History:
(Spider-Man 2099 II#2 (fb) - BTS) - Tempest grew up knowing her father wanted a boy, and was disappointed with a girl. She went to many baseball games with him, and eventually decorated her adult apartment with baseball memorabilia.

(Spider-Man 2099 III#9 (fb) - BTS) - Tempest's father left when she was four years old, and her mom, Cecelia Monroe, who secretly had super-powers that manifested whenever she got upset, worried that Tempest might also develop powers, so she carefully watched and monitored Tempest closely for years. In time, Cecelia married Lawrence "Larry" Schrank. Years later, Tempest complained to Cecelia that Larry watched her closely and made her feel uncomfortable, but Cecelia didn't take the concerns seriously.

(Spider-Man 2099 II#11 (fb) - BTS) - Growing up, Tempest never felt as though her mom cared for her.

(Spider-Man III#2 (fb) - BTS) - Cecelia had plans for her Tempest, and at some point they had a major falling out. Tempest spent years estranged from her mother.

(Spider-Man 2099 III#9 (fb) - BTS) - After Tempest moved out, Cecelia discovered Larry's stash of inappropriate photos that he had taken of Tempest over the years. In a moment of anger, Cecelia lashed out with her powers, killing Larry, but she never told Tempest.

(Spider-Man 2099 II#2 (fb) - BTS) - Tempest was diagnosed with a rare form a leukemia. Given a low probability of survival, she chose to forego radiation treatment and just enjoy the rest of her life.

(Amazing Spider-Man III#1/5) - Tempest was accosted by two muggers, and she initially grabbed mace from her purse but they knocked her to the ground and drew guns. Spider-Man (Miguel O'Hara, from 2099) stopped the men, inspiring Tempest to yell at him for butting in to help her when she didn't need it.

(Spider-Man 2099 II#1) - At her apartment building, where Tempest worked as the superintendent Tempest cleaned up a bloodstain in a vacant apartment that was about to be rented to new tenant Miguel O'Hara. O'Hara bantered with Tempest a bit, but she was unpleasant with him on purpose, though she laughed when he was unpleasant back.

(Spider-Man 2099 II#2) - O'Hara tried bringing Tempest flowers, but she closed the door in his face initially. Reconsidering, she opened it and invited him in. Tempest offered O'Hara some water, then assumed he was joking when he said he was from the future, but when he asked about her sickness, having seen her medical bills piled up, she told him to leave and mind his own business. Later, she went to O'Hara's apartment, where she saw Liz Allan leaving and realized Liz had kissed O'Hara on the mouth, though he said Liz was only his boss. Tempest confessed she had leukemia and that she only had months to live.

(Spider-Man 2099 II#11) - Tempest's mom called and pressured her to go in for a medical check-up, and Tempest reluctantly agreed. Tempest fell asleep, but woke up to see Spider-Man (O'Hara) hovering over her, though she didn't realize he had just administered a medication from the future to her. Tempest grabbed a gun from her drawer and Spider-Man webbed her hands together as he rushed away apologizing.

(Spider-Man 2099 II#11 - BTS) - Tempest went to the doctor and discovered her cancer had been cured. She immediately suspected Spider-Man had done something. After telling her mom over dinner, Tempest went home and got drunk.

(Spider-Man 2099 II#11) - O'Hara dropped by and Tempest gave him the good news. She pulled off his sunglasses and saw his eyes were red, then she told him she believed he'd sent Spider-Man to her. Tempest and O'Hara kissed, but she bit him before crying out in pain and collapsing on the ground. Tempest then collapsed and painfully transformed into an insect woman with wings and sharp claws and teeth, then she found herself ravenously hungry as O'Hara changed into Spider-Man.

(Spider-Man 2099 II#12) - As Tempest attacked, Spider-Man theorized that her new "spider-wasp" form may have been due to him travelling through time or other dimensions, or due to the cancer cure being tampered with by Tyler Stone. Tempest prepared to use her barbed tongue to feast on Spider-Man, but he fled as a helicopter nearly hit them. Tempest pursued Spider-Man into Central Park where she crashed into a statue (thinking it was him) before taking Officer Zadan, a nearby cop, hostage. Spider-Man retrieved Zadan's gun and shot Tempest multiple times, though her exoskeleton protected her. As the cop got free, Spider-Man and Tempest battled, the fight leading underwater, where she tried biting him but couldn't break through his costume. Using her super-strength, Tempest started choking Spider-Man, nearly killing him before he revealed he was actually Miguel. Tempest, shocked, let go and Spider-Man knocked her out. Tempest reverted to her human form and Spider-Man returned her home. As she woke up, she thanked him for saving her life, calling him Miguel as he departed.

