History:
(Cyclops III#9 (fb) - BTS) - Captain Valesh Malafect served on an alien ship in the crew alongside Corsair (Christopher Summers) of Earth.

(Cyclops III#10 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, Malafect got greedy and tried to instigate a mutiny and take over the pirate ship he was serving on. Corsair refused to participate.

(Cyclops III#9 (fb) - BTS) - Corsair jettisoned Malafect into space in an escape shuttle and left him to die.

(Cyclops III#7 (fb) - BTS) - On his pirate scavenger ship, the Desolation, Valesh Malafect formed a pirate crew including his daughter Vileena Malafect, Sysk (green insectoid alien, first mate), Zebble (blue-skinned Kree), Zan (red-skinned alien), M'Jell (Skrull, navigator), Kratryr (orange-skinned monstrous alien), Tenk (moustached yellow-skinned alien, reapairman and doctor), and others.

(Cyclops III#11 (fb) - BTS) - Malafect taught his daughter that anyone who crossed their family would pay. During various space adventures, Vileena had a habit of getting involved with young men who she would later feel betrayed by, and wanting revenge on.

(Cyclops III#11 (fb) ) - Malafect killed young men who betrayed Vileena, including Xer'ak and Vfzfloo.

(Cyclops III#6 (fb) - BTS) - Aboard the Desolation, Malafect had his crew lay a communications trap near a shipping lane and were shocked when the Starjammers were the ones to fall into it. They disabled the ship to keep them stranded.

(Cyclops III#6) - Malafect apprehended Corsair and the teenage Cyclops, who'd been outside the Starjammer working on repairs. Malafect forced the Starjammers (Sikorsky, Hepzibah, Raza, Ch'od, Korvus) to surrender, then he was shocked to see Corsair punch Cyclops, angrily blaming him for falling into the trap, not realizing that it was a ruse by Corsair. Malafect forced all of the Starjammers into an escape ship where they'd be trapped without power or food and left to die. Malafect kept Corsair as a hostage that he could sell, and he gave Cyclops a chance to prove his value and the boy turned an optic blast on Corsair to prove himself. Malafect welcomed the boy, who called himself "Scott Cyclops" aboard his crew temporarily, and he warned the boy not to bother him or get in his way.

(Cyclops III#7 (fb) - BTS) - Malafect put Corsair in a cell with a view of space where he could see the Starjammers' ship drifting into space, so Corsair would know his crew was suffering.

(Cyclops III#7) - Malafect ordered the Desolation to fire plasma torpedoes on other ships that they could pillage. Cyclops called out opposition to Malafect's orders, but covered by saying that there was valuable technology on the ships they didn't want to destroy. After stopping Zebble from killing Cyclops, Malafect praised the boy for his thinking. Malafect ordered Vileena to give Cyclops a tour of the ship. Later, Malafect assembled the crew, preparing them to attack a humanitarian relief vessel.

(Cyclops III#8) - Malafect remained aboard the Desolation with Sysk while Cyclops and the others boarded the humanitarian vessel, which they soon discovered secretly carrying Shi'ar warriors. The crew returned, though Zebble was lost in the battle, and Cyclops claimed responsibility for having retrieved a valuable treasure for Malafect, a powerful Shi'ar Starcracker (which could make a star go supernova). Later, Malafect found Cyclops feeding Corsair dinner, and Cyclops claimed he was trying to get the prisoner to talk. Malafect prepared to use torture on Corsair instead.

(Cyclops III#9 (fb) - BTS) - Malafect assigned Cyclops to torture Corsair from then on. Later, Corsair's screams could be heard all over the ship. He became aware that Cyclops was courting Vileena.

(Cyclops III#9) - Malafect saw the Desolation arrive on Karchenar-4, and he sent the crew on a mission to scout out any danger as they prepared to sell the Starcracker, putting Cyclops in charge, which annoyed and upset the crew. Later, Corsair escaped from his cell.

(Cyclops III#10) - Malafect was furious with Sysk for allowing Corsair to escape and he threatened to kill him. M'Jell reported that the Starjammers had been picked up, alive, by a Rhinarian trade ship, and they would now be auctioned off at Tjaro-6. Malafect was shocked to learn that Cyclops was Corsair's son. Seeking to retrieve the Starcracker, the Shi'ar attacked Malafect's ship. Just as they were nearly overwhelmed, Cyclops and Corsair returned, saving the crew. Malafect threatened to kill them, but Cyclops convinced Malafect that he'd only deceived him in order to stay alive. Corsair proposed making peace with Malafect, but as Malafect considered it, Vileena knocked both Corsair and Cyclops out, demanding revenge for their betrayal.

(Cyclops III#11) - Malafect held a gun on Corsair and Cyclops, but realized they had just saved his life. He chose to put them in the brig instead even as he was told that Corsair had broken the Starcracker beyond repair. Recognizing that the Desolation needed repairs, Malafect landed on Tjaro-6, where he set Corsair and Cyclops to be sold, and he figured the cost of their sale would be enough to repair the ship, though Vileena was furious with him. Vileena went after Cyclops and Corsair anyway, and Malafect followed her, slashing Cyclops with a sword before trading blows with Corsair. Vileena threw a knife at Cyclops, but it ended up landing in her father's skull, killing him. She inherited the Desolation and the crew of pirates.
