History:

(House of X#1 - BTS) - Ma Mingyu was the head of the State Science office in China and a member of the United Nations Security Council.

(House of X#1 (fb) - BTS) - When Charles Xavier and Magneto established the sovereign mutant island nation of Krakoa, Xavier delivered a telepathic message to the world, offering life-changing drugs in exchange for recognition of their nation. Both Mingyu and other influential members of the Chinese parliament were eager to agree to their terms, seeing political and scientific opportunities. As such Mingyu became part of the ambassador entourage invited to Krakoa's Jerusalem Habitat.

(House of X#1) - Mingyu arrived at the Jerusalem Habitat along with five other ambassadors; the French Jean Pierre Kol, American Reilly Marshall, British Walter Reppion, Russian Natalia Vollock and an unidentified Israeli ambassador. Most, however, weren't real ambassadors but send to spy and determine the validity of Krakoa for their respective governments. When the group met, Mingyu shared he thought of the offer as a gift and quoted Sun Tzu after which he revealed the Chinese government was willing to accept Xavier's gift. The group was then welcomed by Sophie and Esmee Cuckoo and Krakoa's founder, Magneto who took the ambassadors on a tour through Krakoa's biomes with the exclusion of Krakoa itself as no human was welcome on the island.

Mingyu and the others were unaware the telepathic Sophie Cuckoo had breached their telepathic shields and learned of the ambassadors true goals. And at the end of the tour Magneto and Sophie revealed those secrets. After an altercation with Reilly Marshall, Magneto explained they were the new gods now. Mingyu and the others then presumably returned home to inform their governments of what had transpired.

(House of X#5 - BTS) - China accepted a trade deal with Krakoa.

(X-Men V#4 - BTS) - Mingyu was invited to attend a high class dinner during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The attendees included the Krakoan Council, political representatives, several international businessmen and an academic.

(X-Men V#4) - Mingyu and the others had already assembled in a luxurious dining setting when Charles Xavier, Magneto and Apocalypse of the Krakoan Council arrived. After introduction were made the group raised a glass to peace unaware U.S. Ambassador Reilly Marshall had stationed two assault teams on the floors above and below them planning to assassinate the Krakoan Council. While Krakoan captains Cyclops and Gorgon dealt with the assault teams, Mingyu and the others engaged in conversation with the mutant leaders hoping to learn more of their future plans for the newly established nation of Krakoa and the world. And although the mutant leaders kept reassuring the representatives there was no subterfuge, the topics of conversation kept on intensifying as both Ludovic von Bergen and Ma Mingyu questioned the necessary regimen of Krakoan drugs, that Apocalypse caused the collapse of the Bronze Age and war. In the end it was Magneto who gave an awe inspiring speech how they would use all of humankinds governmental tactics to improve the world for the betterment of mutants by buying out all human banks, schools, media and politicians to ban mutant-hating humans from every institution to stop their dangerous and outdated ideas. A speech which left Mingyu and others in shock having believed mutantkind was still something to be dismissed. Just then Magneto confronted U.S. Ambassador Reilly Marshall with his plan to kill them after which Charles Xavier revealed it'd taken humankind just one month to send assassins to Krakoa to kill him (Xavier was shot but resurrected shortly after). Xavier then urged the human representatives to learn the lesson; evolve and adapt but if they would lash out again they could expect a response after which the Krakoan Council took their leave.

(Immortal X-Men#4) - Having learned about Krakoan's nation ability to the dead, Mingyu attended Krakoa's second annual Hellfire Gala on the Island of Mykines. During the festivities, Mingyu sought out Frost and confronted her about the fact mutantkind offered drugs to expand human lives with five years all while having the key to resurrection. Frost, however, tried to shake the ambassador off as she was needed elsewhere. But before she could leave Mingyu continued his questions until Frost snapped and revealed it wasn't a gift they could share (as they could only resurrect mutants, not humans) and that while it was terrible that humans were dying they still had over sixteen million dead mutants (hinting at Genosha's tragedy). Cool as ever, Mingyu explained her understood her reasoning but they should discuss to give access to their leaders, key donors and industry figures, somewhat shaken at the man's tenacity Frost told him she would speak to the council on the issue.