(Spider-Man 2099 III#1 (fb) - BTS) - Tempest began dating Miguel, encouraging him to have adventures and to be more efficient as a hero. Tempest discovered she was pregnant.

(Spider-Man 2099 III#20 (fb) - BTS) - Miguel opened up to Tempest about how he was from the future, where he had an evil father.

(Spider-Man 2099 III#1) - Tempest accompanied Miguel when he was a contestant on Ninja USA, hosted by Tom and Lacey. Miguel thrived in the competition. Later, Miguel took Tempest to fancy restaurant Bijoux and they discussed his business and their plans to visit Japan soon. Miguel confessed that he sometimes worried that Tempest only loved him because he'd saved her life, but she reassured him and was beginning to tell him about the pregnancy when a car drove through the window, badly wounding Tempest.

(Spider-Man 2099 III#2 - BTS) - Cecelia Monroe found O'Hara in the hospital and told him that Tempest was dead. Spider-Man later found out that the car that hit them had been driven by a robot sent by a group of future villains called F.I.S.T.

(Spider-Man 2099 III#8) - Jasmine, a coworker of Miguel's, saw Tempest's pink hair in the hospital, but Cecelia rushed her away from Tempest's room. Later, O'Hara came to investigate and found Man Mountain Marko guarding the door, but he changed to Spider-Man and fought Marko while Spider-Man (Peter Parker) got Tempest safely aboard an airship.

(Spider-Man 2099 III#9) - Tempest remained in her coma at Parker Industries as both Spider-Men watched over her.

(Spider-Man 2099 III#9 - BTS) - Spider-Man sought out Cecelia, learning the truth about her past.

(Spider-Man 2099 III#10 - BTS) - Spider-Man left Cecelia behind, asking her to leave Tempest alone. He told her Tempest would reach out if she ever wanted to see Cecelia again.

(Spider-Man 2099 III#10) - O'Hara made sure Tempest was getting the best medical care, and the doctors told him that they were unsure when she would come out of her coma.

(Spider-Man 2099 III#17) - Tempest woke up from her coma and said the name Miguel, but she was alone.

(Spider-Man 2099 III#18) - Tempest called out for help and doctors, including Doris, rushed in to assure her that Miguel was fine, and so was the baby she was carrying. The doctors withheld from here that she'd never walk again.

(Spider-Man 2099 III#19 (fb) - BTS) - Tempest was told by the doctors to not try to get out of bed, but when she tried to use the restroom, she fell on the floor, her legs not working.

(Spider-Man 2099 III#19) - As the doctors helped Tempest back to bed, she learned she had suffered spinal damage. She asked the doctors to find Miguel for her. Later, Tyler Stone arrived and offered to help Tempest.

(Spider-Man 2099 III#20) - Dr. Evans informed Tempest that he'd called Miguel, but she wanted to see Stone anyway, hoping it would give her a chance to walk again. Tempest questioned Stone, who made sure she knew Miguel was Spider-Man before he told Tempest that Miguel was his son and they were both from the future. Tempest initially rejected Stone's offer to help her walk again, but then accepted, saying she'd kill him if he was lying. She left with Stone before Miguel could stop her.

(Spider-Man 2099 III#25) - Tempest remained unsure as Tyler took her to the abandoned prison Blackthorne, where they changed her back into her insectoid form, though she maintained mental control this time. Spider-Man broke in and freed Tempest from her restraints, then she stood and realized she could still walk. Spider-Man told her she was beautiful and kissed her, then told her she would have a child named Gabriel, or Gabri. Following a hypnotic suggestion from Stone, Tempest manifested a spike from her wrist and stabbed Spider-Man, but immediately forgot she'd done so. Tempest was distressed over Spider-Man's origins, then watched him disappear into the timestream.

(Amazing Spider-Man V#36 (fb) - BTS) - Tempest, back in her human form, had a baby. She moved to a beach somewhere to start fresh.

(Amazing Spider-Man V#36) - Tempest was shocked when O'Hara showed up back in the present, seeing her and meeting the baby.

Comments: Created by Peter David and William Sliney.

Tempest has a lot of bizarre/unique parts to her character. The mystery future cancer cure that led to her turning into a bug lady. A super-powered mom with a mysterious past. Post-hypnotic brainswashing from Tyler Stone. And in an alternate future Tempest raises her son Gabriel Jr. aka. Gabri to adulthood and embraces her insectoid powers, fighting crime as the winged Honey Bee.
