seem to have a tail, but that is unconfirmed.
It is unrevealed whether they are organic or perhaps composed of rock
Traits: The M'rglots spend hundreds of years in the magma flow, writing new stanzas to their epic poem, which is sung every hundred seasons (see comments) at the tribal gatherings.
They are creatures of great humor, despite their harsh environs.
Type: Unrevealed (only a partial form in
shadow is seen, but they look to me to be quadripeds; reptilian seems
likely, but perhaps they are stone or metal or something else)
Eyes: Unrevealed (presumably two, one on each side of the head, but eyes are not clearly visible from the image shown)
Fingers: Possibly three (hands/front feet are not clearly visible in the images shown, and it is not clear whether there is any sort of opposing thumb like digit)
Toes: Unrevealed (back feet are not clearly visible in the images shown)
Skin color: Unrevealed (they may or may not have skin, but their superficial covering appears to be dark, perhap black)
Average height: Unrevealed (there is no frame of reference, and whether they are inches or feet in height/length is impossible to tell)
(Doom 2099 I#18 (fb)) - Dwelling on the "infernal" planet Drelys, the M'rglots spend spend hundreds of years in the magma flow, writing new stanzas to their epic poem.
(Doom 2099 I#18 (fb)) - Every hundred seasons, the M'rglots would gather their tribes, during which they would sing their epic poem.
(Doom 2099 I#18 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, the M'rglots communed with the Y'Lestja, an energy/consciousness collective race who traveled the universe, merging their consciousness with apparently all beings on a planet and sharing the collective knowledge they have gained.
Comments: Created by John Frances Moore, Pat Broderick, and John Nyberg.
The M'rglots are shown in a single panel, so that's all we've got to go on.
The length of the M'rglots seasons, and the number of seasons per year are unrevealed. The
length of their year, which would be based on the amount of time it
takes their planet to orbit their sun, is similarly unrevealed. The
presence of molten rock would seem to indicate that they were closer to
their sun, which would mean a shorter time to orbit their sun, but
maybe their sun is hotter, bigger, etc. Not my area of expertise, but I
welcome input from anyone with a greater understanding.
100 seasons on Earth might mean 25 years (with four seasons per year), or it could be that a season refers to their whole yearly cycle.
They existed in the state described at some point prior to the Y'Lestja's traveling to Earth in Earth's year 2099 A.D. It is unrevealed how far into the past they have existed.
IF Reality-928 shares a common history with Reality-616, then it would stand that the M'rglots exist in Reality-616 as well, but perhaps the Linstrea encountered Galactus or the Ebon-Seeker or the Black Stars or some similar being/race that had slaughtered multitudes of beings and races in the past.
Page 11 was divided into triangular panels, and so cropping them to show the whole panel leaves a lot of the other panels included. The yellow lines separate the panels, and Drelys is the central one, with the Linstrea of Tsomnaia to the upper left, and the Eldrites of Va to the lower right.
Anyway, I would like to learn more about the M'rglots.
Profile by Snood.
The M'rglots should be distinguished from:
Drelys is a planet in unidentified solar system, in an unidentified galaxy, in Reality-928 circa 2099 A.D. (at least; see comments in main entry).
Drelys is home to the M'rglot race, at least.
Drelys was described as an "infernal" planet, which would typical mean Hell-like, but I believe it was just meant to mean more like an inferno, specifically very hot (where molten rock rivers were common and long-lived).
An unrevealed portion of the planet was covered with magma flows. Some types of rocks could exist within the magma flows without melting.
