History:
(Red Warrior#6/6 (fb) - BTS) - Magowuk became a close
friend of Comanche chief's son Red Warrior and an excellent hunter for
the tribe.
(Red Warrior#6/6) - While Magowuk and Red Warrior
were setting small animal traps, Magowuk chanced upon a rabid wolf (or
watami) and the two fought fiercely. Red Warrior was unable to get a
clear shot with his arrow and Magowuk broke the wolf's neck, but the
wolf had already severely scratched and bitten Magowuk, passing on the rabies virus. Both Comanches knew
the animal's curse had been transferred and the two returned to
their village. Chief Grey Eagle recognized the injuries and
called for elder Nakomah and healer Igwalo to tend to Magowuk, but the
virus had rapidly taken hold. In his feverish violent state, Magowuk broke free and
killed a villager as he escaped into the wilderness. Drinking water
sped up
the infection and Red Warrior followed, knowing he had to end his
friend's irreversible condition by killing him but not wanting to
murder
a friend. Magowuk threatened a wandering white hunter but ran off as
Red Warrior approached. Red Warrior and the cowboy trailed Magowuk up a
mountain path. Wrestling with Magowuk, Red Warrior pleaded with his
friend; with a final glimmer of clarity, Magowuk hurled himself off the
cliff to end the curse. Red Warrior regretted
losing his friend but considered it his god Manitou's intervention that he leap rather than die at the hands of a friend.

Magowuk would be BTS in activities of his Comanche tribe shown in many Red Warrior stories.
Rabies
is a lethal virus that can today be treated in the early stages. It
multiplies and accumulates in the salivary glands and is transmitted
through biting; however no cases of human-to-human transmission through
biting have been documented -- the threat here is from aggression and
violence induced by the virus.
